Your BLACK+DECKER STC1820EPCF trimmer have been
designed for trimming and nishing lawn edges and to cut
grass in conned spaces. This appliance is intended for
consumer use only.

Be aware that freshly cut grass is
damp and slippery.

uNever cross gravel paths or roads
while the appliance is running.
uNever touch the cutting line while the
appliance is running.
uDo not put the appliance down until the
cutting line has come to a complete
standstill.
uUse only the appropriate type of
cutting line. Never use metal cutting
line or shing line.
uBe careful not to touch the line
trimming blade.
uKeep hands and feet away from the
cutting line at all times, especially
when switching on the motor.
uBefore using the appliance and after
any impact, check for signs of wear or
damage and repair as necessary.
uNever operate the appliance with
damaged guards or without guards in

uTake care against injury from any
device tted for trimming the lament
line length. After extending new cutter
line always return the machine to
its normal operating position before
switching on.

Electrical safety
#Your charger is double insulated;
therefore no earth wire is
required. Always check that the
mains voltage corresponds to the
voltage on the rating plate. Never
attempt to replace the charger
unit with a regular mains plug.
uIf the supply cord is damaged, it must
be replaced by the manufacturer or an
authorised BLACK+DECKER Service
Centre in order to avoid a hazard.

Charging the battery (Fig. A)
The battery needs to be charged before rst use and
whenever it fails to produce sufcient power on jobs that were
easily done before.
The battery may become warm while charging; this is normal
and does not indicate a problem.
Warning! Do not charge the battery at ambient temperatures
below 10 °C or above 40 °C. Recommended charging
temperature: approx. 24 °C.
Note: The charger will not charge a battery if the cell
temperature is below approximately 10 °C or above 40 °C.
The battery should be left in the charger and the charger
will begin to charge automatically when the cell temperature
warms up or cools down.
u Plug the charger into an appropriate outlet before inserting
the battery pack.
u Insert the battery pack into the charger.
The green LED will ash indicating that the battery is being
charged.
The completion of charge is indicated by the green LED
remaining on continuously. The pack is fully charged and
may be used at this time or left in the charger
Warning! Recharge discharged batteries as soon as possible
after use or battery life may be greatly diminished.
Charger diagnostics
This charger is designed to detect certain problems that can
arise with the battery packs or the power source. Problems
are indicated by one LED ashing in different patterns.
Bad Battery

The charger can detect a weak or damaged battery. The
red LED ashes in the pattern indicated on the label. If you
see this bad battery blink pattern, do not continue to charge
the battery. Return it to a service centre or a collection site
for recycling
Hot/Cold Pack Delay
When the charger detects a battery that is excessively
hot or excessively cold, it automatically starts a Hot/Cold
Pack delay, suspending charging until the battery has
normalised. After this happens, the charger automatically
switches to the Pack Charging mode. This feature ensures
maximum battery life. The red LED ashes in the pattern
indicated on the label when the Hot/Cold pack delay is
detected.
Leaving the battery in the charger
The charger and battery pack can be left connected with the
LED glowing indenitely. The charger will keep the battery
pack fresh and fully charged.
Important charging notes
u Longest life and best performance can be obtained if
the battery pack is charged when the air temperature is
between 65°F and 75°F (18°- 24°C). DO NOT charge the
battery pack in an air temperature below +40°F (+4.5°C),
or above +105°F (+40.5°C). This is important and will
prevent serious damage to the battery pack .
u The charger and battery pack may become warm to touch
while charging. This is a normal condition, and does not
indicate a problem. To facilitate the cooling of the battery
pack after use, avoid placing the charger or battery pack
in a warm environment such as in a metal shed, or an
uninsulated trailer
u If the battery pack does not charge properly:
u Check current at receptacle by plugging in a lamp or
other appliance
uCheck to see if receptacle is connected to a light switch
which turns power off when you turn out the lights.
u Move charger and battery pack to a location where the
surrounding air temperature is approximately 65°F
- 75°F (18°- 24°C).
uIf charging problems persist, take the appliance, battery
pack and charger to your local service center.
u The battery pack should be recharged when it fails to
produce sufcient power on jobs which were easily done
previously. DO NOT CONTINUE to use under these
conditions. Follow the charging procedure. You may also
charge a partially used pack whenever you desire with no
adverse affect on the battery pack.
u Foreign materials of a conductive nature such as, but
not limited to, steel wool, aluminium foil, or any buildup
of metallic particles should be kept away from charger
cavities. Always unplug the charger from the power supply
when there is no battery pack in the cavity. Unplug charger
before attempting to clean.
u Do not freeze or immerse charger in water or any other liquid.
Warning! Shock hazard. Do not allow any liquid to get inside
charger. Never attempt to open the battery pack for any
reason.
If the plastic housing of the battery pack breaks or cracks,
return to a service center for recycling.
Installing and removing the battery pack from the
appliance
Warning! Make certain the lock-off button is not engaged to
prevent switch actuation before removing or installing battery.
To install battery pack
Insert battery (13) into appliance until an audible click is
heard (Figure B). Ensure battery pack is fully seated and fully
latched into position.
To remove battery pack
Depress the battery release button (14) as shown in Figure C
and pull battery pack out of appliance.
Assembly
Warning! Before assembly, make sure that the tool is
switched off and the battery has been removed.
Assembly tools required (not supplied):
Phillips Screwdriver.
Fitting the guard (Fig. D, E)
Warning! Remove the battery from the appliance before
attempting to attach the guard, edge guide or handle. Never
operate appliance without guard rmly in place. The guard
must always be on the appliance to protect the user.
u Remove the screw from the guard.
u Turn the trimmer upside down so that you are looking
down at the spool cap (15).
u Turn the guard (11) upside down and slide it fully onto the
motor housing (16). Make sure the tabs (17) on the guard
engage the ribs (18) on the motor housing as shown.
u Continue to slide the guard on until you hear it “snap” into
place. The locking tab (19) should snap into the housing
slot (20).
u Using a phillips screwdriver, insert the guard screw and
tighten securely as shown in Figure E to complete the
guard assembly.

