underside of the device and on the skin of the lower abdomen. It is
important to have adequate gel without air bubbles between the probe and
the lower abdomen. Lie down in a comfortable position and apply probe
gently to bare skin of lower abdomen and move slowly with a rocking
motion to detect the foetal heartbeat. Adjust earphone volume level as
required.
5. You will hear the baby’s heartbeat sound very clearly from the earphone
when the probe is correctly positioned. The foetal heartbeat sounds like
galloping horse and is about twice the speed of the mother’s heart rate.
The placental blood flow sounds more like a whirlwind.
6. If the sound is not very clear, you can move the probe slowly until baby’s
heartbeat sound is clear enough.
7. After checking, turn off the power and then the LED on the probe will be off.
