1. DEFINITIONSOFTHECONCRETEBLOCKCLAMP
UsingtheConcreteBlockClamp,concreteblockswithamaximumweightof3,750kgcanbelifted
forpiling.Withtheuseofahoistingdevice,thisConcreteBlockClampcanbeattachedtoafork‐
lifttruck,afar‐reacherortoaloadingarmofatractor.Furthermore,theConcreteBlockClamp
canbeattachedtothehookofahoistingcrane.Thehoistingdevicecanbelinkeduptothe
ConcreteBlockClampwiththeuseofapin&bearingringconnection,aswellaswithahook&
chainconnection(seeFigures1&2below).



TheConcreteBlockClampconsistsoftwohingingcross‐arms,connectedlikeaharmonica(figure
3).Onthecontactgrips,inbetweentheclampingends,thereisarubbersurfacerelief,toprevent
damagingoftheconcrete.Withtheaidofamechanicallockingdevice,theclamparmscanremain
openwithoutbeingclosedbytheaccordionmovement.Thisallowstheclamptoreleasetheblock
(Figure5andChapter4).



TheConcreteBlockClampismeantforthesolepurposeoflifting,shiftingandstackingupof
concreteblocksupto3,750kg.ItisprohibitedtoutilisetheConcreteBlockClampforother
purposes.AnyotherusethanoutlinedbyBETONBLOCK®couldcausedangertotheuseror
bystanders.ThisiswhyanyotherusewithouttheexpresspermissionbyBETONBLOCK®is
prohibited.ShouldsomeoneutilisetheConcreteBlockClampforanyotherapplication,theEU
DeclarationofAgreement,formulatedbyBETONBLOCK®,willbenullified,andtheConcreteBlock
Clamp,oncemore,needstobebroughtintoconformitywiththeapplicableEuropeanDirectives.

3. SAFETY
InthisChapter(page7),thesafetymeasuresandinstructionsaredescribed,inordertowork
safelywiththeConcreteBlockClamp.






GENERAL
TheConcreteBlockClamphasbeendesignedinsuchawaythatinsecuresituationswillbe
preventedasmuchaspossible.Incertainsituations,whenthesecannotbeprevented,thereare
warnings,summarisedinpictographsontheClampitself,forthepresenceofdangers.Before
someoneisallowedtoworkwiththeConcreteBlockClamp,thispersonmustbeawareofthe
hazardspresentandtheavoidancethereof.

Theageoftheoperatorofthehoistingengineneedstocomplywiththelegally
implementedminimum.

TheConcreteBlockClampisonlyallowedtobeoperatedbycompetentpersons.
Theenginedriversneedtobesufficientlyinformedaboutpossibledangers,and
theyneedtohavereadtheoperatinginstructions.


NOISE

Pleasenoticethatthenoiselevelofthelinkedmachineryneverexceeds80
dB(A),causingworkerstopossiblywearhearingprotection.







Neverpositionyourselfunderneathaliftedload.


Itisforbiddentomoveintotheworkingareaofthemachinery.Pleasewarnwith
anaudiblesignal.


TheConcreteBlockClamphasamaximumweightliftof3,750kg.Itmaybethat
thefork‐lifttruck,towhichtheclamphasbeenmounted,hasitsowndefining
capacities.


TheConcreteBlockClamphasbeentestedandapprovedbyanindependent
authority.Thistestingneedstoberepeatedannually.


WhileoperatingtheConcreteBlockClamp,theoperatorneedstoremaininthe
cabinofthefork‐lifttruckorcrane.


Duringliftingwork,alwayskeeptheConcreteBlockClampaslowaspossibleto
theground.


WhentheconcreteblocksarebeingtransportedwiththeuseoftheConcrete
BlockClamp,theblockandclampalwaysmustbekeptbelowthevisualrangeof
theoperator.





TheConcreteBlockClampisbeingoperatedfromthecabinofafork‐lifttruckorcrane.