u Once the guard is installed, remove the covering from the
line cut-off blade, located on the edge of the guard
Warning! Never use the tool unless the guard is properly
tted.
Attaching the auxiliary handle (Fig. F, G, H)
u To attach the handle, press in on the buttons (21) on both
sides of the upper housing as shown in Figure F.
u Position the handle as shown in Figure G (with the
BLACK+DECKER logo facing upward). Partially push the
handle on so it will hold the buttons in when you release
them with your hand.
u Push the handle completely onto the housing and position
it slightly until it “snaps” into place.
u To adjust the handle up or down, press in on the button
(22) and raise or lower the handle (Figure H).
u The handle should be adjusted so that your front arm is
straight when the trimmer is in the working position.
Height adjustment (Fig. I, J–J3)
Warning! Adjust the length of the trimmer to obtain proper
working positions shown in Figures J - J3.
u The overall height of the trimmer can be adjusted by
loosening the height-adjust collar (7) by rotating it in the
direction of the arrow shown in Figure I.
u Move the upper housing straight up or down. When the
desired height is achieved, tighten the collar by rotating it
opposite of the direction shown in Figure I.
Releasing the cutting line
In transit, the cutting line is taped to the spool housing.
u Remove the tape holding the cutting line to the spool
housing.
Operation
Warning! Always use proper eye protection.
Warning! Before you begin trimming, only use the appropriate
type of cutting line.
Note: Inspect area to be trimmed and remove any wire, cord,
or string-like objects which could become entangled in the
rotating line or spool. Be particularly careful to avoid any wire
which might be bent outwardly into the path of the appliance,
such as barbs at the base of a chain link fence.
Switching on and off
u To switch the appliance on, push the lock-off button (2),
and squeeze the trigger (1).
u To switch the appliance off, release the trigger.
Operating the trimmer (Fig. I, J–J3)
u With the unit on, angle unit and slowly swing the trimmer
side to side as shown in Figure J.
u Maintain a cutting angle of 5° to 10° as shown in
Figure J1. Do not exceed 10° (Figure J2). Cut with the tip
of the line. To keep distance from hard surfaces use edge
wheel (10).
u Maintain a minimum distance of 60 cm between the guard
and your feet as shown in Figure J3. To acheive this
distance adjust the overall height of the trimmer as shown
in Figure I.
POWERCOMMAND Button (Fig. K)
The POWERCOMMAND feature allows you to advance the
length of cutting line available while trimming.
u To extend the cutting line, fully depress the
POWERCOMMAND button (4) while trimming and then
release (gure K).
Note: The trimmer will stop cutting when the
POWERCOMMAND button is pressed and will resume cutting
when released.
u For maximum line length, press the button multiple times
until you hear the cutting line hitting the guard.
Note: Do not continue to press the POWERCOMMAND
button once the maximum length is reached. This will result in
overfeeding and will consume string quickly.
Convert to edging mode (Fig. L, M)
Warning! The wheeled edge guide should only be used when
in the edging mode.
The trimmer can be used in trimming mode or edging mode to
trim overhanging grass along lawn edges and ower beds. For
edging, the trimmer head should be in the position shown in
Figure M. If it is not:
uRemove the battery from the trimmer.
uGrasp the ip-to-edge collar (8) and push down as
shown in part 1 of Figure L.
uRotate the ip-to-edge collar 180° counterclockwise as
shown in part 2, until the handle snaps back into the
upper half of the trimmer.
uTo return to trimming position, pull the ip-to-edge collar
down and rotate the head clockwise back to its original
position.
Note: You will experience faster than normal cutting line wear
if the trimmer line is positioned directly over the sidewalk or
abrasive surface.
Edging (Fig. M)
Warning! When being used as an Edger, stones, pieces of
metal and other objects can be thrown out at high speed by
the line. The trimmer and guard are designed to reduce the
danger. However, MAKE SURE that other persons and pets
are at least 30 m away. Optimum cutting results are achieved
on edges deeper than 50 mm.

