Condensation

INTRODUCTION

To replace an oven light bulb
WARNING - switch off the electricity
supply to the appliance at the socket,
to avoi the risk of electric shock.
Wait until the oven is cool, then
remove the oven shelves.
The oven light is at the rear of the oven
cavity.
Unscrew the lens cover (turn anticlock-
wise). Unscrew the bulb an replace.
Replace lens cover.
Please note that the oven light bulb is
not covere by guarantee.

Cooling fan
The cooling fan helps to keep the
exterior cool uring normal use.
When an element is operate , you
shoul heat the cooling fan switch on
automatically an be able to feel air
evacuating from the appliance vents
just below the fascia.
The cooling fan will continue to operate
for approximately 10 minutes after
turning off the elements. This is normal.
If there is no such in ication that the
fan is operating, the appliance will
require servicing.
DO NOT USE THE

Using the grills
The 900 has a grill in both oven cavi-
ties.
The top oven grill is a fully variable
ual grill.
The main oven features fixe rate
grilling - a single element conventional
grill, an a fanne grill function.
Follow the instructions given on the
next page when operating these grills.
Preheating
For best results, preheat the grill for
3 - 5 minutes.
Aluminium foil
Using aluminium foil to cover the grill
pan, or putting items wrappe in foil
un er the grill can create a fire hazar ,
an the high reflectivity can amage
the grill element.
Detachable grill pan handle
Place the han le over the e ge of the
grill pan, at the narrow si e e ges.
Sli e the han le to the centre, an
locate between the han le position
in icators.
The han le shoul be remove from
the pan uring grilling, to prevent
overheating.
The han le is esigne for removing /
inserting the grill pan un er the grill
when grilling.
If cleaning the grill pan when it is hot,
use oven gloves to move it. Do not use
the han le to pour hot fats from the
grill pan.

USING THE GRILLS

Grilling in the top oven
The top oven grill is a fully variable
ual grill.
To switch on the grill
Important: The top oven / grill oor
must be kept open when the top oven
grill is use - either fully open or using
the oor stop position - open the oor
about 75mm an it will hol open. If
the grill oor is close whilst the grill is
in use, it will cause the grill oor to
become hot.
Turn the oven control knob either
clockwise to use the full grill set-
tings, or clockwise to the economy
grill settings, Then select 1 - 8 on the
grill control.
The economy grill settings only use the
inner element of the grill.
To switch off, return the control knob to
the “” off position.
Grilling in the main oven
The main oven grill & fanne grill are
fixe settings using the inner element only.
Make sure that the programmer is set
to manual before grilling.
Conventional grill
The oor must be open when the grill
is use for conventional grilling - either
fully open or using the oor stop
position - open the oot about 75mm
an it will hol open.
If the grill oor is close while the grill
is in use, the grill will cycle on an off
at a high temperature, causing the
oor to become hot.
(i) Turn the selector control knob to
the conventional grill setting.
(ii) Turn the oven temperature control
knob to the full on setting.
Fanned grill
The oor must be close when the
fanne grill is use .
When opening the oor, take care to
avoi skin contact with any steam
which may escape from the cooking.
(i) Turn the selector control knob to
the fan grill setting.
(ii) Turn the oven temperature control
knob to the esire temperature-
setting.
When the fanne grill is selecte , only
the inner element will come on.

To switch on the top oven
Turn the top oven control knob to the
esire temperature setting.
The re thermostat in icator will come
on until the selecte temperature is
reache an then go off; it will turn on
an off perio ically as the thermostat
operates to maintain the selecte
temperature.
To switch off, return the control to the
“” off position.
Top heat only
Turn the top oven control knob past the
oven temperature markings, until the
top heat symbol is in the win ow as
shown below.
Important notes
•Important: Never put items
irectly on the base of the oven or
cover the oven base with foil, as
this may cause the element to
overheat.

