ommun ation system from beyerdynami . Thank you for
your trust. Please take a few minutes to read these
operating instru tions arefully before use.
The Unite system is versatile for various appli ations and
offers optimum digital sound transmission, for example
for group tours in ompanies or museums or for multilin-
gual meetings in onjun tion with a wireless interpreta-
tion system.
The Unite systems onsists of the following omponents:

– Unite TP bodypa k transmitter

1.1 Chargers

5. Do not use this apparatus near water.
6. Clean only with dry loth.
7. Do not blo k any ventilation openings. Inall in
a ordan e with the manufa turer’s inru tions.
8. Do not inall near any heat sour es su h as
radiators, heat regiers, oves, or other apparatus
(in luding amplifiers) that produ e heat.
9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or
grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two
blades with one wider than the other. A grounding
type plug has two blades and a third grounding
prong. The wide blade or the third prong are
provided for your safety. If the provided plug does
not fit into your outlet, onsult an ele tri ian for
repla ement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Prote t the power ord from being walked on or
pin hed pai ularly at plugs, onvenien e
re epta les, and the point where they exit from the
apparatus.
11. Only use atta hments/a essories spe ified by the
manufa turer.
12. Use only with the a, and, tripod, bra ket, or
table spe ified by the manufa turer, or sold with the
apparatus. When a a is used, use aution when
moving the a/apparatus ombination to avoid
injury from tip-over.
13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning orms or
when unused for long periods of time.
14. Refer all servi ing to qualified servi e personnel.
Servi ing is required when the apparatus has been
damaged in any way, su h as power supply ord or
plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or obje ts
have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has
been exposed to rain or moiure, does not operate
normally, or has been dropped.
Location
• The equipment must be set up so that the mains
swit h, mains plug and all onne tions on the rear of
the devi e are easily a essible.
• If you transport the equipment to another lo ation
take are to ensure that it is adequately se ured and
an never be damaged by being dropped or by im-
pa ts on the equipment.
Fire hazard
• Never pla e naked flames (e.g. andles) near the
equipment.
Humidity / heat sources
• Never expose the equipment to rain or a high level of
humidity. For this reason do not install it in the imme-
diate vi inity of swimming pools, showers, damp base-
ment rooms or other areas with unusually high
atmospheri humidity.
• Never pla e obje ts ontaining liquid (e.g. vases or
drinking glasses) on the equipment. Liquids in the
equipment ould ause a short ir uit.
• Do not install near any heat sour es su h as radia-
tors, heat registers, stoves or other devi e (in luding
amplifiers) that produ e heat.
Connection
• The equipment must be onne ted to a mains so ket
that has an earth onta t.
• Prote t the power ord by not walking or anding on
it or pin hing, this is onsidered for plugs espe ially
where they exit from the devi e.
• Lay all onne tion ables so that they do not present
a trip hazard.
• Whenever working on the equipment swit h off all in-
puts and outputs to the power supply.
• Che k whether the onne tion figures omply with
the existing mains supply. Serious damage ould
o ur due to onne ting the system to the wrong
power supply. An in orre t mains voltage ould da-
mage the equipment or ause an ele tri sho k.
• Please note that different operating voltages require
the use of different types of power able and plugs.

• If the equipment auses a blown fuse or a short ir uit,
The lightning flash within an equilateral triangle is