u Do not use this trimmer to create trenches.
u Using the edging wheel (10), guide the trimmer as shown
in Figure M.
u Position the edging wheel on the edge of the sidewalk or
abrasive surface so the cutting line is over the grass or dirt
area to be edged.
u To make a closer cut, slightly tilt the trimmer.
Speed control & runtime extension mode (Fig. N)
This string trimmer gives you the choice to operate at a
more efcient speed to extend the runtime for larger jobs, or
accelerate the trimmer speed for high-performance cutting
(Figure N).
u To extend runtime, pull the speed-control switch (5) back
toward the battery (13) into position #1. This mode is best
for larger projects that require more time to complete.
u To accelerate the trimmer, push the speed-control switch
forward toward the trimmer head (9) into position #2.
This mode is best to cut through heavier growth and for
applications that need higher RPM.
Note: When in acceleration mode (#2), runtime will be
decreased as compared to when trimmer is in extended
runtime mode (#1).
Helpful cutting tips
u Use the tip of the string to do the cutting; do not force
string head into uncut grass. Use edge guide along
such things as fences, houses and ower beds for best
practices.
u Wire and picket fences cause extra string wear, even
breakage. Stone and brick walls, curbs, and wood may
wear string rapidly.
u Do not allow spool cap to drag on ground or other
surfaces.
u In long growth cut from the top down and do not exceed
300 mm high.
u Keep trimmer tilted toward the area being cut; this is the
best cutting area.
u The trimmer cuts when passing the unit from the right to
left. This will avoid throwing debris at the operator.
u Avoid trees and shrubs. Tree bark, wood moldings, siding,
and fence posts can easily be damaged by the string.
Clearing jams and tangled line (Figures O, P, Q)
Warning! Remove the battery from the trimmer before
making any assembly, adjustments or changing accessories.
Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting
the appliance accidentally. From time to time, especially
when cutting thick or stalky weeds, the line feeding hub may
become clogged with sap or other material and the line will
become jammed as a result. To clear the jam, follow the steps
listed below.
u Remove the battery from the trimmer.
u Press the release tabs (23) on the line spool cap (24),
as shown in Figure O and remove the cap by pulling it
straight off.
u Pull the nylon line spool out and clear any broken line or
cutting debris from the spool area.
u Place spool and line into spool cap with line “parked” in
slots provided as shown in Figure P1.
u Insert the line end through the appropriate hole in the
spool housing. Pull slack line through until it pulls out of
the holding slots as shown in Figure P2.
u Press the spool down gently and rotate it until you feel it
drop into place and then push to snap into place. (When
in place, the spool will turn a few degrees left and right
freely).
u Take care to keep the line from becoming trapped under
the spool.
u Align the spool cap tabs with the slots on the spool
housing.
u Snap the spool cap back on as shown in Figure Q by
depressing lugs and pressing into spool housing.
Note: Make sure that cover is fully positioned, listen for two
audible clicks to ensure both lugs are correctly located. Power
the appliance on. In a few seconds or less you’ll hear the
nylon line being cut automatically to the proper length.
Warning! To avoid appliance damage, if the cutting line
protrudes beyond the trimming blade, cut it off so that it just
reaches the blade.
Note: Other replacement parts (guards, spool caps, etc.) are
available through BLACK+DECKER service centers. To nd
your local service location visit www.blackanddecker.com.
Warning! The use of any accessory not recommended by
BLACK+DECKER for use with this appliance could be
hazardous.
Replacing the spool (Fig. O, P, Q, R)
u Remove battery from appliance.
u Depress the tabs (23) and remove the spool cap (24) from
the spool housing (12) (Figure O).
u Grasp empty spool with one hand and spool housing with
other hand and pull spool out.
u If lever (25) or spring (26) in base of housing (Figure R)
becomes dislodged, replace in correct position before
inserting new spool into housing.
u Remove any dirt and grass from the spool and housing.
u Unfasten the end of the cutting line and guide the line into
the eyelet (P2) Figure P.
u Take the new spool and push it onto the boss (27)
(Figure R) in the housing. Rotate the spool slightly until it
is seated. The line should protrude approximately 136 mm
from the housing.

