D. Setting Up the KNG-M for Handset Use
A. Make sure that the radio firmware is 5.2.7 or newer.
B. Turn radio on with Home button pressed. Radio will go into “Configuration Mode”.
C. Scroll to “Mobile I/O”. Turn “Mobile I/O to “ON”.
D. Cycle radio power.
E. Connect the radio to the computer using the USB cable.
F. Using the KAA0732 (Ver. 2.3 or newer) NeoVision editor software, go to GLOBAL/COMMON/MOBILE I/O.
G. On Input 2 Mode, choose Handset Off Hook.
H. On Input 2 Active Level, choose High.
I. On Input 2 Type, choose Switch.
J. Check what device the handset is connected to (Mobile or RCH 1-4).
K. If using RES, bring up the editing software, on the right side, click Mobile I/O.
L. Follow step G to step I.
E. Operation
A. To answer a call, lift the Telephone Handset from the cradle. Then put the Telephone Handset against the
user’s ear. Speaker volume is adjustable through the Up and Down button on the side as shown.
B. If privacy is desired, adjust the KNG-M Remote volume control to minimum.
C. KNG-M Remote volume control does not affect the audio level on the Telephone Handset.
D. To transmit, press the PTT button on the side of the Handset then talk to the microphone about 2-3 inches
away.
E. To activate the EMERGENCY function, press and hold (about 2 -3 secs.) the red EMERGENCY button on top
of the Handset.
F. The EMERGENCY function must be turned on in the radio using KAA0732 programming software. Please
refer to KNG-M User’s Manual for setup.
F. Installation
1. Plan the installation carefully. Make sure the Handset Cradle is
strategically located within the area of operation.
2. Once the location is determined, drill the pilot holes using the Mounting
Plate holes as a template.
3. Loosen the two thumbscrews on the side of the Mounting Plate then un-
mount the top half of the Mounting Plate.
4. Fasten the Mounting Plate using the included screws.
5. Fasten the other half of the Mounting Plate on the bottom of the Handset Cradle
using the included Cradle Mounting screws and nuts.
6. Install the Handset Cradle to the Mounting Plate.
7. Tighten the two thumbscrews on the side of the Cradle.
8. Place the Telephone Handset into the Handset Cradle. The Telephone Handset is held in place by built in
magnets.
9. Install the DB25 Mic Interface into the KNG-M DB25 accessory port. Make sure to tighten the locking
screws.
10. Plug the RJ45 connector from the Handset into the RJ45 jack in the DB25 Mic Interface.
11. Install the cable clamp on the side of the Remote mounting bracket to hold the Handset cable in place.
