IMPORLANT SAFEGUARDS
Please read these operating instructions through carefully before connecting your
device to the mains, in order to avoid damage due to incorrect use. Please pay parti-
cular attention to the safety information. If you pass the device on to a third party,
these operating must be handed over.
01. Incorrect operation and improper harding can lead to faults on the device and
injuries to the user.
02. In the event of improper use or incorrect handling, no liability can be accepted for
any damages that may occur.
03. Before you put the plug into the socket, please check that the type of current and
mains voltage correspond to the instructions on the nameplate on the underside
of the appliance.
04. Keep the base away from damp, and protect from splashes.
05. Do not immerse the unit or mains plug in water or other Iiquids, there is danger
to life due to electric shock! However, if this should occur, remove the mains plug
immediately and then have the unit checked by an expert before using it again.
06. Do not operate the clevice if the mains cabIe or the mains plug show signs of
damage, if the device has fallen on the floor or has been otherwise damaged.
In such cases take the device to a specialist for checking and repair, if necessary.
07. Ensure that the main cabIe does not hang over sharp edges and keep it away
from hot objects and open flames. Only pull it out of the socket by the plug, not
by the cabIe.
08. This device is not suitable for commercial use nor for use in the open air.
09. You should never leave the device unattended during use.
10. Children cannot recognize the hazards which attend improper handling of
electrical devices. Therefore, children should never use electrical household
appliances unsupervised.
11. Use the kettIe only with the base supplied, and do not use the base for
any other purposes.
12. Do not overfill! Check the level indicator (MAX) inside the main body when filling.
13. Dangerous:If the kettIe is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.
14. Never remove the kettle from its base while in operation. Switch the appliance
off first.
15. Take care to close the lid properly before switching on. Otherwise, the appliance
will not switch off automaticalIy and hot water may overflow.
16. The kettle is for heating water only, and is not to be used for any other fluitis.
17. Caution:Danger of burn! The kettle becomes very hot during use. So hold it by
the handIe only.
18. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its
service agent or similar qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
19. Warning:Do not remove the lid while the water is boiling.
20. Kettle is only to be used with the stand provided.

BEFORE FIRST USE
01. Remove all packaging material!
02. Clean the kettle by filling with cIean water and bringing to the boil
(see “operation”). Pour away the water then repeat the operation.
OPERATION
01. Wind out the mains cord only as much as necessary. Draw it out through the
opening in the base and connect it to a suitable mains socket.
02. Open the lid and pour water of the desired quantity in. While doing so, watch the
water level mark. Never go below the minimum (0.5L) or above the maximum
(MAX) marks.
03. Close the lid and ensure that thee kettle is switched off before setting it
on the base.
04. Switch on, the appliance will begin to operate, and the indicator Iight will come on.
05. When the water boils, the appliance will switch off automatically and the
indicator light will go off.
06. If you wish to stop the boiling process or interrupt it temporarily, switch the
appliance off by pushing the switch upwards, before removing the kettIe
from its base.
Note:This appliance with a safety device which automatically switches off the heater
element if the appliance is inadvertently switched on when empty, or if it boils dry.
In this case, let the appliance cool down completely, before filling water again.
CLEANING AND CARE
PIease also observe the safety advice for this.
01. Always remove the plug from the mains socket before cleaning the base. Let the
kettle cool down completely.
02. Clean the outside of the kettle and the base with a soft dry cloth. Do not use
scouring materials.
03. Descale at regular intervals. Use a descaling agent, which can be obtained from
specialist shops given.