WhileworkingwiththeConcreteBlockClamp,theworkingorderbelowneedstobefollowed:

PleasecheckiftheConcreteBlockClamphasbeenproperlysecuredtotheliftingdevice
andthefork‐lifttruckorcrane;
MovetheConcreteBlockClamptowardstheconcreteblocks;
Lowertheclampovertheconcreteblock;
Lowertheclampalittlemore,untilthelockingmechanismisreleased;
Lifttheclamp;
Theharmonicaconstructionoftheclampmechanismfirmlyholdstheblockwhilelifting
(Figure6);
Drivewiththeconcreteblocktowardsthedesiredplace;

Makesurethatwhilemovingthefork‐lifttruckincludingaloadedConcrete
BlockClamp,connectedbymeansofapin&bearingring,theClampshould
notexceeda5˚angleofdeflectiontotheleftorright,agreaterdeflection
increasestheriskoftippingover.

LINKINGUP


NevermountifsomebodyislocatedbetweenthemachineandtheConcreteBlock
Clamp.Pleasewarntheseindividualsbyusinganaudialsignal.
Pleasecheckifthehoistingdevicehasbeenproperlyconnectedtothefork‐lift
truck.Usetheoriginalsafetychainsorsafetypins,andsecurethesafetyboltas
well.
Pleasekeeptotheschedulebelow,whileconnectingtheConcreteBlockClamp:

needstobechecked:

-Pleasecheckifallbolts,nutsandpinsarefixedproperly;
-Pleasecheckifthelockingpin(ifapplicable)issolidlyinplace;
-Pleasechecktherubbersurfacereliefsintheclampsfordefects.Replacethemiftheyare
damaged;
-Pleasecheckgeneraltechnicalstate;
-PleasetestifthelockingmechanismoftheConcreteBlockClampworksproperly;irregular
noisescouldindicateadefect;
-Avoidspeedingatalltimes.Makesuretodriveextraslowinbendsandcurves.




MovetheConcreteBlockClamptothepreferredlocation;

Disconnectthehook;
Liftthehook.

TRANSPORTONTRAILER
DuringtransportoftheConcreteBlockClamponatrailer,theClampneedstobefastened
properly.Makesuretotakenoteofthetotalheightofthetraileranditsload.

MakesuretopayattentiontothestabilityoftheConcreteBlockClampduring
transport.BeattentivethattheClampisproperlyfixed.Consideralsotheweight
oftheConcreteBlockClamp.
5. MAINTENANCE

GENERAL
Whenreplacementsareneeded,useonlyoriginalpartsatalltimes.Herefore,pleasecontactthe
manufacturerBetonblock.

Duringmaintenanceorcleaningduties,pleaselowertheConcreteBlockClampto
thegroundfirst,switchofftheengineandremovetheignitionkey.


Maintenanceshouldonlybeperformedbyqualifiedmechanicsonly.




CLEANING&STORAGE

TheConcreteBlockClampregularlyneedstobecleanedproperly.Cakedorconcreteresiduewill
affectaproperfunctioningoftheConcreteBlockClamp.Duringnormalmaintenance,theClamp
needstobedry‐cleaned.
Makesuretosticktothemaintenancepointslistbelow.Thesewillcontributetothelongevityof
yourConcreteBlockClamp:
BeforecleaningtheConcreteBlockClamp,coverthestickers,anddonotdirectlytarget
thesewiththejet;
CleantheConcreteBlockClampusingahigh‐pressurewashere;preventdamagingthe
finishbykeepingsufficientdistance(>0,75m).
Aftercleaningblow‐dryandlubricatetheConcreteBlockClampthoroughly,andgreaseall
movingparts;
StowawayyourConcreteBlockClampinasafeanddryplace.

LUBRICATION

TheindicatedlubricationpointsoftheConcreteBlockClampmustbelubricateddaily.Thepin,
bushandlockingpin(ifapplicable)needtobegreasedonadailybasis.

DISMANTLEMENT

Duringmaintenanceorcleaningduties,pleaselowertheConcreteBlockClampto
thegroundfirst,switchofftheengineandremovetheignitionkey.





