SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
►Please read these inructions carefully and completely before using the product.
►Please observe all inructions given, especially those concerning the safe use of the
product.
►Do not use the product if it is defective.
►The company beyerdynamic GmbH & Co. KG accepts no liability for damage to the
product or injury to persons caused by careless, improper or incorrect use of the
product, or by use for purposes not specified by the manufacturer.
Intended use
Only use the product as described in this product manual. beyerdynamic accepts no
liability for damage to the product or injury to persons caused by careless, improper or
incorrect use of the product, or by use for purposes not specified by the manufacturer.
beyerdynamic is not liable for damage to USB devices that do not comply with
the USB specifications.
beyerdynamic is not liable for damage resulting from connection interruptions due to
batteries being empty or too old, or due to exceeding the Bluetooth® transmission range.
Please also observe the relevant country-specific regulations before using the product.
Adjuing the volume
High volumes and long liening times can permanently damage your hearing.
Because in-ear headphones sit directly in the ear canal, there is an increased
risk of hearing damage.
►Before inseing the earphones, set the volume to minimum. Only increase the volume
aer inseing the earphones.
►Do not use the in-ear headphones at high volume for a long time. When liening and
speaking normally with in-ear headphones, your own voice should ill be perceptible.
►In case of tinnitus, decrease the volume. If necessary, consult a doctor.
►Please note that excessively high volumes and long liening times may cause hearing
damage. Hearing impairments are irreversible, so always make sure that the volume is
appropriate. It is advisable to keep liening times as sho as possible at high
volumes.

Reducing perception of ambient noise
In-ear headphones draically reduce perception of ambient noise. Using in-ear
headphones in road traic can be potentially dangerous. The user’s hearing mu not be
impaired to the extent that it causes road safety risks.
►Do not use the in-ear headphones within the action area of potentially dangerous
machines and tools.
►Avoid using in-ear headphones in situations where hearing mu not be impaired –
paicularly in road traic, when crossing a level crossing or on a conruction site.
Changed acouic perception
For many people, wearing in-ear headphones takes some getting used to because the
acouic perception of their own voice and body as well as the inner ear sounds that
occur while walking is dierent from the “normal” situation without in-ear headphones.
However, this initially range sensation usually diminishes aer wearing them for a while.
Cleaning
Di on the eaips and the formation of a warm and humid climate in the ear canal can
cause an increased level of germs, which can increase the risk of an ear canal infection.
►Regularly clean the eaips.
General care inructions
►Use a so cloth moiened with water to clean all pas of the True-Wireless head-
phones. Make sure that no liquid enters the housing or the transducer.
►Do not use cleaners containing solvents, as these can damage the suace.
Risk of swallowing
►Keep small pas, such as product, packaging and accessories, away from children
and pets. They conitute a choking hazard if swallowed.
Power and connecting cable
Use only the cable we supply to connect the unit for both charging and connecting to a
laptop.
Using the batteries
Danger from heat, water and mechanical ress
Excessive heat, water and mechanical ress may cause explosion, heat, fire, smoke or
fumes. Injuries and irreversible damage to the battery may result.
►Do not expose the battery to excessive heat, direct sunlight or fire. There is a risk of
explosion, fire, smoke or gas.
►Do not subject the battery to mechanical ress (e.g. crushing). This may cause
irreversible damage to the battery, or explosion or injury.
►Do not open the housing or remove the battery.

►Only use a USB 2.0/3.0 andard-compliant 5 V power supply unit to charge the battery
via the integrated USB type C socket.
Storing the battery
►If the battery is not going to be used for an extended period, set the charge level to
approximately 50% of the maximum capacity and ore it at temperatures up to max.
30°C.
Environmental conditions
►Do not expose the product to rain, snow, liquids or moiure.

FIRST STEPS
Removing from packaging and oring
►Open the charging case and take out the earphones.
►Carefully choose the eaips that are right for you and connect Free BYRD to your
playback device (see Page 14).

Using and fitting the eaips
Five pairs of silicone eaips and three pairs of foam eaips are included in the supplied
accessories for optimal fit and sound quality.
Every ear is unique, and the size of the eaip required may vary from one ear to another.
Take your time and choose the right eaips for you to maximise your liening pleasure.

►To use the eaips, carefully slip them over the Free BYRD.

Using foam eaips
If you move around a lot, choose the foam eaips.
►Give them a sho squeeze before inseing them into the
ear.
They expand again aer inseion and provide good
suppo during any activity.
If you are using them regularly, we recommend changing the eaips every three months.

How to inse the earphones
For a peect fit, inse the earphones into your ear with a
slight twiing movement.
Make sure that the earphone fits properly.
See illuration.

