Your BLACK+DECKER BHFEA420J, BHFEA520J cordless
vacuum cleaners have been designed for vacuum cleaning
purposes. These appliances are intended for household use
only.
Read all of this manual carefully

Additional safety instructions
After use
uUnplug the charger before cleaning the
charger or charging base.
uWhen not in use, the appliance should
be stored in a dry place.
uChildren should not have access to
stored appliances.
Residual risks
Additional residual risks may arise when
using the tool which may not be included
in the enclosed safety warnings. These
risks can arise from misuse, prolonged
use etc.
Even with the application of the relevant
safety regulations and the implementa-
tion of safety devices, certain residual
risks can not be avoided. These include:
uInjuries caused by touching any
rotating/moving parts.
uInjuries caused when changing any
parts, blades or accessories.

of a tool. When using any tool for
prolonged periods ensure you take

Batteries and chargers
Batteries
uNever attempt to open for any reason.
uDo not expose the battery to water.
uDo not expose the battery to heat.
uDo not store in locations where the
temperature may exceed 40°C.
uDo not store the product or battery
inside vehicles exposed to direct
sunlight. May cause re or explode.
uCharge only at ambient temperatures
between 10°C and 40°C.
uCharge only using the charger
provided with the appliance/tool.
Using the wrong charger could result
in an electric shock or overheating of
the battery.
uWhen disposing of batteries, follow
the instructions given in the section
“Protecting the environment”.
u Do not damage/deform the battery
pack either by puncture or impact, as
this may create a risk of injury and re.
uDo not charge damaged batteries.
uUnder extreme conditions, battery
leakage may occur. When you notice
liquid on the batteries carefully wipe
the liquid off using a cloth. Avoid skin
contact.
uIn case of skin or eye contact, follow
the instructions below.
Warning! The battery uid may cause
personal injury or damage to property.
In case of skin contact, immediately

rinse with water. If redness, pain
or irritation occurs seek medical

Chargers
Your charger has been designed for a
specic voltage. Always check that the
mains voltage corresponds to the voltage
on the rating plate.
Warning! Never attempt to replace the
charger unit with a regular mains plug.
uUse your BLACK+DECKER charger
only to charge the battery in the
appliance with which it was supplied.
Other batteries could burst, causing
personal injury and damage.
uNever attempt to charge non-
rechargeable batteries.
uIf smoke is seen while charging the
product, immediately unplug the cord
and contact Stanley Black & Decker
customer support at 1577-0933.
uIf the fault interrupter is activated the
moment the product starts charging
when placed on the charger, stop
charging immediately and contact
customer support.
uBe sure to conrm that the cordless
vacuum cleaner has been turned off
before charging it.
uDo not use multiple products in a
single outlet (power strip) at the same
time. Excessive heat from the outlet
may cause re. Tripping the breaker
may turn off the power.
uDo not forcibly bend the power cord
or subject it to pressure from heavy
objects. Damage to the electric cord
may cause electric shock or re.
uUnplug the product when it has not
been used for a long time or once the
battery has been fully charged. May
cause electric shock, short circuit or
re.
uUsing a transformer carries the risk of
electric shock or re due to differences
in voltage, frequency and power rating.
uDiscontinue use if the product has
been submerged in water or if water
has entered the product.
uBe sure to unplug the product when
cleaning it.
uBe sure to unplug the product before going
outside. May cause short circuit or re.
uInserting or poking with items such as
chopsticks or screwdrivers may cause
the charging terminal to short circuit.
uBe careful not to let animals gnaw on
the power cord.
uEnsure the presence of a guardian
when used by children or others who
lack the experience or knowledge to
properly handle the product.
uIf the supply cord is damaged, it must
be replaced by the manufacturer or an
authorised BLACK+DECKER Service
Centre in order to avoid a hazard.

Assembly (Fig. A)
uAlign the top of the extension tube (8) with the vacuum
inlet (7a) as shown in Fig. A.
uPush the extension tube (8) onto the vacuum inlet (7a) so
it locks into position.
uTo remove an the extension tube, press the extension
tube release button (7) and gently pull the extension tube
off.
Warning! When not in use position the unit with the rear of
the vacuum facing a wall so that any inadvertent fall of the unit
would contact a wall and not people or pets.

