Safety Notes
General Power Tool Safety Warnings
Read all safety warnings and all in-
structions.Failure tofollow the warnings
and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or seri-
ous injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-
operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless)
power tool.
Work area safety
Keepworkareacleanandwelllit.Clutteredor darkareas
invite accidents.
Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres,
such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or
dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust
or fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating a
power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Electrical safety
Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify
the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with
earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and
matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
Avoidbodycontactwithearthedorgroundedsurfaces,
such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators.
There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is
earthed or grounded.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
Waterenteringapowertoolwillincreasetheriskofelectric
shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying,
pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away
from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Damaged
or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
When operating a power tool outdoors, use an exten-
sion cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable
for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoid-
able, use a residual current device (RCD) protected
supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
Personal safety
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common
sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power
toolwhileyou are tired or undertheinfluence of drugs,
alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while op-
erating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye
protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask,
non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection
used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal inju-
ries.
Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in
the off-position before connecting to power source
and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.
Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or en-
ergising power tools that have the switch on invites acci-
dents.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning
the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a ro-
tating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at
all times. This enables better control of the power tool in
unexpected situations.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewel-
lery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from
movingparts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be
caught in moving parts.
If devices are provided for the connection of dust ex-
traction and collection facilities, ensure these are con-
nected and properly used. Use of dust collection can re-
duce dust-related hazards.
Power tool use and care
Donotforce the power tool. Use the correctpower tool
for your application. The correct power tool will do the
job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it
on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with
the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the
battery pack from the power tool before making any
adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power
tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of
starting the power tool accidentally.
Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and
do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or
these instructions to operate the power tool. Power
tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or bind-
ing of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other
condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If
damaged, have the power tool repaired before use.
Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power
tools.
Keepcuttingtools sharp and clean. Properly maintained
cuttingtoolswith sharpcuttingedges are less likelytobind
and are easier to control.
Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in ac-
cordance with these instructions, taking into account
the working conditions and the work to be performed.
Use of the power tool for operations different from those
intended could result in a hazardous situation.
Service
Haveyourpowertoolserviced by aqualifiedrepairper-
son using only identical replacement parts. This will en-
sure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
Safety Warningsfor Concrete Grinders
Safety Warnings Common for Grinding
This power tool is intended to function as a grinder.
Readallsafetywarnings,instructions,illustrationsand
specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to
follow all instructions listed below may result in electric
shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Operations such as sanding, wire brushing, polishing
or cutting-off are not recommended to be performed
with this power tool. Operations for which the power tool
was not designed may create a hazard and cause personal
injury.
Do not use accessories which are not specifically de-
signed and recommended by the tool manufacturer.
Just because the accessory can be attached to your power
tool, it does not assure safe operation.
Theratedspeedoftheaccessorymustbeat leastequal
to the maximum speed marked on the power tool. Ac-
cessories running faster than their rated speed can break
and fly apart.
The outside diameter and the thickness of your acces-
sory must be within the capacity rating of your power
tool. Incorrectly sized accessories cannot be adequately
guarded or controlled.
Threaded mounting of accessories must match the
grinder spindle thread. For accessories mounted by
flanges, the arbour hole of the accessory must fit the
locating diameter of the flange. Accessories that do not
matchthemountinghardwareof thepowertool willrunout
of balance, vibrate excessively and may cause loss of con-
trol.
Do not use a damaged accessory. Before each use in-
spect the accessory such as abrasive wheels for chips
and cracks, backing pad for cracks, tear or excess
wear, wire brush for loose or cracked wires. If power
tool or accessory is dropped, inspect for damage or in-
stall an undamaged accessory. After inspecting and in-
stallinganaccessory, positionyourselfand bystanders
away from the plane of the rotating accessory and run
the power tool at maximum no-load speed for one min-
ute.Damaged accessorieswill normallybreakapartduring
this test time.
Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on
application, use face shield, safety goggles or safety
glasses. As appropriate, wear dust mask, hearing pro-
tectors, gloves and shop apron capable of stopping
small abrasive or workpiece fragments. The eye protec-
tion must be capable of stopping flying debris generated
byvariousoperations.Thedustmaskorrespiratormust be
capable of filtrating particles generatedbyyour operation.
