Basic Service
DESCRIPTION
≤ 10 MINUTES
To determine safe and proper operation
of all features of the hoist. Minimal clean-
ing done by air line, no moving parts re-
moved. (Re-labeling would require more
time.)
1. Overall inspection of all systems of the
hoist by a simple visual examination.
2. Overall inspection of all systems of the
hoist by operator’s daily checklist found in
the operator’s manual.
3. Minor and and basic cleaning per-
formed such as what may be typical of
compressed air from an air line would
accomplish.
4. Minor labeling as necessary for scratch-
es or minimal paint or debris accumula-
tion.
ASSUMPTION
1. The hoist is new or recently serviced.
2. Basic/bench service would occur at
roughly 1-30 days from the last annu-
al service or the date of install of a new
hoist, but not in excess of 1 year from
these dates.
3. The hoist has not been abused in any
shape, form or fashion. It has been cor-
rectly installed, used in accordance with
the guidelines of the operator’s manual,
daily operator’s checks are being per-
formed and general housekeeping mainte-
nance procedures are being adhered to.
Skill Level: Apprentice
It is not necessary to remove moving me-
chanical parts for this service and it can
be completed in no more time than 10
minutes by the apprentice-level service
technician.

Overhaul Service
DESCRIPTION
≤ 1 HOUR
Overhaul service would include a com-
plete tear down and inspection of all of the
hoist’s components and parts. All of the
parts are inspected according to the man-
ufacturer’s standards. If any part is found
to be out of tolerance, damaged or has
exceeded its useful life, it is replaced or
corrected as needed.
1. Overhaul service would include a com-
plete tear down of the hoist.
2. Inspections would be inspected accord-
ing to the manufacturer’s standards.
3. Any part out of specication with the
manufacturer’s standards would be re-
placed.
4. Thorough cleaning would be performed
while the hoist was completely disassem-
bled.
5. Lubrication specications would be
followed during the assembly of the hoist
prior to returning to service.
6. After the hoist has been assembled
it will undergo all necessary operational
checks to prove proper operation. This
will take approximately 15-30 minutes for
testing.
ASSUMPTION
1. This service would occur within the
1-month period prior to or 1-month after
the anniversary date of the last overhaul
service date, or on the anniversary date of
the original in service date if required.
2. The hoist has not been abused in any
shape, form or fashion. It has been cor-
rectly installed, used in accordance with
the guidelines of the operator’s manual,
daily operator’s checks are being per-
formed and general housekeeping mainte-
nance procedures are being adhered to.
3. When necessary for extreme environ-
ments, such as environments that contain
salt-water spray or airborne debris like
sand and paint, hoist covers are used.
4. Certain items are deemed wear items
as they are constantly in contact with a
moving steel wire rope and as such will
wear over time.
Skill Level: Factory Training Required
It is necessary to remove moving me-
chanical parts for this service and it can
be completed in less than one hour by the
factory trained service technician.

Progressive Wear
DESCRIPTION
WEAR - a normally occurring condition of
a part that moves and/or is in contact with
another part, a wire rope or some abrasive
material. The particular stage of wear is
important when deciding if a part can con-
tinue to be used normally and safely.
ASSUMPTION
1. Wear items have some expected life
span before replacement is necessary.
2. Generally this life span would not be
shorter than three years or could also be
measured by running time of a hoist in
hours, possibly 50-80 hours of use.
3. Wear begins the very moment that the
hoist accepts a wire rope and continues
over time.
4. Wear is aected by environmental con-
ditions, load being lifted, quality, type and
construction of the wire rope, quality and
materials of the parts that contact the wire
rope.
5. Wear is gradual, when predictable and
reasonable use is a known condition.
6. Wear is accelerated when contaminants
such as sand or other foreign debris accu-
mulates.
7. With the above assumptions being true,
it is reasonable to conclude that wear
items would not be changed out during
the rst 3 years of hoist operation without
some form of abuse or contaminant.

Electrical Parts
DESCRIPTION
ELECTRICAL PARTS - any part that con-
ducts electricity, is normally activated by
electricity or is part of the electrical oper-
ation, control or movement of the hoist.
Many of these parts have an electrical and
a mechanical principle that governs their
operation.
ASSUMPTION
Despite best eorts, eld conditions can
cause electrical parts to sustain voltage
conditions which could to lead to prema-
ture failure. These eects can be progres-
sive or immediate in nature.

DESCRIPTION
PARTS HAZARD TRAINING
ASSUMPTION
Technicians should be aware that individ-
ual parts within a machine may have cer-
tain handling risks. Items such as springs
or snap rings can y from one location to
another. If heavy parts are dropped, they
can cause injuries to the foot. Technicians
should be aware of these potential risks
and take any necessary precaution to
guard against injury. This would include
the use of PPE (Personal Protective
Equipment) such as safety glasses and
steel-toed work boots. If you are unsure
about the risks or hazards of working with
machines or within your shop, consult
your supervisor.