Charging the battery (Fig. B)
Warning! Use only with the supplied charger.
From new, the rechargeable cells of the product need a
minimum charge time of 5hours to ensure full power.
uThe unit must be turned Off in order to charge.
uPlug the jack plug (12a) of the charger (12) into the charg-
ing port (2) of the vacuum.
uPlug the charger into a standard electrical outlet.
uWhile charging, the charger may get warm, this
is perfectly normal and safe. It is safe to leave the
appliance connected to the charger indenitely. The
charger automatically reduces power consumption
when charging is complete.
Warning! Do not charge the battery at ambient temperatures
below 4 °C or above 40 °C. Follow all charging instructions
and do not charge the appliance outside of the temperature
range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at
temperatures outside of the specified range may damage the
battery and increase risk of fire.
State of charge indicator (Fig. C)
This appliance include a state of charge indicator (3) which
consists of three LED lights that indicate the level of charge
remaining in the battery. This feature is only activated when
the vacuum is powered on and when the vacuum is on
charge.
The state of charge indicator is an indication of approximate
levels of charge remaining in the battery pack.
The LED battery indicator displays the remaining charge
and warns you when the battery is low. The nal LED will
ash continuously when there is only very little runtime
remaining.
Note: The state of charge indicator is only an indication
of the charge left on the battery.
It does not indicate tool functionality and is subject to variation
based on product components, temperature and end-user
application.
Use
This vacuum cleaner can be used in one of two ways.
uWith the extension tube (8) and the oor head (9) as.
uWith the crevice tool (11) and the vacuum.
Mounting accessories (Fig. D)
uThe crevice tool (11) allows for vacuuming in narrow and
hard to-reach places.
uTo attach the crevice tool (11) press into vacuum inlet (7a)
so it locks into position as shown in gure D.
uTo release the crevice tool (11) press the crevice tool
release button (11a) and gently pull the extension tube off.

Switching ON and OFF (Fig. E)
uTo switch ON, push the on/off power button (1).
uFor increased power, push the On/Off button (1) again.
uPush the On/Off button (1) a third time to turn the unit off.
Note: The state of charge indicator LEDs (3) will illuminate
while the vacuum is ON.
uTo switch OFF, slide the on/off power switch (1) to the “O“
position.
uReturn the product to the charger immediately after use
so that it will be ready and fully charged for the next
use. Ensure that the product is fully engaged with the
charger plug.
Floorsense
Floorsense is active in the low speed. When a carpet is
detected, the performance of the unit is automatically
increased to high speed. When a hardoor is detected, the
performance of the unit reduces to low speed.
Cleaning and emptying the vacuum
Warning! Projectile/Respiratory Hazard: Never use the vac
without its filter.
Warning! The filter is re-usable, do not confuse it with a
disposable dust bag, and do not throw it away when the
product is emptied. We recommend that you replace the
filter every 6–9 months depending on frequency of use.
To empty the dust canister (Fig. F, G, H, I)
uPush down the dust canister release button (4) to
release and remove the dust canister (5) from the vacuum.
uUse your index nger and thumb to pinch the lter
housing tabs and pull the lter housing (6) from the
dust canister as shown in gure G.
uPlace the dust canister over a trash can and empty the
dust canister as illustrated in gure H.
uRemove the foam lter (6a) from the lter housing as
shown in gure I.
uShake or lightly brush any loose dust off of the foam
lter (6a) and lter (6).
uRinse out the dust canister (5) with warm soapy water.
uWash the lters with warm soapy water.
uEnsure the lters are completely dry before retting the
lters into the lter housing.
uRet the clean and dry foam lter (6a) into the lter
housing (6).
uInstall the lter housing into the dust canister (5).
uInstall the dust canister onto the vacuum, until it “clicks”
rmly into position.
Removing and cleaning the beater bar
(Fig. J, K)
Warning! To reduce the risk of injury from moving parts,
disconnect the oor head and extension tube from the vacuum
before cleaning or servicing.
uTo remove the beater bar (9b) from the oor head (9) Slide
the beater bar release button (9a) to the rear of the unit.
uThe beater bar (9b) can now be removed and cleaned.
Safe storage (Fig. L)
The unit can be safely stored, when not in use, by placing the
catch on the rear of the motor unit onto the storage station
(13) as shown in gure L.
Wall mounteing
The product can be attached to a wall to provide a
convenient storage for the appliance.
When mounting to a wall, make sure the mounting method
is suitable for the wall type and is appropriate to the weight
of the appliance.
uMark the location of the charging station screw holes on
the wall (within reach of an electrical outlet for charging
the vacuum while it is on the storage station.
uFix the storage station to the wall using appropriate
screws and plugs for the type of wall, and weight of the
appliance.
Maintenance
Your BLACK+DECKER cordless appliance has been designed
to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of main-
tenance. Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon
proper tool care and regular cleaning.
Warning! Before performing any maintenance on cordless
appliances:
uRun the battery down completely if it is integral and then
switch off.
uUnplug the charger before cleaning it. Your charger does
not require any maintenance apart from regular cleaning.
uRegularly clean the ventilation slots in your appliance/
charger using a soft brush or dry cloth.
uRegularly clean the motor housing using a damp cloth. Do
not use any abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.
Replacing the lters
The lters should be replaced every 6 to 9 months and when-
ever worn or damaged. Replacement lters are available from
your BLACK+DECKER dealer.
uRemove the old lters as described above.
uFit the new lters as described above.

