General notes and safety precautions
Mounting and assembling instuctions
1. Draw the cartridge out from the bracket. Mount
it near to the raw water tap using the enclosed
screws and dowels. Ensure that the DS 450
mixed-bed ion exchanger is freely accessible
CAUTION: Before starting step 1, please make sure
that there are no electrical wires or water-carrying
pipes in the vicinity of the planned drilling holes.
2. After mounting the bracket, use slight pressure
to insert the cartridge with attached conductivity
meter in it.
3. Connect the raw water hose, free of kinks and
coils, to the water tap and to the R ¾” thread at
the bottom of the cartridge.
CAUTION: The straight connector of the raw
water hose contains the water restrictor and must
be connected to the water tap. The angled
connector is to be fitted to the R 3/4” thread of the
cartridge.
4. Fit the pure water hose to the hose nipple of the
conductivity meter.
CAUTION: Ensure that the pure water hose is
neither blocked in any way nor kinked, as the plastic
cartridge could then burst under the resulting build-
up of pressure.
5. Connect the power plug to the appropriate
socket with earth contact: 115V/230V, 50/60 Hz.
6. Carefully open the water tap and watch for any
leaks. Should there be leakage at the union nut
of the conductivity meter or at the hose
connections, turn the water tap off and tighten
the union nut or hose connections by hand until
the water leak is stopped.
7. The system is now ready to produce
demineralized water. Keep a watch on the
conductivity meter, as effluent water is first to be
taken for use when the pointer of the
conductivity meter is in the green section or at a
maximum of 20 µS/cm.
oRead these notes and precautions for your own well-being and proper functioning of the
cartridge!
oThe deionized water that is produced is not fit for drinking.
oUse only the original raw water hose, as the flow restrictor integrated in it prevents
damage to the cartridge.
oNever insert a shut-off device in the cartridge outlet nor kink the outlet hose, as the
plastic cartridge could burst under the resulting pressure build up. Ensure free water
flow at all times.
oThe use of this system in any other way than that described in these operating instructions
invalidates the guarantee.
oAn earthing contact socket outlet is required for the electrical connection.
oUnder some circumstances, improper handling could result in the leakage of ion
exchange resin from an ion exchange cartridge. CAUTION: Danger of slipping on leaked
out resin! As the resin material can cause slight irritation on contact with skin and/or
eyes, immediately turn off the raw water tap to stop further leakage and proceed as
follows: on skin contact, immediately wash contacted skin areas with plenty of water. On
contact with eyes, remove contact lenses if this is possible without difficulty, then
immediately and carefully wash eyes with plenty of water for about 10 minutes. When
irritation still occurs, seek medical advice immediately.
oWear protective gloves to collect up the leaked out resin, fill it into a clearly labelled
plastic container and return it to the authorized specialist supplier for waste disposal.
