Safety Rules
Read all safety warnings and all in-
structions. Failure to follow the
warnings and instructions may result
in electric shock, fire and/or serious
injury.
Save these instructions.
fDo not vacuum materials that are harmful to
one's health, e. g. dust from beech or oak
wood, masonry dust, asbestos. These materi-
als are considered carcinogenic.
fDo not vacuum inflammable or explosive flu-
ids; for example, benzene, oil, alcohol, sol-
vents. Do not vacuum hot or burning dust.
Do not operate the machine in rooms where
the danger of an explosion exists. The dusts,
vapours or fluids can ignite or explode.
fKeep the vacuum cleaner away from rain and
moisture. Water entering the vacuum cleaner
increases the risk of an electric shock.
fWhen operating the vacuum cleaner in damp
environments, use a residual current device
(RCD). Using a residual current device (RCD)
reduces the risk of an electric shock.
fConnect the vacuum cleaner to a properly
earthed mains supply. The socket outlet and
the extension cable must have an operative
protective conductor.
fDo not use the vacuum cleaner when the
mains cable, plug or switch is damaged. Do
not touch the damaged cable, plug or switch,
and pull the mains plug when the cable is
damaged while working. Damaged cables,
plugs or switches increase the risk of an elec-
tric shock.
fDo not drive over, crush or stretch the cable.
Do not pull the cable to unplug the plug from
the socket outlet or to move the vacuum
cleaner. Damaged cablesincrease the risk of
an electric shock.
fDuring work breaks, when not in use or
when working on the machine (e. g. chang-
ing tool inserts, repairs, cleaning, adjust-
ments), pull the mains plug. This safety meas-
ure prevents accidental starting of the
vacuum cleaner.
fProvide for good ventilation at the working
place.
fDo not allow children to use the vacuum
cleaner without supervision. Children can in-
jure themselves.
fHave the vacuum cleaner repaired only
through qualified specialists and only using
original spare parts. This ensures that the
safety of your vacuum cleaner is maintained.
Functional Description
While reading the operating instructions, unfold
the graphics page for the vacuum cleaner and
leave it open.
Intended Use
The machine is intended for pick-up and vacuum-
ing of non-hazardous materials and non-flamma-
ble liquids. BIA filter category M.

Noise/Vibration Information
Measured values determined according to
EN 60704.
Typically the A-weighted sound pressure level of
the vacuum cleaner is below 70 dB(A).

Assembly
fBefore any work on the vacuum cleaner it-
self, pull the mains plug.
Replacing/Inserting the Dust Bag
(see figure A)
– Unlock the latches 10 and remove the vacuum
lid 3.
– Pull off the full dust bag 11 from the connec-
tion flange toward the rear. Close the opening
of the dust bag by folding down the lid. Re-
move the closed dust bag from the vacuum
cleaner.
– Slide the new dust bag 11 over the connection
flange of the vacuum cleaner. Make sure that
the full length of the dust bag 11 faces against
the inner wall of the container 9. Reattach the
vacuum lid 3.
– Lock the latches 10.
– Mount the vacuum hose 8onto the hose con-
nection piece 7and turn it in clockwise direc-
tion to the stop.
– Insert the extension tubes firmly into each
other.
Note: Bosch recommends using static-discharg-
ing hoses with a hose Ø of 19 or 35 mm.
For dry vacuuming operation, a dust bag 11
should be inserted. When operating with a dust
bag 11, the folded filter 12 clogs slower, the vac-
uuming performance is kept up longer and the
disposal of dust becomes easier.