• Do not hold the mains able with wet hands. There
must be no water or dust on the onta t pins. In both
ases you ould re eive an ele tri sho k.
• The mains able must be firmly onne ted. If it is
loose there is a fire hazard.
• Always pull out the mains able from the mains
and/or from the equipment by the plug – never by the
able. The able ould be damaged and ause an
ele tri sho k or fire.
• Do not use the equipment if the mains plug is
damaged.
• If you onne t defe tive or unsuitable a essories,
the equipment ould be damaged. Only use
onne tion ables available from or re ommended
by beyerdynami .
Switching off
• When swit hing off the devi e, also dis onne t the
power plug from the power so ket. Make sure that
you do not pull on the able, but on the power plug.
Venti ation
• Do not insert obje ts into the ventilation grilles or
other openings. You ould damage the equipment
and/or injure yourself.
Disconnect
• For pluggable equipment, the so ket-outlet shall be
near the equipment and shall be easily a essible.
Maintenance
• Only lean the equipment with a slightly damp or dry
loth. Never use solvents as these damage the
surfa e.
Troub e shooting and servicing
• Never open the devi e yourself.
• Leave all servi e work to authorised expert personnel.
Charging
• A ompletely new battery may need to be harged and
dis harged several times before it has rea hed its full
hange apa ity.
• Do not throw used batteries in the household wae, but
hand them over to the lo al olle tion points.
• High ambient temperatures during harging (> +40 °C)
ae t the ei ien y of the harging pro ess and the life-
time of the re hargeable battery.
. Transmitters / receivers
Genera
• Prote t the transmitter/re eiver from moiure and
sudden impa ts. You ould either injure yourself or
others or damage the transmitter/re eiver.
Troub e shooting and servicing
• Never open the devi e yourself.
• Leave all servi e work to authorised expert personnel.
Maintenance
• Only lean the equipment with a slightly damp or dry
loth. Never use solvents as these damage the
surfa e..
Rechargeab e battery
• The transmitter/re eiver is operated with the following
battery type: BAT-3707, lithium-ion, 3.7 V, 1.88 Ah,
6.96 Wh (order no. 727.679)
• Use only a USB 2.0/3.0 ompliant 5V power supply to
harge the battery pa k via the integrated USB
type-C port (power onsumption is max. 500 mA).
• High temperatures, pai ularly in asso iation with a
high harging atus, result in irreversible damage of
the battery pa k.
• If you are not intending to use the battery for an
extended period or are planning to put it into orage,
it is advisable to lower the battery’s harging level to
around 50% and to ore it at temperatures of maxi-
mum 30 °C.
• In order to ensure safe transpo by land, sea and air,
the battery pa k used for the bodypa k transmitter is
teed a ording to the UN 38.3 transpo regulation
for lithium-ion batteries.
• Misuse or improper use ould damage the battery
pa k. In extreme ases, there is a risk of explosion,
heat, fire, smoke or gas.
• Never expose the battery pa k to ex essive heat su h
as sunshine, fire or the like.
• Do not expose the battery pa k to me hani al sho k.
• Charge the battery pa k before initial use.
• Use the spe ified hargers for harging the battery
pa k.
• Avoid omplete draining of the battery. This ould
damage the battery and shorten its servi e life.
• If you do not use the transmitter for several months,
the batteries should be harged at least twi e a year
to prevent deterioration in performan e due to self-
dis harge.
• Clean the harging onta ts of the transmitter with a
lean dry loth, if they be ome dirty.
• Do not short- ir uit the battery.
• The harging onta ts ould ause property damage,

• Keep the battery pa k lean and dry. Never expose
the devi e to rain or high humidity. Do not install it in
the immediate vi inity of swimming pools, shower
fa ilities, damp basements or other areas with
unusually high air humidity.

drinking glasses) on the devi e. Liquids in the devi es

• Do not blow into the mi rophone. In a ondenser

• Clip-on mi rophones are often very ompa t. If they
are a identally swallowed there is a risk of hoking.
Always keep this type of mi rophone away from small
hildren.

