become crimped, pinched, walked on, or become tangled with other

or detergents. For stubborn deposits, moisten the cloth with warm
water.
•This device has no user serviceable parts. Do not attempt to open,
service, or modify this device.
INTRODUCTION
This Blackbird™ 4K 1x2 HDMI® Splitter distributes a single 4K HDMI signal to two
HDMI displays. It supports video resolutions up to 4K@60Hz with YCbCr 4:4:4
color space and can independently scale each output from 4K to 1080p when
connected to a 1080p display. It fully complies with the HDMI 2.0 and HDCP™ 2.3
specifications and delivers up to 18Gbps bandwidth. It supports the Consumer
Electronics Control (CEC) HDMI feature, Dolby Vision™, and HDR10. It can copy
the EDID® data from the displays in the priority order Out 1 > Out 2. It has a built-
in signal equalizer, which allows for use of longer than normal cables. It has
upgradable firmware.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
1. Power: The LED illuminates red when power is applied.
2. Input: The LED illuminates blue when there is an active HDMI® signal on
the input.
3. In: HDMI port for connecting an HDMI video source device.
4. Downscaler On/Off: Slide switch for turning the video Downscaler on or
off.
5. FW/DC 5V: Micro USB port for powering the splitter using the included
AC power adapter. The port is also used for performing a firmware
update, in the event that one is made available.
6. Out 2: HDMI port for connecting an HDMI display. The LED to the left of
the port illuminates blue when there is a display connected.
7. Out 1: HDMI port for connecting an HDMI display. The LED to the left of
the port illuminates blue when there is a display connected.

VIDEO DOWNSCALING
The system supports automatic independent downscaling of the 4K input signal
for each output when connected to a 1080p display. The following table shows
the input and output resolutions, refresh rates, and color spaces.

FIRMWARE UPGRADE
Perform the following steps to upgrade the system firmware, in the event that
an upgrade is available.
1. Go to the www.monoprice.com website and type 36741 in the search
bar. Locate the Support Files section at the bottom of the page, then
download the firmware upgrade zip file.
2. Extract the .bin firmware upgrade file from the zip file.
3. Ensure the splitter is powered off and unplugged from its power source.
4. Plug one end of a Micro USB cable (available separately) into the FW/DC
5V port on the splitter, then plug the other end into an available USB
port on your computer.
5. Your computer will recognize a U-disk named BOOTDISK.
6. Double-click the BOOTDISK U-disk to display the files on the drive. There
should be a file named READY.TXT.
7. Copy the firmware upgrade .bin file to the BOOTDISK U-disk.
8. Double-click the BOOTDISK U-disk to display the files on the drive. The
READY.TXT file should have been replaced with a SUCCESS.TXT file. If
not, double-check the .bin filename and try again.
9. Unplug the Micro USB cable from the splitter and from your computer.