Operation
Starting Operation
fObserve correct mains voltage! The voltage
of the power source must agree with the
voltage specified on the nameplate of the
vacuum cleaner. Equipment marked with
230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
fSwitch the vacuum cleaner off immediately
as soon as foam or water comes out, and
empty the container. Otherwise, the vacuum
cleaner can become damaged.
Symbols on the Mode Selector Switch
Switching On and Off
To start the operation of the vac, set the mode
selector switch 4to on.
To switch off the vac, set the mode selector
switch 4to off.
Operation with remote automatic switching
Set the mode selector switch 4to the operation
with remote automatic switching symbol.
The vacuum cleaner is switched on automatically
by the power tool connected to the socket 5.
For connecting power tools, various hose sys-
tems are available as accessories.
To start the operation of the vac, switch on the
power tool connected to the socket 5. The vacu-
um cleaner starts automatically.
To switch off the vac, switch off the power tool.
The vacuum cleaner switches off automatically
approx. 6 seconds later.
Electromagnetic filter cleaning
The machine is equipped with an electromagnet-
ic filter cleaning system, which removes dust ad-
hering to the folded filter 12.
The filter cleaning system must be actuated lat-
est when the vacuuming performance is no long-
er sufficient.
Set the mode selector switch 4to the symbol
electromagnetic filter cleaning. A possibly con-
nected power tool must be switched off.
The machine vibrates for approx. 10 seconds and
switches off automatically.
Wait shortly before restarting the vacuuming op-
eration so that the dust can settle in the contain-
er.
The filter cleaning frequency depends on the
type and amount of dust. With regular usage, the
maximum vacuuming performance is maintained
longer.
Wet Vacuuming
fDo not vacuum inflammable or explosive flu-
ids; for example, benzene, oil, alcohol, sol-
vents. Do not vacuum hot or burning dust.
Do not operate the machine in rooms where
the danger of an explosion exists. The dusts,
vapours or fluids can ignite or explode.
fBefore any work on the vacuum cleaner it-
self, pull the mains plug.
Note: Before wet vacuuming, the dust bag 11
must be removed and the container 9must be
emptied.
The machine is equipped with level sensors 14.
The vac switches off when the maximum filling
height is reached. Set the mode selector switch
4to off.
After vacuuming, remove the folded filter 12 in
order to avoid mildew, and allow it to dry thor-
oughly, or remove the vacuum lid 3and allow it
to dry.

Maintenance and Service
Maintenance and Cleaning
fBefore any work on the vacuum cleaner it-
self, pull the mains plug.
fFor safe and proper working, always keep
the vacuum cleaner and ventilation slots
clean.
If the vacuum cleaner should fail despite the care
taken in manufacturing and testing procedures,
repair should be carried out by an after-sales
service centre for Bosch power tools.
In all correspondence and spare parts order,
please always include the 10-digit article number
given on the type plate of the machine.
WARNING! This appliance must be earthed.
Important instructions for connecting a new
3-pin plug.
The wires in the cable are coloured according to
the following code:
Do not connect the blue or brown wire to the
earth terminal of the plug.
Important: If for any reason the moulded plug is
removed from the cable of this power tool, it
must be disposed of safely.
Removing/Replacing the Folded Filter
(see figure B)
Replace a damaged folded filter 12 immediately.
– With a coin or similar, rotate the lock 6by
1/4 turn in the direction of the arrow and
push the lock in.
– Fold up the vacuum lid 3, grasp the folded fil-
ter 12 by the fins, pull up and remove.
– Clean the folded filter 12.
– Insert new or cleaned folded filter 12 and en-
sure firm seating.
– Fold the vacuum lid 3down again. With slight
pressure from above on the cover, the lock 6
will snap back again.
Container
Wipe out the container 9from time to time with
a commercially available, non-scouring cleaning
agent and allow to dry.
Motor Protection Filter (see figure B)
The motor protection filter 13 is basically mainte-
nance- free. Take out the motor protection filter
from time to time and flush it with clear water. Al-
low the motor protection filter to dry thoroughly
before reinserting.
Level Sensors
Clean the level sensors 14 occasionally.
Unlock the latches 10 and remove the vacuum lid
3.
Clean the level sensors 14 with a soft cloth.
Reattach the vacuum lid 3again and lock the
latches 10.
Malfunctions
In the case of insufficient vacuuming perform-
ance, check the following:
– Is the vacuum lid 3attached properly?
– Is the hose system clogged?
– Are the extension tubes connected firmly?
–Isthecontainer9full?
– Is the dust bag 11 full?
– Is the folded filter 12 clogged with dust?
Emptying at regular intervals ensures optimum
vacuuming performance.
If the vacuuming performance is not achieved
thereafter, take the vacuum cleaner to customer
service.