u Align the tabs on the spool cap with the slots in the
housing (Figure Q).
u Push the cap onto the housing until it snaps securely into
place.
Rewinding spool from bulk line (Fig. S, T, U)
Bulk line is also available for purchase from your local retailer.
Note: Hand wound spools from bulk line are likely to become
tangled more frequently than BLACK+DECKER factory
wound spools. For best results, factory wound spools are
recommended. To install bulk line, follow the steps below:
u Remove battery from appliance.
u Remove the empty spool from the appliance as described
in “Replacing the spool.”
u Remove any remaining cutting line from the spool.
u Make a fold at the end of the cutting line at about 19 mm
(28). Feed the cutting line into one of the line anchoring
slots (29) as shown in Figure S.
u Insert the 19 mm end of the bulk line into the hole (30) in
the spool adjacent to the slot as shown in Figure T. Make
sure the line is pulled tight against the spool as shown in
Figure T.
u Wind the cutting line onto the spool in the direction of the
arrow on the spool. Make sure to wind the line on neatly
and in layers. Do not crisscross (Figure U).
u When the wound cutting line reaches the recesses (31),
cut the line (Figure T).
u Fit the spool onto the appliance as described in “Replacing
the spool”.
Maintenance
Your BLACK+DECKER corded/cordless appliance/tool has
been designed to operate over a long period of time with a
minimum of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation
depends upon proper tool/appliance care and regular
cleaning.
Your charger does not require any maintenance apart from
regular cleaning.
Warning! Before performing any maintenance on corded/
cordless power tools:
u Switch off and unplug the appliance/tool.
u Or switch off and remove the battery from the appliance/
tool if the appliance/tool has a separate battery pack.
u Or run the battery down completely if it is integral and then
switch off.
u Unplug the charger before cleaning it. Your charger does
not require any maintenance apart from regular cleaning.
u Regularly clean the ventilation slots in your tool/appliance
and charger using a soft brush or dry cloth.
u Regularly clean the motor housing using a damp cloth. Do
not use any abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.
uRegularly clean the cutting line and spool using a soft
brush or dry cloth.
u Regularly use a blunt scraper to remove grass and dirt
from the underneath of the guard.
Troubleshooting
Problem Solution
Appliance runs slowly. Remove battery from trimmer.
Check that the spool housing can rotate freely.
Carefully clean it if necessary.
Check that the cutting line does not protrude
more than approximately 122 mm from the spool.
If it does, cut it off so that it just reaches the line
trimming blade
EASYFEEDTM does not
feed more line.
Keep the tabs depressed and remove the spool
from the spool housing in the trimmer head.
Ensure that the line is not crisscrossed on the
spool as detailed in Figure U. If it is, unwind the
cutting line, then wind it back on the spool neatly
so that the lines do not cross.
Inspect tracks at the bottom of spool for damage.
If damaged, replace spool.
Pull the cutting line until it protrudes approximately
122mm from the spool. If insufcient cutting line is
left on the spool, install a new spool of cutting line.
Align the tabs on the spool cap with the cut outs
in the housing.
Push the spool cap onto the housing until it snaps
securely into place.
If the cutting line protrudes beyond the trimming
blade, cut it off so that it just reaches the blade. If
the automatic line feed still does not work or the
spool is jammed, try the following suggestions:
Carefully clean the spool and housing.
Make sure you are using correct line size and
diameter 1.65 mm - smaller and larger line sizes
will affect the functionality of the auto feed system.
Remove the spool and check if the lever in the
spool housing can move freely.
Remove the spool and unwind the cutting line,
then wind it on neatly again. Replace the spool
into the housing.
Overfeeding Ensure you are cutting with the tip of the line
177 mm from the spool. Use the edge guide if
needed to ensure proper space is maintained.
Ensure you are not exceeding a 10º angle as
shown in (Fig. J1). Avoid contact of the line with
hard surfaces such as brick, concrete, wood etc.
This will prevent excessive wear and/or overfeed
of line. Cut with the tip of the line

Make sure to park the lines in holding slots (Figure
P) before removing.
Protecting the environment
Z Separate collection. Products and batteries
marked with this symbol must not be disposed of
with normal household waste.
Products and batteries contain materials that can be

Pemangkas rumput BLACK+DECKER STC1820EPCF Anda
telah dirancang untuk memotong rumput dan merapikan tepi
rumput, serta untuk memotong rumput di tempat sempit.
Peralatan ini hanya ditujukan untuk penggunaan non-profesional.