6. System information
6.1 DECT
Unite is based upon DECT (Digital Enhan ed Cordless
Tele ommuni ations) te hnology, an international
andard for tele ommuni ations using wireless
te hnology, and known in pai ular for its use with
ordless telephones. Wireless te hnology enables a
devi e to ommuni ate with a entral pro essing unit.
The modern, future-proof transmission plaorm in DECT
andard means the syem an be used worldwide
without regiration and free of harge. In addition,
DECT syems oer outanding se urity as for ea h
onne tion the re eiver is required to regier with the
transmitter using a onfidential ode. Below 2.4 GHz,
DECT uses dierent frequen ies to WLAN, Bluetooth®,
et . and therefore auses no inteeren e with these
networks.
6.2 Operating range
Unite is able to bridge very great dian es between the
various devi e types. Peak values up to 300m an be
a hieved in open areas. There are various influen ing
fa tors inside buildings. Operating range is reri ted by
the number and omposition of walls, eilings and
floors. Peorman e is inevitably reri ted as a result of
absorption and refle tion of the high frequen y range.
For example, reinfor ed on rete absorbs frequen ies
to a eain extent, whereas a metal- lad eiling
refle ts them.
A fuher influen ing fa tor is the number of a tive DECT
wireless onne tions onditional upon the frequen y
band available in ea h region. In Europe, for example, a
maximum of 120 hannels an be in use, whereas the
maximum for the Ameri an market is 60 hannels. The
total number of onne ted devi es an be mu h higher
than these key indi ators, however, sin e they relate
only to the number of simultaneously used DECT radio
onne tions a tively o upying a hannel.
A tual reri tion of the syem is generally only to be
expe ted when all influen ing fa tors o ur at on e.
For example: In one area of a building there are 70
simultaneously a tive DECT telephones; in this same
pa of the building there are 32 Unite groups, the trans-
mitters of whi h are attempting to rea h their groups
through several walls simultaneously. The walls are
made of reinfor ed on rete and all eilings are metal-
lad.
6.3 Automatic frequency and group management
A fuher benefit of this te hnology is automati
frequen y management. This means you need not
worry about frequen ies, as the syem itself ontrols
transmission and adjus automati ally for se ure
transmission. It re ognises the availability and
allo ation of frequen ies and adjus dynami ally and
automati ally. Inteeren e signals are identified at an
early age, enabling the syem to rea t immediately.
Without the knowledge of the user and/or liener, it
swit hes frequen y to ensure uninterrupted operation.
The syem also identifies all a tive wireless
onne tions and adapts these dynami ally so that
individual groups do not inteere with ea h other. This
means Unite an be used in parallel by up to 32 groups.
A high operating range and long operating time reate
able onditions for transmission.
All devi es are supplied with the group ID 256 and fixed
audio en ryption allowing qui k and easy setup. This
allows for qui k and easy initial use. The group ID
identifies devi es that an be pla ed in a viual group.
For example, all devi es within a building, a tour group
or a onferen e room. The transmitter will only transmit
the audio signal to a hannel with a predefined
hannel name. If there are several transmitters in a
group, the hannel for the respe tive transmitter an be
sele ted on the re eiver. You will need to eablish a
new pairing if you require several devi e groups or
se ure audio transmission that annot be inter epted
by another group using Unite devi es. See hapter on
“Create/define a new pairing”. The fa tory preset group
ID is 256.

To set a group ID between 1 and 255, follow the steps
below:
• Make sure that the Unite TP or Unite TH transmitter is
already swit hed on.
• Press and hold the menu button  for two se onds to
a tivate the main menu.
• Use the multifun tion button  on the Unite TP or
Unite TH transmitter to sele t “Syem” from the menu.
• Press the menu button  on the Unite TP or Unite TH
transmitter to open the required submenu.
• Use the multifun tion button  on the Unite TP or
Unite TH transmitter to sele t “Group ID” from the sub-
menu.

ID to transmit several audio hannels. In order to
dierentiate between audio hannels from several
transmitters on the re eiver, enter a five-digit name for
the hannel on the transmitter. Follow these eps:
• Make sure that the Unite TP or Unite TH transmitter is
already swit hed on.
• Press and hold the menu button  for approx. two se-
onds to a tivate the main menu.
• Use the multifun tion button  the sele t “System”
from the menu.
• Briefly press the menu button to open the required
submenu.
• Use the multifun tion button  to sele t the “Channel
Name” submenu.
• Briefly press the menu button to enter the hannel
name.
• Use the multifun tion button  to s roll through the
hara ters. When the requested hara ter appears,
onfirm using the menu button . You an enter five
hara ters at maximum.
• As soon as you sele t the onfigured transmitter on
the re eiver, the set name will be displayed on the
re eiver’s display.
• The diagram “Channel Name” shows an example of
two transmitters with dierent hannel names, and a
re eiver that an find both hannel names and

6.4 Encryption
The audio data is always en rypted with an AES-256 ode to
ensure a se ure transmission against unauthorised listening.
Important: The required key wi be generated within the
charging unit itse f and transmitted to the transmitters and
receivers during the pairing process.
As the en ryption ode is not transmitted wirelessly,
the syem is better prote ted again unauthorised
liening. Should the re eiver re eive a dierently
en rypted audio signal, for whi h no en ryption ode
has been saved, the re eived audio signal will be
muted. The re eiver display will also alternate between
showing the relevant hannel name and the “KEY!” error
message. En ryption of the audio signal is explained
s hemati ally in the “En ryption” diagram.
Note: For group ID 256 only, a fa tory preset ode is used
that annot be hanged. You an use this group ID for a
syem without pairing.
Important:
The transmitter and re eiver an only ommuni ate if
the settings for group ID, hannel name and en ryption