Prolonged exposure to high intensity noise may cause
hearing loss.
Keep bystanders a safe distance away from work area.
Anyone entering the work area must wear personal
protective equipment. Fragments of workpiece or of a
broken accessory may fly away and cause injury beyond
immediate area of operation.
Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces on-
ly, when performing an operation where the cutting ac-
cessorymaycontacthiddenwiring or its owncord. Cut-
ting accessory contacting a “live” wire may make exposed
metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the op-
erator an electric shock.
Position the cord clear of thespinning accessory.Ifyou
losecontrol, the cordmaybecutor snaggedandyourhand
or arm may be pulled into the spinning wheel.
Never lay the power tool down until the accessory has
come to a complete stop. The spinning wheel may grab
the surface and pull the power tool out of your control.
Do not run the power tool while carrying it at yourside.
Accidental contact with the spinning accessory could snag
your clothing, pulling the accessory into yourbody.
Regularly clean the power tool’s air vents. The motor’s
fan will draw the dust inside the housing and excessive ac-
cumulation of powdered metal may cause electrical haz-
ards.
Do not operate the power tool near flammable materi-
als. Sparks could ignite these materials.
Do not use accessories that require liquid coolants. Us-
ing water or other liquid coolants may result in electrocu-
tion or shock.
Kickback and related warnings
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged ro-
tating wheel, backing pad, brush or any other accessory.
Pinching or snagging causes rapid stalling of the rotating
accessory which in turn causes the uncontrolled power
tool to be forced in the direction opposite of the accesso-
ry’s rotation at the point of the binding.
For example, if an abrasive wheel is snagged or pinched by
the workpiece, the edge of the wheel that is entering into
the pinch point can dig into thesurface of the materialcaus-
ing the wheel to climb out or kick out. The wheel may either
jump toward or away from the operator, depending on di-
rection of the wheel’s movement at the point of pinching.
Abrasive wheels may also break under these conditions.

Kickback is the result of power tool misuse and/or incor-
rect operating procedures or conditions and can be avoid-
ed by taking proper precautions as given below.
Maintainafirmgriponthepowertoolandpositionyour
body and arm to allow you to resist kickback forces. Al-
ways use auxiliary handle, if provided, for maximum
control over kickback or torque reaction during
start-up. The operator can control torque reactions or
kickback forces, if proper precautions are taken.
Never place your hand near the rotating accessory. Ac-
cessory may kickback over your hand.
Do not position your body in the area where power tool
will move if kickback occurs. Kickback will propel the
tool in direction opposite to the wheel’s movement at the
point of snagging.
Use special care when working corners, sharp edges,
etc. Avoid bouncing and snagging the accessory. Cor-
ners,sharpedgesorbouncinghaveatendencytosnag the
rotating accessory and cause loss of control or kickback.
Do not attach a saw chain woodcarving blade or
toothedsawblade.Suchbladescreatefrequentkickback
and loss of control.
Additional safety instructions for grinding
Use only wheel types that are recommended for your
power tool and the specific guard designed for the se-
lectedwheel. Wheels for which the power toolwas not de-
signed cannot be adequately guarded and are unsafe.
The grinding surface of the centre depressed wheels
must be mounted below the plane of the guard lip. An
improperlymountedwheel thatprojects through the plane
of the guard lip cannot be adequately protected.
The guard must be securely attached to the power tool
and positioned for maximum safety, so the least
amount of wheel is exposed towards the operator. The
guard helps to protect operator from broken wheel frag-
ments, accidental contact with wheel and sparks that
could ignite clothing.
Wheels must be used only for recommended applica-
tions. For example: do not grind with the side of the
cut-off wheel. Abrasive cut-off wheels are intendedfor
peripheral grinding; side forces applied to these wheels
may cause them to shatter.
Always use undamaged wheel flanges that are of cor-
rect size and shape for your selected wheel. Proper
wheel flanges support the wheel thus reducing the possi-
bility of wheel breakage. Flanges for cut-off wheels may be
different from grinding wheel flanges.
Do not use worn down reinforced wheels from larger
power tools. Wheels intended for larger power tools are
not suitable for the higher speed of a smaller tool and may
burst.