uJangan mengoperasikan peralatan ini di
lingkungan yang mudah menimbulkan
bahaya ledakan, seperti di tempat yang
terdapat cairan, gas, atau debu yang
mudah terbakar.
uPeralatan hanya digunakan dengan unit
catu daya yang disertakan bersama
peralatan.
Risiko-risiko lain.
Risiko-risiko lain dapat timbul saat
menggunakan alat, yang mungkin tidak
tercantum dalam peringatan keselamatan
yang disertakan.
Risiko-risiko ini dapat diakibatkan oleh
penyalahgunaan, penggunaan yang terlalu
lama, dsb.
Sekalipun peraturan keselamatan terkait
sudah diterapkan dan peralatan pengaman
sudah digunakan, risiko-risiko lain tertentu
tidak dapat dihindari. Ini meliputi:
uCedera yang diakibatkan karena
menyentuh komponen yang berputar/
bergerak.
uCedera yang terjadi saat mengganti
komponen, pemotong, atau aksesori.
uCedera yang diakibatkan karena
penggunaan alat untuk waktu lama.
Jika menggunakan alat apa pun untuk
waktu yang lama, pastikan Anda
mengistirahatkannya secara berkala.
uKerusakan indera pendengaran.
uBahaya kesehatan yang disebabkan
oleh menghirup debu yang ditimbulkan
oleh penggunaan alat (contoh:-
mengebor kayu, khususnya kayu oak,
beech, dan MDF.)
Setelah digunakan
uBila tidak digunakan, peralatan ini
harus disimpan di tempat yang kering,
berventilasi baik dan jauh dari jangkauan
anak-anak.
uJangan biarkan anak-anak mengakses
peralatan yang disimpan.
uKetika peralatan disimpan atau diangkut
dalam kendaraan, peralatan harus
ditempatkan di bagasi atau ditahan
untuk mencegah gerakan berikut
perubahan yang mendadak karena
kecepatan atau belokan.
Pemeriksaan dan perbaikan
uSebelum digunakan, periksa apakah ada
komponen peralatan yang rusak atau
cacat. Periksa kerusakan komponen
dan kondisi lain apa pun yang dapat
mempengaruhi operasi mesin.
uJangan gunakan peralatan ini jika ada
komponen yang rusak atau cacat.
uMinta agen perbaikan resmi untuk
memperbaiki atau mengganti bagian
yang rusak maupun cacat.
uJangan coba melepas atau mengganti
bagian apa pun selain yang ditentukan
dalam panduan ini.

Peringatan! Elemen pemotong akan terus
berputar setelah motor dimatikan.
uKenalilah semua tuas pengendali serta
cara penggunaan peralatan yang benar.
uSelalu lepas baterai dari peralatan saat
peralatan tidak digunakan, sebelum

membersihkan penyumbatan, sebelum
melakukan tindakan pembersihan dan
perawatan, setelah peralatan menabrak
benda asing, atau kapan pun peralatan
mulai bergetar secara tidak normal.
uGunakan sepatu yang tebal atau sepatu
boot untuk melindungi kaki Anda.
uGunakan celana panjang untuk
melindungi kaki Anda.
uSebelum menggunakan peralatan,
periksalah apakah jalur pemotongan
telah bersih dari batang kayu, bebatuan,
kabel, dan benda-benda lainnya.
uHanya gunakan peralatan dalam posisi
tegak, dengan benang pemotong di
dekat tanah. Jangan pernah menyalakan
peralatan dalam posisi lainnya.
uBerjalanlah pelan-pelan saat
menggunakan peralatan ini.
Waspadalah karena rumput yang baru
dipotong kondisinya basah dan licin.
uJangan bekerja di atas bidang dengan
kemiringan yang curam. Saat bekerja di
atas bidang miring, arah pemotongan
harus dibuat dari kiri ke kanan melintasi
permukaannya, jangan pernah dari atas
ke bawah.
uJangan melewati jalur atau jalan yang
berkerikil sementara peralatan Anda
sedang beroperasi.
uJangan pernah menyentuh benang
pemotong saat peralatan sedang
beroperasi.
uJangan pernah menaruh peralatan
hingga benang pemotong benar-benar
telah berhenti sepenuhnya.
uHanya gunakan jenis benang
pemotong yang tepat. Jangan pernah
menggunakan benang pemotong yang
terbuat dari logam atau benang pancing.
uBerhati-hatilah untuk tidak menyentuh
bilah pemotongan benang.
uJauhkanlah tangan dan kaki Anda dari
garus pemotong setiap saat, terutama
saat menyalakan motor.
uSebelum menggunakan peralatan dan
setelah dampak apa pun, periksalah
tanda keausan atau kerusakan, dan
perbaiki seperlunya.
uJangan pernah mengoperasikan
peralatan dengan pelindung yang rusak
atau tanpa pelindung yang terpasang.
uBerhati-hatilah agar terhindar dari
cedera akibat perangkat apa pun
yang dipasang untuk memangkas
panjang benang lamen. Setelah
menambahkan benang pemotong yang
baru, selalu kembalikan peralatan ke
posisi pengoperasian normal sebelum
menyalakannya.
uSelalu pastikan bahwa slot ventilasi
bebas dari debu.