7. Create/define a new pairing
Transmitter and re eiver mu be paired to enable them
to ommuni ate with one another. The ode required
for this is generated in the harger and transmitted
during the pairing pro ess to both transmitter and
re eiver.
Note: For group ID 256 only, a fa tory preset ode is
used that annot be hanged. You an use this group
ID for a syem without pairing.
To establish a pairing with a harging unit, please
pro eed as des ribed below:
1. On the transmitter, set the group ID you wish to use
for pairing.
2. Inse one transmitter on y in the harger. If more
than one transmitter is used in the harger, pairing
will not a and the harger’s atus indi ator 
will show an error message (see table 2).
Alternatively you an onne t the transmitter using
a USB able onne ted to the harger’s USB po.
3. Inse one or more re eivers to be paired with the
transmitter into the harger’s harging ompa-
ment. You an also onne t another re eiver to the
harger using the USB po. Remove all re eivers
that are not to be paired. Should no re eiver be
onne ted to the harger, pairing information is
ored in the harger only. This is used for later
pairing without onne ting the transmitter to the
harger.
4. To transmit information from the transmitter to the
re eivers in the harging ompaments and to the
harger itself for future pairings, hold down the
“Pair/Reset” button on the harger for more than
2 se onds. The “Status” light will flash yellow for a
few se onds if the pairing is su essful. The atus
light will then remain yellow be ause the pairing
information is now also saved in the harger.
5. If you wish to pair other re eivers, remove the trans-
mitter and all re eivers from the harger, swit h to
“Pair & Charge” and inse the unpaired re eivers
into the harger. The pairing information will be
saved immediately in the unpaired re eivers. The
atus light on the re eiver will rapidly flash yellow
while this happens.
6. If you have no fuher devi es to pair, swit h the
harger to “Charge only” .
7. Swit h on the transmitter and one re eiver to he k
that they have both been paired su essfully. Aer
a few se onds the atus light on the re eiver will
light up green and show the hannel name of the
transmitter.
8. To delete pairing information ored in the harger,
hold the “Copy/Reset” button down for more than
5 se onds. The atus light will then remain
permanently green.

8. Charging
Before using the Unite syem for the fir time, you mu
harge the batteries integrated in the Unite TP or Unite
TH transmitters and Unite RP bodypa k re eiver. The
harging pro ess and relevant harge atus is shown
on the atus light of the transmitter/ re eiver.
There are two options for harging the battery:
1. Unite charger
• Conne t the harger to an easily a essible power
outlet.
• Swit h the harger to the position “Charge only” .
• Inse the transmitter/re eiver into the harging om-
pament. Please ensure the devi e is pla ed into the
harging ompament in su h a way as to ensure
proper onta t with the harger.
• The harging pro ess will a automati ally.
• It is not possible to use the transmitter/re eiver during
harging.
2. USB power adapter
• Conne t a separate USB power adapter to the USB
po on the transmitter/ re eiver.
• Conne t the plug of the USB power adapter to a
power outlet.
• The harging pro ess will a automati ally.
• It is not possible to use the transmitter/ re eiver
during harging.
• The battery’s harge atus is shown on the LED indi-
ator of the relevant transmitter/re eiver.

8.1.2 How to operate the Cockpit charger
The Unite CC o kpit ase is used for harging the
re hargeable batteries inside the bodypa k transmitters and
re eivers as well as transmitting the pairing information from
the transmitter to the re eivers. The Unite CC-24P has 6
harging units, ea h with 4 harging ompartments so that a
maximum of 24 bodypa k transmitters or re eivers an be
harged simultaneously. The Unite CC-36P has 9 harging
units ea h with 4 harging ompartments so that a maximum
of 36 harging ompartments are available.
Warning: When the Co kpit ase is in use, do not mount the
over on the ase. There is a risk of overheating and fire.
8.1.3 Mains connection
• Conne t the IEC onne tor of the power able to the mains
onne tion of the harging ase. Conne t the power plug
to a power outlet.
• Swit h on the harging ase via the on-o swit h.
• When not in use, swit h o the devi e and dis onne t the
power plug from the power so ket. Make sure that you do
not pull on the able, but on the power plug.
8.1.4 Automatic Firmware Update
• By using the Unite Co kpit Case you an upload firmware
updates to Unite transmitters/re eivers.
• With the urrent fa tory setting the Unite Co kpit Case will
automati ally update the firmware of the Unite
transmitters/re eivers during the first harging pro ess.
Just insert the transmitters/re eivers into the harging
ompartments.
During the firmware update the status indi ator light of the
Unite transmitters/re eivers will illuminate red. This pro ess
will take approx. 5 minutes. Should the pro ess take longer
than 10 minutes, turn the Unite Co kpit Case off and on
again. The update pro ess will then restart.
Attention:
Please note that after a su essful update to a new firmware
version, the Unite transmitters/re eivers are no longer
ompatible with older firmware versions.
8.1.5 Conditioning the battery
• In order to a hieve the maximum apa ity of the battery,
we re ommend dis harging the transmitters/re eivers
ompletely to arry out a omplete harging y le after-
wards.
• This also in reases the a ura y of the battery indi ator on
the display of the Unite transmitters/re eivers.
8.1.6 Service mode
• For maximum operational reliability, the Unite Co kpit
Case features a so- alled servi e mode.
• If the devi e is dis onne ted from the mains within 45
se onds after being swit hed on (e.g. by a idental
swit hing off), the devi e will boot in a safety mode and
he k itself.
• If this servi e mode is a tivated automati ally (after
booting unsu essfully), the system will return to its usual
operating mode after approx. 3 minutes.