Additional safety warnings
Wear safety goggles.
Use suitable detectors to determine if utility lines are
hiddenintheworkareaorcallthelocalutilitycompany
for assistance. Contact with electric lines can lead to fire
and electric shock. Damaging a gas line can lead to explo-
sion. Penetrating a water line causes property damage or
may cause an electric shock.
Release the On/Off switch and set it to the off position
when the power supply is interrupted, e. g., in case of a
power failure or when the mains plug is pulled. Thispre-
vents uncontrolled restarting.
When working stone, use dust extraction. The vacuum
cleaner must be approved for the extraction of stone
dust. Using this equipment reduces dust-related hazards.
Do not touch grinding and cutting discs before they
have cooled down. The discs can become very hot while
working.
When working with the machine, always hold it firmly
with both hands and provide for a secure stance. The
power tool is guided more secure with both hands.
Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with clamp-
ing devices or in a vice is held more secure than by hand.
Keep your workplace clean. Blends of materials are par-
ticularly dangerous. Dust from lightalloys can burn or ex-
plode.
Products sold in GB only: Your product is fitted with an
BS 1363/A approved electric plug with internal fuse (ASTA
approved to BS 1362).
If the plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it should be
cut off and an appropriate plug fitted in its place by an author-
ised customer service agent. The replacement plug should
have the same fuse rating as the original plug.
The severed plug must be disposed of to avoid a possible
shock hazard and should never be inserted into a mains sock-
et elsewhere.
ProductssoldinAUSandNZonly: Use a residual current de-
vice (RCD) with a rated residual current of 30 mA or less.
Safety Warnings for Diamond Cup Wheels
Workonlywiththefittingextractionhoodofthepower
tool being used, connected to a suitable vacuum clean-
er.
Select a diamond cup wheel suitable for the material to
be worked. Observe the material information on the
packaging.
Beforeassembling,cleanthe clamping set, spindleand
diamond cup wheel.
Observethedimensionsofthediamond cupwheel.The
mounting hole diameter must fit the mounting flange.
Do not use reducers or adapters. The mounting hole of
the diamond cup wheel may not be enlarged.
The allowable maximum speed of the diamond cup
wheelmustcorrespondwiththemaximumspeedofthe
power tool.
To prevent damage, dismount diamond cup wheels be-
fore transporting the power tool.

Inorderto achievemaximalworkingresults, applyonly
low pressure when grinding; do not wedge, jam, jolt,
jerk or plunge.
Diamond cup wheels can heat up considerably while
working; do not touch them before they have cooled
down.
Do not place the power tool down until after the dia-
mond cup wheel has come to a complete stop.
Usethetwo-pinspanner 3 607 950 017 to release and
tighten the clamping nut.

Intended Use
The machine is intended for dry grinding, deburring and
smoothingmainlymineralmaterials (such asconcrete,stone,
marble and pavement/plaster flooring). It is also suitable for
removing protective coating and adhesive residue. The ma-
chine may be used exclusively in conjunction with a diamond
cup wheel and a vacuum cleaner of dust category M.

Noise/Vibration Information
The vibration level given in this information sheet has been
measured in accordance with a standardised test given in
EN 60745 and may be used to compare one tool with anoth-
er. It may be used for a preliminary assessment of exposure.
The declared vibration emission level represents the main ap-
plications of the tool. However if the tool is used for different
applications,withdifferentaccessoriesorinsertion tools oris
poorly maintained, the vibration emission may differ. This
may significantly increase the exposure level over the total
working period.
Anestimationofthelevel of exposure tovibration should also
take into account the times when the tool is switched off or
when it is running but not actually doing the job. This may sig-
nificantly reduce the exposure level over the total working
period.
Identify additional safety measures to protect the operator
fromtheeffectsofvibration suchas:maintainthe tool andthe
accessories, keep the hands warm, organisation of work pat-
terns.

Assembly
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
Inserting/Replacing Diamond Cup Wheels
(see figure A)
Approved Grinding Tools
Alldiamondcupwheels mentionedin theseoperatinginstruc-
tions can be used.
Observe the dimensions of the diamond cupwheels. The
mounting hole diameter must fit the mounting flange without
play.Themounting hole ofthediamondcupwheel maynot be
increased. Donot use reducers or adapters.
