User’s Guide

System Requirements
Bon Smart Capture card operates on most PC systems, but these are our recommendation for proper
capture and play.
OS : Windows 7, 8
CP : Intel i7, i5 or their compatible CP
RAM : 4GB
HDD Speed : 250MB/s
Installing Capture Card
Install the capture card on any of your PCI Express slot between 1x and 16x lanes. We recommend you
to install it on a PCI-Express 1x slot because it just needs 1x speed.
User needs to verify if the version of PCI-Express port is 2.0 when the card is not working, although it
is inserted into the slot well.
Installing Driver and Software

The software for Smart Capture card is downloadable from www.bon-electronics.com or www.bon.co.kr.
After downloading it, run setup.exe.
Follow the instructions to complete installation process. Reboot the PC after installation.
Connection of Video Cable
Connect a video input cable from your input device such as camera, video game machine, video player
or another PC.
irst Run of the Software
Please check and configure all settings before starting capture. First, you need to check the video
format from the input device to make capture card recognize it. Press 'Auto' button if you do not know
which video format comes in.
Press Capture tab to check the input screen is displayed correctly.
* Connect the cable to a monitor directly and see if it is displayed when the signal cannot be
recognized in spite of correct settings.
* Please note 1080/60p format is automatically changed to 1080/60i, although it can be recognized by
the capture card.

Recording Settings
To record the input video in the HDD on your PC, these settings should be configured first.
ORMAT
This is the file format of the video. MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, etc. can be selected.
VIDEO CODEC
This is the Video CODEC to be encoded with. H.264, H.263, MPEG2, MPEG4, etc. can be selected.
AUDIO CODEC
This is the Audio CODEC to be encoded with. AAC, MP3, ADPCM, MP2, Vorbis, etc. can be selected.
RESOLUTION / BITRATE
Sets the resolution and bitrate. If higher resolution and bitrate is selected, the quality of video may be
improved but its size may be increased.
MAX Record Time
Limits the maximum recording time.
Split ile Size
This automatically splits file by multiple number as the specified time elapsed.
Capture ile Path
This sets the file path to save in.

Streaming Settings
To stream out the pictures to internet, streaming settings should be configured.
ORMAT
This is the file format of the video. MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, etc. can be selected.
VIDEO CODEC
This is the Video CODEC to be encoded with. H.264, H.263, MPEG2, MPEG4, etc. can be selected.
AUDIO CODEC
This is the Audio CODEC to be encoded with. AAC, MP3, ADPCM, MP2, Vorbis, etc. can be selected.

Streaming URL
Sets the URL to stream video out.

Play Setting
Sets the path to load captured video. This path is used on Play tab to list the video files.

Capturing Input Video
To capture the video, move onto Capture tab.
Type your file name on the bottom right.
Press REC/PAUSE button on the bottom left.
To stop the capturing, press Stop button.
Schedule Capturing
Press Schedule button and set the time to start and stop recording.
The schedule time may be appear on the right of the file name.

Streaming & Recording
You may capture the video while stream it out. This process is simple.
Check on Streaming on the bottom right to stream the video out.
Press REC button to record the video.
Timeshift
Smart capture provides shifting back and forth of live video.
Press Time Shift button to start shifting.
After Time Shift button turned on, you can move back and forth from previous time lines by pressing
arrow buttons or the slide above the buttons. Each button moves the time line in 10 seconds interval.
Note that recording button is disabled while Time Shift is on.
Capturing an Image
If you want to capture an image, just press 'Image' button on bottom right.
The saved image is BMP format and its path is same as the capture file path.


PLAYING VIDEO ILES
To play video files, add video files on Play tab.
Adding/Removing Video iles
You can add/remove video files on play tab.
To add files, press '+' button.
To remove files, press 'Del' key on the keyboard.
To load files from different folder, change the folder on Settings / Play tab.
It is recommended to limits the number of video files less than 100 due to performance issue.
Playing Video
While playing the video, you can adjust video time line with buttons such as arrow buttons, Rewind, FF,
Play/Pause buttons and the slider.
The Repeat check box on the bottom right enables repeat of the current video.
The slider displays progress of the play.
By double clicking a video file, you can see the first still picture of the video.
Check the Single Play check box to play just one file. The software will play all video files by default.
The 'Star' button sets favorite video files. (To list favorite files only, check on the Star-shaped check box)

CHECKING STREAMING PROCESS
When you stream out your video, you may want to check if it's going out correctly.
To check its correctness, open Windows Media Player.
Select Open URL on the file menu.
Type in the address specified as Streaming URL you set on the capture software settings.
(For example, if it sets as http://localhost:8080, type the real address of it such as
http://192.168.200.153:8080)
If you do not know how to see your IP address, please check the usage of 'ipconfig' on Windows help.
In case of UDP Streaming
Run VLC media player. (a free player downloadable through the internet)
Open network stream on Media menu.
If you set the streaming URL as 'udp://192.168.200.255:8080' for example, type in 'udp://@:8080'.
Press 'Play'.
In a UDP streaming, the last digits '255' stands for broadcast address. If it is '255', the video can be
stream out to all hosts. If you want to stream it to a specific PC, type the exact address of the PC on the
Capture Software settings.
In case of RTMP Streaming
The address that has to be typed in as 'rtmp://...' format on the Capture Software settings.
The player such as OSMF and JW Player should be used instead of VLC.
