Attaching GCC30-4
Use a commercially available two-part adhesive (not supplied) for attachment of
the GCC30-4 to a power tool or industrial asset. Observe all processing instruc-
tions from the adhesive manufacturer. The use of other adhesives may be ade-
quate depending on the application and environment. Choosing the right adhesive
composition will create a long lasting bond between the GC30-4 and the tool.
Prepare the bonding surface in accordance with the instructions from the
manufacturer of the two-part adhesive. If the power tool is not properly cleaned
before bonding, the material properties could change, potentially leading to dam-
age.
It must be ensured that attaching the GCC30-4 does not limit the proper and
safe use of the power tool at any time. Attaching a GCC30-4 at the following
locations is prohibited (see figure J):
– Protective guards,
– Ventilation openings,
– Components that are actively operated (e.g. switches, controllers, inlets, etc.)
– Moving or rotating components,
– Labels/nameplates,
– Operating panels and grip surfaces,
– Soft grip surfaces,
– Surfaces in the direct vicinity of sparks,
– Surfaces that are exposed to strong mechanical or thermal effects,
– Surfaces that ensure that the power tool is positioned safely,
– Surfaces that could be damaged by adhesive components.

15
The following locations are suitable for attaching a GCC30-4 (see figure K):
– Surfaces where attaching the GCC30-4 does not prevent or complicate the
operation of the power tool,
– Surfaces that will not be exposed in the event that the power tool falls over,
– Surfaces with the minimum possible curvature.
Removing the GCC30-4
Do not use any sharp or pointed tools, which may cause damage to GCC30-4 or
the surface of the power tool it is attached to.
If you have to use chemicals to thin the adhesive, make sure the chemicals (e.g.
thinners) do not damage the plastic surface of a power tool or GCC30-4.
Attaching the GCC30-4 to a power cord
To reduce the risk of electric shock always disconnect
power cord from the power outlet before attaching or
removing GCA30-9 retaining clip.
You can attach the GCC30-4 module to a power cord using the GCA30–9 retain-
ing clip.
- Remove the liner to expose adhesive tape on the back of GCA30-9 (Fig. L).
- Attach GCC30-4 to the adhesive back of the retaining clip GCA30-9 (Fig. M).

- To reduce the risk of damage to the GCC30-4 we highly recommend placing the
clip as close on the cord as possible to either the power plug or the power tool
(Fig. N). Insert the power cord into the GCA30-9 housing (Fig. O). Note that
the maximum thickness of the cord that fits in retaining clip is 3/8” (9.5mm).
- Snap the back of the retaining clip into the clip housing. Make sure both lock
tabs click in place (Fig. P).
To remove the retaining clip from the cord, use a flathead screwdriver to push the
lock tabs in and lift the back of the clip (with GCC30-4 attached). Make sure the
screwdriver tip is at least 9/32” (7mm) wide (Fig. Q).

18
Operation
Note: First, complete the tutorial for the app/web-based application. This will pro-
vide you with a better overview of the procedure for creating the inventory and
using the software.
Once the battery 4 has been inserted or put into use, the GCC30-4 will send out a
continuous signal. The Bluetooth® signal will only stop if the battery is drained or
faulty or if it is removed.
You can find further information directly in the app/web-based application from
Bosch.
Data Transmission via Bluetooth®
The transmission interval of the GCC30-4 is eight seconds. Depending on am-
bient conditions, up to three transmission intervals may be required before the
GCC30-4 is detected. If the GCC30-4 is not detected, check the following:
– Is the battery too low or drained?
▷ Change the battery.
– Is the distance to the mobile terminal device too great?
▷ Reduce the distance between the mobile terminal device and the GCC30-4.
Note: During initial set-up, GCC30-4 modules that are already assigned to a power
tool are not displayed or cannot be connected.