Baterai
uJangan pernah membuka baterai untuk
alasan apa pun.
uJangan paparkan baterai pada air.
uJangan simpan di lokasi yang suhunya
melebihi 40 °C.
uLakukan pengisian daya hanya pada
suhu lingkungan antara 10 °C hingga
40 °C.
uIsi ulang daya hanya menggunakan
pengisi daya yang disertakan bersama
alat.
uSaat membuang baterai, ikuti
petunjuk yang diberikan dalam bagian
"Melindungi lingkungan".

disertakan untuk mengisi daya
baterai dalam alat. Baterai lain dapat
meledak, menyebabkan cedera diri dan
kerusakan.
uJangan pernah mengisi ulang daya
baterai yang tidak dapat diisi ulang.
uSegera ganti kabel yang rusak.
uJangan paparkan pengisi daya pada air.
uJangan membuka pengisi daya.
uJangan membongkar untuk memeriksa
bagian dalam pengisi daya.
$Pengisi daya ini hanya ditujukan
untuk penggunaan di dalam
ruangan.

Keselamatan kelistrikan
#
Pengisi daya ini berisolasi ganda;
oleh sebab itu tidak perlu kabel
arde (ground). Selalu periksa
apakah voltase listrik sudah sesuai
dengan tegangan yang tercantum
pada pelat spesikasi. Jangan
pernah mencoba untuk mengganti
unit pengisi daya dengan steker
listrik biasa.
u Jika rusak, kabel daya harus diganti
oleh produsen atau Pusat Servis

menghindari terjadinya bahaya.

Mengisi ulang baterai (gambar A)
Baterai perlu diisi ulang sebelum penggunaan pertama dan
setiap kali baterai tidak mampu menghasilkan daya yang
memadai untuk mengerjakan pekerjaan yang sebelumnya
mudah dilakukan.
Baterai akan menghangat pada saat diisi ulang; ini wajar dan
tidak menandakan adanya masalah.

