Precautions
• Do not open or modify the sender or receiver modules. Changing the unit may damage it or cause it
to be dangerous.
• Do not open the modules or put any object inside them. Make sure that no metal objects or
ammable substances get inside the modules .
• Be careful when handling the unit. To prevent damage, do not drop the modules or submit it to a
strong shock or vibration.
• Install the both the transmitter and receiver modules away from electric and magnetic elds.
• Protect the repeater from humidity and dust.
• Do not install the transmitter or receiver module in a high temperature environment. This may cause
the internal temperature to rise to a damaging level.
Usage
WARNING
!The BLK-HDEXT is Class 1 laser product. Do not view laser light directly with optical instruments.
1. Route a ber optic cable (single- or multi-mode cable, not provided) with ST terminations between
the HD-SDI source equipment (camera, etc.) and the HD-SDI receiver equipment (HDcctv DVR, etc.).
CAUTION
Always handle and install ber optic cable in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Observe all connector cleaning procedures, and cable bend radius requirements.
2. Connect the sender module directly to the HD-SDI video source. For best performance, do not use an
extender cable or adapter between them.
3. Connect the receiver module directly to your HD-SDI receiver equipment, such as a DVR.

4. Remove the protective caps from the receiver module optical input and the ber cable ST connector.
Ensure that both connectors are clean. To clean the receiver module optical input connector, use
compressed air or isopropyl alcohol with a lint-free cloth. To clean the ber optic cable connectors,
always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
5. Connect the ber cable to the receiver module optical input.
6. Remove the protective caps from the sender module optical output and the ber cable ST connector.
Ensure that both connectors are clean. To clean the receiver module optical output connector, use

always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
7. Connect the ber cable to the sender module optical output.
8. Connect the sender module power connector to the 5 Vdc regulated power adapter provided to
power it on. Verify that the PWR LED is it.
9. Power on the HD-SDI video source equipment. Verify that the RUN LED on the sender module is lit.
10. Connect the receiver module power connector to the 5 Vdc regulated power adapter provided to
power it on. Verify that the PWR LED is it, and the RUN LED is lit.
11. Power on the receiving equipment. Verify that HD-SDI signal is being received clearly.