Caution: Accessible parts may
be hot when the ovens are
used, young children should be
kept away.
The main oven is a multi-function oven,
an may be use as a conventional
oven or a fanne oven. It may also be
use as a grill, or with one of the other
oven functions.
Manual operation
The programmer must be set to manual
operation before the main oven or grill
functions can be use . If A(Auto) is
on the programmer isplay, return the
oven to manual operation by pressing
the two en buttons.
To turn on the main oven
Step 1 - Select the function
Turn the selector control knob in either
irection, until the function you require
appears in the win ow.
Step 2 - Set the main oven control
If you have selecte an oven cooking
function, then simply turn the main
oven temperature control knob clock-
wise to the require temperature - this
brings on the neon in icator light,
which will stay on until the oven reach-
es the require temperature.To switch
off the main oven, return the control
knob to the “l” off position.

Using the main oven
Caution: Accessible parts may
be hot when the appliance is in
use - keep children away from
the vicinity of the oven.
Never put items irectly on the base of
the oven or cover the oven base with
foil, as this can cause the base element
to overheat.

Set the programmer to manual operation.

trol knob to the esire temperature.

Preheating
Always use the fan oven setting for
preheating to save time an electricity.
After the oven has been preheate on
the fan oven setting, turn the selector
control knob to the oven setting you
require.
The oven must be preheate when
cooking frozen or chille foo , an we
recommen preheating for yeast mixtures,
batters, soufflés an whiske sponges,
otherwise preheating is not necessary
as a fan oven warms up quickly.
Preheat the oven until the in icator
neon switches off for the first time;
this will take between 5 - 15 minutes,
epen ing on the temperature selecte .
To help the air circulate freely
• Position the shelves evenly within
the oven an maintain a clearance
from the oven roof an base.
• If more than one cooking ish or
baking tray is to be use on a shelf,
leave a gap of at least 25mm
between the items themselves an
the oven interior.
• Allow enough space between
shelves for foo that will rise
uring cooking.
•Do not place items on the oven
base as this will prevent air from
circulating freely.

Main oven functions
Conventional oven
(i) Turn the selector control knob to
the conventional oven symbol.
(ii) Turn the main oven control knob to
the require temperature.
The temperature you select
correspon s to the temperature in the
mi le of the oven.
The top heat comes from the outer
element of the grill, an the base heat
is un er the oven base.
Top heat only
(i) Turn the selector control knob to
the top heat symbol.
(ii) Turn the main oven control to the
require temperature.
Base heat only
(i) Turn the selector control knob to
the base heat symbol.
(ii) Turn the main oven control knob to
the require temperature.
Fan oven
(i) Turn the selector control knob to
the fan oven symbol.
(ii) Turn the main oven control knob to
the require temperature.

Defrosting and cooling
(i) Turn the selector control knob to
efrost .
(ii) Turn the oven control to the light
symbol .
To defrost frozen foo s, place foo
in the centre of the oven an close
the oor.
To cool foo s after cooking prior to
refrigeration or freezing, place foo
in the centre of the oven with the
oor open.
Be safe
•Do not efrost stuffe poultry using
this metho .
•Do not efrost larger joints of meat
or poultry over 2kg / 4lb using this
metho .
•Never place uncooke foo which
is to be efroste next to cooke
foo which is to be coole , as this
can lea to cross contamination.
Please refer to the Cooking Guide for
more information on using the Defrost
function.
Slow cooking
Turn the selector control to either
conventional oven or fanne oven.
Do not try to slow cook using any of
the other oven functions.
For roasting joints of meat or poultry
an for pot roasts, preheat the oven to
190˚C - 200˚C an cook for 30 minutes,
then a just the oven temperature control
to 110 - 120˚C for the remain er of
the cooking time.
• Always use the top half of the oven
when slow cooking with the
conventional oven function.
• Slow cooking times will be about
three times as long as conventional
cooking times.
• Make sure that frozen foo s are
thoroughly thawed before cooking.
•Do not slow cook joints of meat or
poultry weighing more than 21⁄4kg /
41⁄2lb. Always use the top half of
the oven for slow cooking.