The permissible speed [rpm] or the circumferential speed
[m/s] of the diamond cup wheels used must at least match
the values given in the table.
Therefore, observe the permissible rotational/circumferen-
tial speed on the label of the diamond cup wheel.
Inserting Diamond Cup Wheels
Select a suitable diamond cup wheel for the material to be
worked. Please also observe the material information on the
packaging of the diamondcup wheel.
Clean the grinder spindle 13 and all parts to be mounted.
Place the mounting flange 14 on the grinder spindle 13 so

A plastic part (O-ring) is fitted around
the centring collar of mounting flange
14. If the O-ring is missing or dam-
aged, the mounting flange 14 must be
replaced before resuming operation.
Place the diamond cup wheel 15 on the mounting flange 14.
Pay attention that the direction-of-rotation arrow on the dia-
mond cup wheel agrees with the direction-of-rotation arrow
on the guard and extraction hood 3.
Press the spindle lock button 9to lock the grinding spindle.
Screw on the clamping nut 16 and tighten it with the two-pin
spanner 18.
Payattentionthatthecollaroftheclampingnut16faces away
from the machine, asshown in the figure.
After mounting the diamond cup wheel and before
switching on, check that the diamond cup wheel
is correctly mounted and that it can turn freely.
Make sure that the diamond cup wheel does not graze
against the guard and extraction hood or other parts.
Changing a Diamond Cup Wheel
When transporting the machine, the diamond cup wheel 15
should be removed to avoid damage to it.
Do not touch diamond cup wheels before they have
cooled. Diamond cup wheels become very hot while work-
ing.
Press the spindle lock button 9to lock the grinding spindle.
Actuate the spindle lock button only when the grinder
spindle is at a standstill. Otherwise, the machine may be-
come damaged.
Loosen the clamping nut 16 with the two-pin spanner 18 and
unscrew the clamping nut. Remove the diamond cup wheel 15.
Quick-clamping Nut
For convenient changing of grinding tools without the use of
additional tools, you can use the quick-clamping nut 17 in-
stead of the clamping nut 16.
Useonlyaflawless,undamagedquick-clampingnut17.
When screwing on, pay attention that the side of the
quick-clamping nut 17 with printing does not face the
diamondcuttingdisc; thearrowmustpointtothe index
mark 19.

Dust Extraction
Dusts from materials such as lead-containing coatings,
some wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to
one’s health. Touching or breathing-in the dusts can cause
allergic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of
the user or bystanders.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are considered
as carcinogenic, especially in connection with wood-treat-
ment additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials
containing asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– To achieve a high degree of dust extraction, use the
GAS 50 MS vacuum cleaner for mineral dust together
with this power tool.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the
materials to be worked.
The vacuum cleaner must be approved for the extraction of
masonry dust. Bosch provides suitable vacuum cleaners.
Insertavacuumhose10(accessory) intothe vacuumconnec-
tion 8. Connect the vacuum hose 10 to a vacuum cleaner(ac-
cessory). Anoverviewforconnectingtoavacuumcleaner can
be found at the end of these instructions.
Notes for the Use of Concrete Grinders
Pleaseobservethefollowing notesinordertoreducethedust
emissions occurring while working.
– Only use combinations of diamond cutting discs, concrete
grinders with mounted guard and extraction hood as well
as dust category M vacuum cleaners that are recommend-
ed by Bosch. Other combinations can lead to insufficient
dust collection and separation.
– Observe the operating instructions of the vacuum cleaner
for maintenance and cleaning of the vacuum cleaner, in-
cluding the filter. Empty dust collection containers imme-
diately once full. Clean the filters of the vacuum cleaner
regularly and always insert the filters completely into the
vacuum cleaner.
– Only use vacuum hoses as intended for by Bosch. Do not
manipulate the vacuum hose. When rocks or chunks of
stone/masonry are drawn into the vacuum hose, cease
work and clean the vacuum hose immediately. Prevent the
vacuum hose from being bent or creased.
– Use the concrete grinder only as intended for.
– Observe the general requirements for construction sites.
– Provide for good ventilation.
