Preparation
The following tools and parts are required in order to perform the procedures described in this service bulletin.

Issue No power or no output, loud buzzing sound, burning smell or complaints of smoke
Remedy Replace 15V voltage regulators IC1 and IC2, and improve their heatsinking
Replace any other components that have failed
Action Rework all units manufactured prior to date code 1402
Technician Only authorized service technicians shall perform this procedure

Crosshead screwdriver, soldering iron, approved thermal grease

Remove the 4 crosshead screws and pull out the
power supply/amplier assembly. Disconnect
the wiring and place the assembly on your
work bench.
Remove the 7 crosshead screws from the rear of
the cabinet as shown, and separate the front and
rear sections of the cabinet. Take care as they
are connected with cables, and be careful with
the gasket.
Remove the 4 nuts and bolts and pull out the mic
stand holder from the bottom of the rear cabinet.
Disconnect the power cord and all other
connections to the unit under repair.
Follow all steps in the order in which they
are presented.
Procedure
Risk of electrical shock due to high voltage
discharge, even when the unit is o.
Ensure that the power supply capacitors are fully
discharged before proceeding.

Locate and remove IC1 and IC2. Inspect the circuit
board and components for any heat damage, and
replace as needed.
Remove the Main PCB from its metal enclosure. Carefully prepare the legs of the new voltage
regulators, to the dimensions shown in
this drawing.
Insert the new IC1 and IC2 in position, so they are
the same height as the nearby diodes D5 and D6,
then solder them in place.

Spread thermal grease on the backs of IC1, IC2, D5,
and D6. Carefully reinstall the PCB assembly back
into its metal enclosure.
Reinstall the heatsink clip to diodes D5 and D6,
and tighten the screws.
Install the new heatsink clip to cover IC1 and IC2.
Tighten the screw and nut to securely hold the ICs
against the heatsink.
Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly. Make
sure all connections and screws are secure.
Perform a functional test and safety test to verify
the unit is working correctly.
Make sure all insulators are in place,
including two new ones for IC1 and IC2.