Automatic cooking is only available in
the main oven
The programmer buttons

The ‘function’ button in the centre is
use for setting the minute min er an
setting up the automatic cooking. See
below for etails.
Symbols on the LED display.
This ‘A’ symbol appears when either a
semi, or fully automatic program is
selecte . This symbol will flash while
a program is being set. Once a pro-
gram is set the symbol will light up,
an remain lit until the alarm soun s,
or the program is cancelle
This Bell symbol appears when the
Minute Min er function has been
selecte . While the Minute Min er is
being set, the Bell symbol flashes.
Once the length of time is set, the Bell
symbol remains lit until the time runs
own, or the function is cancelle .
This message an ‘A’ symbol appear
when you are aske to set the length
of time you require the oven to cook
automatically for. Using the Up an
Down buttons a justs this accor ingly.

To set the time of day
Press the Up an Down buttons
together for a few secon s, an
release.
The ‘’ in between the numbers on
the LED Display will begin to flash.
While the ‘’ is flashing it is possi-
ble to a just the time using the Up an
Down buttons. Once the time has
been set, allow approximately 30 sec-
on s before using any of the other
timer functions. This ensures that the
time will remain correct.
To select an alarm tone
There are three tones to chose from.
Press an hol the down button to lis-
ten to the first tone.
Release the down button an press it
again to listen to the secon tone etc.
Releasing the down button after the
tone has soun e will automatically
select that tone
Setting the minute minder
To set the Minute Min er, press the
Function button once. The bell symbol
will appear an start flashing. The
flashing only lasts for 5 secon s so the
time must be set within this time frame.
Use the Up an Down button to set
the length of time require . Once this
has been one, the Minute Min er is
set.
When the esire length of time has
counte own the alarm will soun .
To cancel the tone, press any of the
buttons.
To cancel the Minute Min er at any
time, press the function button an
then press the Up an Down buttons
together.

Semi-automatic cooking
There are two types of semi automatic
cooking available on this appliance.
The oven must be switche on, an in
use to use either of these functions
successfully.
The Duration metho allows you to set
the oven for a specific length of time.
If a ish nee e 2 hours to cook, then
it woul be possible for you to set the
oven to turn off 2 hours later. This
allows you to be sure that your foo
will be cooke for a set length of time
an no longer.
The En Time metho allows you to
enter a specific time when you woul
like the oven to switch off. If you wish
to leave the oven unatten e , then it
offers peace of min that the oven will
have turne itself off at the set time.
To cancel the semi automatic pro-
grams, press both the Plus an Minus
buttons together. This can be one at
any time uring the cooking process.
Then if necessary, re program.
For the instructions on how to use both
of these functions, please see the fol-
lowing page.
Fully automatic cooking
This function incorporates both a ura-
tion an an en time an is meant to be
use when you wish to elay the start
time.
We recommen that the first few times
this function is use you are in the
house, this will familiarise you with your
oven an prevents foo from being over
cooke or un er cooke .
Care must be taken when selecting
foo s for this function, it is not recom-
men e for certain foo items which
may spoil, or are sensitive to being left.
It is also a visable to set the en time to
be as close to your return as possible to
prevent foo being left stan ing.

Automatic cooking
These notes below are to help you with
using the automatic cooking facility.
Please make sure that you rea them
carefully before you start using the
automatic functions.
Do
• Familiarise yourself with the use of
the programmer.
• Select foo s which are as fresh as
possible, an as col as possible -
ie; preferably straight from the
refrigerator.
• Choose foo s which are suitable
for cooking from a col start, as
some ishes will be affecte by
being left uncooke , at room tem-
perature, perhaps for several
hours, especially when the weath-
er is hot.
• Make sure that meat, poultry an
uncooke foo are thoroughly
thawe before placing them in the
oven.
• Cover ishes with li s or foil, as
they may be left stan ing in the
oven for some time before cook-
ing.
Do not
• Never place warm foo in the
oven for elaye cooking - eg;
stews prepare by frying meat first
must be thoroughly coole before
placing in the oven.
• Do not cook ishes containing left
over cooke meat or poultry, or
pastry ishes with wet fillings, as
they are not suitable for automatic
cooking.
• Do not put foo items inten e for
elaye cooking into a warm oven
- allow the oven to cool before set-
ting for elaye cooking.
• Do not over-fill ishes containing
liqui s, as they might boil over.
• Never leave foo in the oven to
cool slowly after cooking, serve
imme iately or refrigerate.