– Ensure that the work area is free of obstructions. For long-
er grinding jobs, the vacuum cleaner must be able to move
along freely and at the right time.
– Wear hearing protection, protective goggles, dust mask
and gloves as required.As dust mask, use at leasta parti-
cle-filtering class FFP 2 half-mask.
– Use a suitable vacuum cleaner for cleaning the workplace.
Prevent settled dust from being swirled up by sweeping.

Operation
Starting Operation
Observe correct mains voltage! The voltage ofthe pow-
er source must agree with the voltage specified on the
nameplate of the machine. Power tools marked with
230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
Switching On and Off
To start the power tool, push the On/Off switch 1forwards.
To lock the On/Off switch 1, press the On/Off switch 1down
at the front until it latches.
To switch off the power tool, release the On/Off switch 1or,
if it is locked, briefly push down the back of the On/Offswitch
1and then release it.
Check grinding tools before using. The grinding tool
must be mounted properly and be able to move freely.
Carry out a test run for at least one minute with no load.
Do not use damaged, out-of-centre orvibrating grinding
tools. Damaged grinding tools can burst and cause injuries.
To save energy, only switch the power tool on when using it.
Restarting Protection
The restarting protection feature prevents uncontrolled re-
starting of the machine after an interruption in the power sup-
ply.
To restart the operation, switch the On/Off switch 1to the
Off position and start the machine again.
Note: Check the function of the restarting protection feature
regularly by having the mains plug pulled during operation
and plugged in again afterwards.
Reduced starting current
The electronic reduced starting current limits the power con-
sumption when switching the tool on and enables operation
from a 13 ampere fuse.
Constant Electronic Control
Constant electronic control holds the speedconstantat no-
load and under load, and ensures uniform working perfor-
mance.
Overload Protection
Whenoverloaded, the motor comes to astop.Relievetheload
on the machine immediately and allow to cool down for ap-
prox. 30 seconds at the highest no-load speed.
Grinding close to the edge (GBR 15 CAG) (see figure B)
For grinding close to the edge, slide the locking device 7for-
wards () and swing the movable part of the guard 6side-
ways (). Lock the locking device 7().
Working Advice
Clamp the workpiece if it does not remain stationary
due to its own weight.
Do not strain the machine so heavily that it comes to a
standstill.
Do not touch diamond cup wheels before they have
cooled. Diamond cup wheels become very hot while work-
ing.
Applythepowertooltotheworkpieceonlywhenswitchedon.
Move the machine with a circular motion or alternately in
length and crosswise direction over the workpiece/surface
applying moderate pressure. For removal of coatings, the ma-
chinecanalso be guidedatasmall angle to the workpiece sur-
face without a reduction of the dust extraction capacity.
Maintenance and Service
Maintenance and Cleaning
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
For safe and proper working, always keep the machine
and ventilation slots clean.
In extreme conditions, always use dust extraction as
far as possible. Blow out ventilation slots frequently
and install a residual current device (RCD). When work-
ing metals, conductive dust can settle in the interior of the
power tool. The total insulation of thepowertoolcanbeim-
paired.
A blunt diamond cup wheel 15 can be reground by briefly
grinding abrasive material (e.g. lime-sand brick).
Please store and handle the accessory(-ies) carefully.
If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this has to
be done by Bosch or an authorized Bosch service agent in or-
der to avoid a safety hazard.
Changing the Brush Collar
Toensureoptimaldustextraction,changeawornbrushcollar
in good time.
GBR 15 CA: Using a screwdriver, carefully pry out the brush
collar11 at the openings of the brush guide with the diamond
cup wheel 15 mounted. Use the diamond cup wheel for lever-
age while prying out.
Carefullypush a newbrushcollar 11tothestopintothebrush
guide.Wheninsertingthenew brush collar, payattentionthat
the ends of the brush collar are not positioned in one of the
openings of the brush guide.
GBR 15CAG(see figureC): Press(forexamplewithascrew-
driver) into both openings 5of the guard. You can remove
both parts of the brush collar 4from under the machine.
Carefully push the two new parts of the brush collar 4to the
stop into the brush guide. When inserting the new brush col-
lar, pay attention that the ends of the brush collar are not po-
sitioned in one of the openings of the brush guide.
