Intended use
Your Black & Decker Thermal Leak Detector has been
designed to easily detect energy leaks in your home. This
product is intended for consumer use only.
Safety instructions
General power tool safety warnings
@Warning! When using battery-powered
appliances, basic safety precautions, including
the following, should always be followed to
reduce the risk of re, leaking batteries, personal
injury and material damage.
uRead all of this manual carefully before using the
appliance.
uThe intended use is described in this manual. The use of
any accessory or attachment or the performance of any
operation with this appliance other than those
recommended in this instruction manual may present a
risk of personal injury.
uRetain this manual for future reference.
Using your appliance
Always take care when using the appliance.
uDo not immerse the appliance in water.
uDo not open body casing. There are no user-serviceable
parts inside.
uDo not operate the appliance in explosive atmospheres,
such as in the presence of ammable liquids, gases or
dust.
uNever look directly into the light or shine the light into
another persons eyes.
Safety of others
uThis appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible
for their safety.
uChildren should be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the appliance.
After use
uWhen not in use, the appliance should be stored in a dry,
well ventilated place out of the reach of children.
uChildren should not have access to stored appliances.
uWhen the appliance is stored or transported in a vehicle it
should be placed in the boot or restrained to prevent
movement following sudden changes in speed or
direction.
uThe appliance should be protected from direct sunlight,
heat and moisture.
Inspection and repairs
uBefore use, check the appliance for damaged or defective
parts. Check for breakage of parts, damage to switches
and any other conditions that may affect its operation.
uDo not use the appliance if any part is damaged or
defective.
uHave any damaged or defective parts repaired or replaced
by an authorised repair agent.
uNever attempt to remove or replace any parts other than
those specied in this manual.
Additional safety warnings
uIf liquid crystal comes in contact with your skin: Wash
area off completely with plenty of water. Remove
contaminated clothing.
uIf liquid crystal gets into your eye: Flush the affected
eye with clean water and then seek medical attention.
uIf liquid crystal is swallowed: Flush your mouth
thoroughly with water then seek medical attention.
Additional safety instructions for non-rechargeable
batteries
@Warning! Batteries can explode, or leak, and
can cause injury or re, to reduce this risk:
uMake sure that the on/off switch is in the off position
before inserting the battery(s). Inserting batteries into
power tools and appliances that have the switch on invites
accidents.
uUnder abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from
the battery, avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs,
ush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek
medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause
irritation or burns.
uCarefully follow all instructions and warnings on the
battery label and package.
uAlways insert batteries correctly with regard to polarity (+
and -), marked on the battery and the equipment.
uDo not short battery terminals.
uDo not charge batteries.
uDo not mix old and new batteries. Replace all of them at
the same time with new batteries of the same brand and
type
uKeep batteries out of the reach of children.
uRemove batteries if the device will not be used for several
months.
uNever attempt to open for any reason.
uDo not store in locations where the temperature may
exceed 40 °C.