Charging the battery
We recommend you use only the supplied USB cable to charge the battery.
Inse the earphones into the charging case.
Plug the USB cable into the charging socket on the
charging case.
Alternatively, place the charging case on a QI® charging
ation.
The charging LEDs indicate the charging status.
Remarks on the life of Li-ion batteries
•When fully charged, disconnect the USB cable from the charger and the product.
• CAUTION! High temperatures, especially with a high charge level, can
cause irreversible damage.
•If the battery is not used or is ored for extended periods of time, it is recommended to
charge it to approx. 50% and ore it at no more than 20°C.
•Switch o the battery-powered product aer use.
Displaying the battery charge level
The charge level of the charging case is indicated by the LED.

The MIY App from beyerdynamic can be downloaded from the App
Store or Google Play.

Free BYRD is compatible with Bluetooth® playback devices that suppo the following
profiles:
•A2DP (for audio transmission)
•HFP/HSP (for phone operation and voice assiants)
•AVRCP (for control signal transmission)

SUPPORTED AUDIO CODECS
Within the A2DP profile, Free BYRD suppos the audio codecs SBC, AAC and aptX™
Adaptive. The highe audio quality is oered by aptX™ Adaptive.
Please note that only the codecs available in the playback device can be used for audio
transmission.
The playback device and Free BYRD automatically agree on the be mutually available
codec in the following order:
1. aptX™ Adaptive
2. aptX™
3. AAC
4. SBC
Mo playback devices do not show which codec is actively in use.
OPERATION
Free BYRD can be operated via the integrated Touch Inteace by slightly tapping the
beyerdynamic Y.
Connecting to a device via Bluetooth®
Before the product can be used, it mu be connected to a mobile phone or other
Bluetooth®-enabled device. The connection process may dier depending on the device.
►Refer to the operating inructions of the device to which the product is to be
connected.
To peorm Pairing
While the earphones are in the charging case, tap the le
or right Touch twice and hold the second time ( ) until
the LEDs flash alternately orange and blue.
Select Free BYRD in the pairing li on your smaphone.

To peorm Google Fa Pair®
While the earphones are in the charging case, tap Touch
twice and hold the second time ( ) until the LEDs flash
alternately orange and blue.
In pairing mode, bring the earphones close to a Fa-Pair-
enabled smaphone.
Tap on Connect in the smaphone.
To delete the pairing li
►While the earphones are in the charging case, tap the le
or right Touch twice and hold the second time ( , 6 s)
until the LEDs flash yellow three times.
The list of already paired Bluetooth® devices (maximum
6) is deleted, and the in-ear headphones switch to the
Bluetooth® pairing mode.

Playing media
To a / pause playback:
►Tap once ( ) to a or op sound reproduction.
To switch between noise cancelling (ANC) and transparency
mode
►Tap twice ( ) to switch between active noise cancellation
(ANC) and transparency mode.
Noise cancellation and transparency mode can be
deactivated in the MIY App.
Playing the previous / next track
►Tap le three times ( ) to play the previous track.
►Tap right three times ( ) to play the next track.
Switching on voice assiant
To switch on voice assiant:
►Tap and hold once ( ) to activate the voice assiant.
►To use the Alexa voice assiant, you mu select it once in
the MIY App.
Adjuing the volume
To increase / decrease the volume:
►To increase the volume, tap twice right and hold the
second time ( ).
►To decrease the volume, tap twice le and hold the
second time ( ).

Resetting to factory settings
All personal data is deleted if the device is reset to the factory settings!
To reset to factory settings:
►While the earphones are in the charging case, tap the le
or right Touch twice and hold the second time ( , > 10 s)
until the LEDs flash red three times.
Peer Pairing
To pair new earphones (e.g. when replacing defective or lo earphones), both sets of
earphones mu be reset to factory settings so that they can connect.
During peer pairing, the LEDs on the earphones flash rapidly blue.

DISPOSAL
This symbol on the product, in the operating inructions or on the
packaging means that the electrical and electronic devices mu be
disposed of separately from household wae at the end of their life
cycle.
►Always dispose of used devices in accordance with the regulations in
force.
►In the EU, please use the recycling collection syems for this. To
return old devices, batteries and rechargeable batteries, you have
free collection points and a free return to beyerdynamic available to
you, together with other recycling acceptance points where
applicable. You can obtain the addresses of collection points
for public wae disposal from your local authority. For fuher
information, please contact your local authority or the dealer from
whom the product was purchased.
Battery disposal
►Dispose of batteries separately from the product aer use in accordance with the
regulations in force. They mu not be disposed of in household wae. Returning
batteries is free of charge.
►Discharge the batteries before disposal.
Non-deructive removal of the battery by the end user is not possible with this product.