Peringatan! Jangan isi daya baterai pada suhu sekitar di bawah
10°C atau di atas 40°C. Suhu pengisian daya yang disarankan:
sekitar 24 °C.
Catatan: Pengisi daya tidak akan mengisi ulang baterai jika
suhu sel di bawah kurang lebih 10 °C atau di atas 40 °C.
Baterai harus dibiarkan dalam pengisi daya, dan pengisi daya
akan mulai mengisi ulang daya secara otomatis bilamana suhu
sel menghangat atau mendingin.
u Sambungkan pengisi daya pada stop kontak yang sesuai
sebelum memasukkan baterai.
u Masukkan baterai ke dalam pengisi daya.
LED hijau akan berkedip yang menunjukkan bahwa baterai
sedang diisi dayanya.
LED hijau akan menyala terus menerus sebagai indikasi
bahwa pengisian daya sudah selesai. Kemasan sudah terisi
daya penuh dan dapat digunakan sekarang, atau dibiarkan
di dalam pengisi daya
Peringatan! Isi ulang baterai yang habis sesegera setelah
digunakan atau masa pakai baterai dapat sangat berkurang.
Diagnosis pengisi daya
Pengisi daya ini dirancang untuk mendeteksi masalah tertentu
yang dapat muncul pada baterai atau sumber listrik. Adanya
masalah ditunjukkan dengan satu LED yang berkedip dengan
pola yang berbeda.
Baterai Buruk
Pengisi daya dapat mendeteksi baterai yang lemah atau
rusak. LED merah berkelip dengan pola yang ditunjukkan
pada label. Apabila pola kedipan baterai yang buruk ini
terlihat, jangan lanjutkan pengisian daya baterai. Kembalikan
baterai ke pusat layanan atau tempat pengumpulan untuk
didaur ulang
Penundaan Kemasan Panas/Dingin
Ketika pengisi daya mendeteksi baterai terlalu panas atau
terlalu dingin, secara otomatis pengisi daya akan memulai
Penundaan Kemasan Panas/Dingin, yaitu menunda
pengisian daya sampai baterai normal kembali. Setelah hal
ini terjadi, secara otomatis pengisi daya beralih ke mode
Pengisian Daya Kemasan. Fitur ini memastikan masa pakai
baterai maksimum. LED merah berkedip dengan pola yang
ditunjukkan pada label saat penundaan kemasan Panas/
Dingin terdeteksi.
Meninggalkan baterai dalam pengisi daya
Pengisi daya dan baterai dapat dibiarkan terhubung dengan
lampu LED menyala tanpa batas waktu. Pengisi daya akan
menjaga baterai tetap dalam kondisi baik dan terisi penuh.
Catatan pengisian daya penting
u Masa pakai terlama dan kinerja terbaik bisa didapatkan
jika baterai diisi daya pada saat suhu udara sekitar 65°F
dan 75°F (18°- 24°C). JANGAN mengisi daya baterai
dalam suhu udara di bawah +40°F(+4,5°C), atau di
atas +105°F (+40,5°C). Ini penting dan akan mencegah
kerusakan parah pada baterai .
u Pengisi daya dan baterai bisa menjadi hangat saat
tersentuh ketika sedang mengisi daya. Kondisi ini
normal dan tidak menunjukkan adanya masalah. Untuk
memudahkan pendinginan baterai setelah digunakan,
jangan menempatkan pengisi daya atau baterai dalam
lingkungan yang hangat seperti di gudang logam, atau
trailer yang tidak berinsulasi
u Jika baterai tidak mengisi daya dengan benar:
u Periksa arus pada stopkontak dengan mencolokkan
lampu atau peralatan lainnya
uPeriksa apakah stopkontak terhubung ke sakelar lampu
yang mematikan daya saat Anda mematikan lampu.
u Pindahkan pengisi daya dan baterai ke lokasi dengan
suhu udara sekitar antara 65°F - 75°F (18°- 24°C).
uJika masalah pengisian daya masih berlanjut, bawalah
peralatan, kemasan baterai, dan pengisi daya ke pusat
servis setempat Anda.
u Baterai harus diisi ulang saat gagal menghasilkan daya
yang cukup pada pekerjaan yang mudah dilakukan
sebelumnya. JANGAN LANJUTKAN menggunakan
dengan kondisi-kondisi berikut. Ikuti prosedur pengisian
daya. Anda juga dapat mengisi daya baterai yang
digunakan sebagian kapan pun Anda mau dengan tanpa
efek samping pada baterai.
u Benda-benda asing bersifat penghantar listrik semacam
ini dapat berupa, namun tidak terbatas pada: serat baja,
kertas alumunium, atau tumpukan partikel-partikel logam,
yang semuanya harus dijauhkan dari rongga-rongga
pengisi daya. Selalu cabut pengisi daya dari catu daya
bilamana tidak ada baterai dalam rongga. Cabut pengisi
daya sebelum membersihkannya.
u Jangan membekukan atau membenamkan pengisi daya
dalam air atau cairan lain.
Peringatan! Bahaya sengatan listrik. Jaga agar tidak ada
cairan masuk ke dalam pengisi daya. Jangan pernah berusaha
membuka baterai untuk alasan apa pun.
Jika wadah plastik baterai rusak atau retak, kembalikan ke pusat
layanan untuk didaur ulang.
Memasang dan melepaskan kemasan baterai dari
peralatan
Peringatan! Pastikan tombol pengunci tidak diaktifkan untuk
mencegah aktuasi sakelar sebelum melepas atau memasang
baterai.