연장관 결합 (그림 A)
w연장관 (8) 의 상단을 그림 A 와 같이 진공 청소기 흡입구 (7a)
와 나란히 합니다.
w연장관 (8) 을 진공 흡입구 (7a) 에 밀어 넣으면 제자리에
고정됩니다.
w연장관을 제거하려면 연장관 해제 버튼 (7) 을 누르고 연장관을
부드럽게 당겨 빼냅니다.

w충전하는 동안 충전기가 뜨거워질 수 있지만 이는 지극히
정상이며 안전합니다. 기기를 충전기에 무기한 연결된 상태로
두는 것도 안전합니다. 충전기는 충전이 완료되면 자동으로
전력 소비를 줄입니다.
경고! 주변 온도가 4 °C 이하 또는 40 °C 이상인 장소에서는 배터리
를 충전하지 마십시오. 모든 충전 지침을 따르고 제품을 지침에서
지정한 온도 범위를 벗어나 충전하지 않도록 합니다. 부적절하게 충
전하거나 지정된 범위를 벗어난 온도에서 충전하면 배터리가 손상
되고 화재의 위험이 높아질 수 있습니다.
배터리 잔량 표시등 (그림 C)
본 기기에는 3 개의 LED 표시등으로 구성된 배터리 잔량 표시등 (3)
가 있으며 잔존 배터리 충전량을 나타냅니다. 본 기능은 청소기의
전원이 켜져 있고 청소기가 충전 중일 때만 활성화됩니다.
배터리 잔량 표시등은 배터리 팩에 남아 있는 대략적인 충전 수준
을 나타냅니다.
LED 배터리 표시기는 잔존 충전량을 표시하고 배터리가 부족하
면 경고합니다. 남은 런타임이 거의 없을 때 최종 LED 가 계속 깜
박입니다.
참고: 배터리 잔량 표시등은 배터리에 잔존 충전량을 나타내는 것
일 뿐입니다.
도구 기능을 나타내지 않으며 제품 구성 요소, 온도 및 최종 사용자
응용 프로그램에 따라 달라질 수 있습니다.
사용
본 진공 청소기는 두 가지 방법 중 하나로 사용할 수 있습니다.

진공 청소 및 비우기
경고! 발사체 / 호흡기 위험: 필터 없이 진공 청소기를 사용하지 않
도록 합니다.
경고! 필터는 재사용이 가능 하므로 일회용 먼지봉투와 혼동하지
마시고, 제품이 비었을 때 버리지 않도록 합니다. 필터는 사용 빈도
에 따라 6 - 9 개월에 한 번씩 교체하는 것을 권장합니다.
먼지통을 비우려면 (그림 F, G, H, I)
w먼지통 분리 버튼 (4) 을 눌러 먼지통 (5) 을 진공에서 분리하고
제거합니다.
w집게 손가락과 엄지손가락을 사용하여 필터 하우징 탭을 집고
그림 G 와 같이 먼지 통에서 필터 하우징 (6) 을 잡아당깁니다.