.. How to wear the bodypack transmitter
There are two options for wearing the bodypa k
transmitter:
1. Neck rap
When using the supplied rap, you an wear the
bodypa k transmitter around the ne k. For safety
reasons, the faening will release when pulled rongly.
• Put the pins at the end of the rap into the faening
holes.
• Put the rap around the ne k.
2. Be t c ip
When using the belt lip, you an atta h the bodypa k
transmitter to lothing su h as a trouser or ski wai-
band.

the Unite RP-T bodypa k re eiver for short queries.
For best audio transmission we re ommend using an
external mi rophone or headset.

sensitivity of the mi rophone in the “Audio” main menu
under “Volume” in the menu items “Mini XLR Mi ”,

.. How to connect an externa audio source
• If required, you an onne t an external audio sour e
with a 3-pole mini ja k plug (3.5 mm) to the line-in
input .
• You an set the sensitivity of the external audio
sour e in the “Audio” main menu under “Volume” via
the “Line in” menu item.
• In rease the level for quiet audio sour es; redu e
level for loud audio sour es.

• To swit h on the bodypa k transmitter, briefly press
the button .
• In order to swit h o the bodypa k transmitter, press
the button  for approx. 5 se onds.
• When the devi e is swit hed on, the atus indi ator
displays the operating atus information. See also
the following “Status indi ator light  during opera-
tion” table.
• When the Unite TP bodypa k transmitter is swit hed
on, the adja ent main s reen will be displayed
indi ating that the transmitter is ready for operation.
• The individual symbols mean:
Display of all a tive speakers (Master, 1st slave, 2nd slave)
Highlighted display of urrent type of speaker (Master,
1st slave or 2nd slave)
Current hannel name
Bluetooth® status (various symbols; depending on the
status)
Headset onne ted

.. Set the channe name
In order to differentiate between audio hannels from
several transmitters on the re eiver, enter a five-digit
name for the hannel on the transmitter.
Please pro eed as des ribed in the following:
• Hold down the menu button on the transmitter for
more than 2 se onds to a tivate the main menu.
• Use the multifun tion button  to sele t “System”
from the menu.
• Press the menu button  to open the required sub-
menu.
• Use the multifun tion button  to sele t the “Channel
Name” submenu.
• Press the menu button  to set the hannel name.
• Use the multifun tion button  to s roll through the
hara ters. When the desired hara ter appears,
onfirm using the menu button . You an input max.

• As soon as you sele t the onfigured transmitter on
the re eiver, the set name will be displayed on the
re eiver’s display.
.. Adju the vo ume
Use the volume button  to adju the volume of a
onne ted headphone/headset or indu tion loop.
• Press “+” to in rease the volume.
• Press “-” to redu e the volume.
Impoant:
Please note the safety inru tions regarding too high
volume.
.. Mute function
Use the mute button to mute the internal or externally
onne ted mi rophone.
• If the “Push” setting is sele ted in the “Audio / Mute
Button” menu, hold the mute button down as long as
you want to mute the mi rophone. See also the
separate hapter on “Menu items”.
• If the “Toggle” setting is sele ted in the “Audio / Mute
Button” menu, you will mute the onne ted or
integrated mi rophone with the first press of the
button. With the se ond press of the button, you will
rea tivate the mi rophone. See also the separate
hapter on “Menu items”.
• Please keep a distan e of approx. 10 m to the
integrated mi rophone when speaking.
