TwomodesofdiallingarepossiblewiththeCity200.OneisPulseDialling,the
otheris TouchToneTMDialling.Asthetwomodesarequitedifferent,it'simpol1ant
youfindoutwhichoneisappropriateforyourinstallation.
Althoughpulse-diallingphoneswillworkwithTouchToneTMexchanges,you will
notbeabletotakeadvantageofthefasterdiallingandextrafeaturesmade
possiblebytheirdigitaltechnologyunlessyourphoneiscapableof-andset for-
TouchToneTMdialling.
.For TouchToneTMdiallingsettheTONE/PULSEswitch totheTONE

Whenyou'rebusy,it'softeninconvenienttostopwhatyou'redoing,liftthehand-
set,dialthenumberandwaitforthecalltobeconnected.Forthisreason,the
City200enablesyoutodial withoutliftingthehandset;youonlyneedtopickup
the handsetwhenyourcallisanswered.ThisfeatureiscalledOn-Hookdialling.
1. PresstheON/OFFbuttononce;there'snoneedtoliftthehandsetatthis
point.TheOn-Hookindicatorwilllightup.
2. Whenyouhearthedialtone,dialthenumberyourequire.Ifnecessary,adjust
thevolumecontrolsoyoucanhearthediallingproceduremoreclearly.

Donotusebenzene,thinners,similarsolvents,abrasivepowderorsprays,as
thesecouldcausedamage.Keepit outofstrongsunlightandawayfromhotor
humidconditions.
Whatto do in the eventofafault
Carefullyfollowthesettingupinstructionsagaintomakesuretheywerecarried
outcorrectly.Takecaretodothisthoroughly:ifyoureturntheproducttousand
nofaultisfoundyouwillbechargedhandlingcosts.Ifthefaultpersists,carryout
thefollowingsimplechecks.
1. EnsurethattheTONE/PULSEswitchisin thecorrectpositionforyour
telephoneexchange,andtheTIMEDBREAKRECALL/EARTHRECALLswitch
isinthecorrectpositionforyourPABXsystem.
2. Ensurethatthehandsetiscorrectlyreplacedonthecradlesothatthegravity
switchisfullydepressed.
3. EnsurethattheCity200hasnotbeenleft'offhook'byleavingtheOn-hook
facilityswitchedon.
4. Ifthefaultpersiststrya differenttelephoneinthesamesockettomakesure
thefaultis notwithyourlineorsocket.
5. TrytheCity200in a differentsockettomakesurethatthefaultis notwiththe
firstsocket.