Untuk memasang baterai
Pasang baterai (13) ke peralatan hingga terdengar bunyi klik
(Gambar B). Pastikan baterai benar-benar terpasang dan
terkunci ke posisi.
Untuk melepas baterai
Tekan tombol pelepas baterai (14) seperti yang ditunjukkan pada
Gambar C dan tarik baterai dari peralatan.
Perakitan
Peringatan! Sebelum perakitan, pastikan alat telah dimatikan
dan baterai telah dilepas.
Diperlukan alat perakitan (tidak disertakan):
Obeng Phillips.
Memasang pengaman (Gbr. D,E)
Peringatan! Melepas baterai dari peralatan sebelum berupaya
memasang pelindung, panduan pinggiran, atau pegangan.
Jangan pernah mengoperasikan peralatan tanpa pelindung yang
terpasang kuat di tempatnya. Pelindung harus selalu berada di
peralatan guna melindungi pengguna.
u Lepas sekrup dari pelindung.
u Balikkan pemangkas rumput sehingga Anda dapat melihat
penutup kumparan benang (15).
u Balik pelindung (11) dan geser pelindung ke rangka motor
(16). Pastikan tab (17) pada pelindung mengaktifkan
bingkai (18) pada tempat motor seperti yang ditunjukkan.
u Lanjutkan untuk menggeser pelindung hingga terdengar
bunyi “klik” pada posisinya. Tab pengunci (19) harus
masuk ke slot wadah(20).
u Dengan menggunakan obeng phillips, pasang sekrup
pelindung dan kencangkan seperti yang ditunjukkan di
Gambar E untuk menyelesaikan perakitan pelindung.
u Setelah pelindung terpasang, lepaskan penutup dari bilah
benang bilah pemotong, yang ada di tepi pelindung
Peringatan! Jangan pernah penggunakan alat tanpa pelindung
yang telah terpasang dengan benar.
Memasang pegangan tambahan (Gbr. F, G, H)
u Untuk memasang pegangan, tekan tombol (21) di kedua
sisi rangka bagian atas seperti yang ditunjukkan di
Gambar F.
u Posisikan pegangan seperti yang ditunjukkan Gambar
G (dengan logo BLACK+DECKER yang menghadap ke
atas). Dorong sebagian pegangan, sehingga pegangan
akan menahan tombol saat Anda melepaskannya dengan
kedua tangan Anda.
u Dorong pegangan seluruhnya ke rangka dan posisikan
sedikit hingga terdengar suara “klik” pada posisinya.
u Untuk menyesuaikan pegangan ke atas atau ke bawah,
tekan tombol (22) dan angkat atau turunkan pegangan
(Gambar H).
u Pegangan harus disesuaikan, sehingga lengan depan
Anda lurus saat pemangkas rumput berada dalam posisi
kerja.
Penyesuaian ketinggian (Gbr. I, J-J3)
Peringatan! Penyesuaian panjang pemangkas rumput untuk
mendapatkan posisi kerja yang tepat ditunjukkan di Gambar
J – J3.
u Ketinggian pemangkas rumput secara keseluruhan dapat
disesuaikan dengan melonggarkan cincin penyesuai
tinggi (7) dengan memutar searah panah seperti yang
ditunjukkan di Gambar I.
u Pindahkan rangka bagian atas dengan posisi tegak lurus
atau melintang. Saat mencapai tinggi yang diinginkan,
kencangkan cincin dengan memutarnya berlawanan
dengan arah yang ditunjukkan di Gambar I.
Melepaskan benang pemotong
Saat transit, benang pemotong ditempelkan ke wadah kumparan
benang.
u Lepaskan isolasi penyangga benang pemotong ke wadah
kumparan benang.
Pengoperasian
Peringatan! Selalu gunakan pelindung mata yang tepat.
Peringatan! Sebelum Anda menggunakan pemotongan rumput,
harap hanya gunakan jenis benang pemotong yang tepat.
Catatan: Periksa area yang akan dipotong, apakah sudah
bersih dari kawat, kabel, atau benda seperti benang yang dapat
mengakibatkan terbelit dalam kumparan atau benang yang
berputar. Berhati-hatilah selalu untuk menghindari kawat yang
mungkin bengkok ke luar ke jalur alat ini, seperti mata kail di
dasar rangkaian rantai pada pagar.
Menyalakan dan mematikan
u Untuk menyalakan peralatan, tekan tombol pengunci (2),
dan tekan sakelar pemicu (1).
u Untuk mematikan peralatan, lepaskan sakelar pemicu.
Mengoperasikan pemangkas rumput (Gbr. I, J-J3)
u Dengan unit yang menyala, belokkan unit dan gerakkan
sisi pemangkas rumput ke samping seperti yang
ditunjukkan pada Gambar J.
u Pertahankan sudut pemotongan sebesar 5° hingga
10° seperti yang ditunjukkan pada Gambar J1. Jangan
melebihi 10° (Gambar J2). Potong dengan ujung benang.
Untuk menjaga jarak dari permukaan yang kasar, gunakan
ujung piringan (10).
u Pertahankan jarak minimum sejauh 60 cm antara
pelindung dan kaki Anda seperti yang ditunjukkan di
Gambar J3. Untuk mendapatkan jarak ini, sesuaikan tinggi
pemangkas rumput secara keseluruhan seperti yang
ditunjukkan di Gambar I.
Tombol POWERCOMMAND (Gbr. K)
Fitur POWERCOMMAND memungkinkan Anda untuk
memperpanjang benang pemotong yang tersedia saat
memotong rumput.
u Untuk menambah benang pemotong, tekan tombol
POWERCOMMAND sepenuhnya (4), saat memotong
rumput dan lepaskan (gambar K).
