Introduction
Thank you for choosing this non-contact Digital Infrared Forehead Thermometer.
To further ensure normal operation and accurate readings the product will self-test
every time it starts up. Because of its clever design, non contact readings of body
temperature can be taken which will not be unduly affected by variations in ambient
temperature.
The forehead thermometer can also be used to measure surface temperatures and has
been specifically designed to measure the temperature of baby milk.
In forehead mode the device provides measurements of body temperature between
32°C and 42.2°C (89.6°F to 107.9°F), and in milk mode surface temperatures between
0°C and 100.0°C(32.0°F to 212.0°F).
Please read these instructions carefully before using the product and keep in a safe
place for reference.
Advantages of the Forehead Thermometer
Ease of Use
•Taking measurements is quick, simple and non intrusive.
•Can measure both forehead temperature and the surface temperature of objects.
•Measurements can be taken while the patient is asleep.
•Stores 20 readings in the internal memory which helps track changes in the
temperature of the patient.
•Device will warn user if the temperature of the patient is too high or too low. (see
Fever Warning section)
Safe and Hygienic
•Non contact measurements avoid the accumulation of bacteria, and reduce the need
for cleaning and sterilisation during normal use.
•No danger from broken glass or swallowing the thermometer filling liquid (mercury or
spirit).
•Robust ergonomic design manufactured from tough engineering plastics.
•More comfortable and convenient than anal and oral reading thermometers,
especially for children
Energy Efficient
•The device will automatically switch off after 10 seconds of inactivity.

Safety Instructions
•This device is not suitable for use with newborn babies and children should always
be supervised when using this device to avoid damage and/or misuse.
•The device takes spot temperatures only and is not suitable for continuous
monitoring.
•Do not submerge in water or other liquids. Cleaning and disinfection procedure
shall comply with the instructions specified in ‘cleaning and storage’.
•This thermometer consists of a number of precision parts which are vital to its
reliability and repeatability. Handle with care and do not drop as the device is not
designed to withstand intense shock or vibration. Do not twist the forehead
thermometer or the temperature sensor.
•Please do not use the product if the temperature sensor or the forehead
thermometer shows any sign of damage and do not try to repair the product.
Contact S. Brannan & Sons for assistance.
•All readings taken by this thermometer should be used as a guide only. If you are
in any doubt regarding the condition of the patient you should consult your doctor
without delay.
•Batteries should be inserted correctly to avoid damage to the device and removed
if the thermometer is not likely to be used for a prolonged period.

Battery Installation
1. Push the battery cover horizontally
in the direction of the arrow.
2. If using the thermometer for the first
time, pull out the plastic tab to allow
the batteries to make contact.
3. Insert two AAA batteries in the battery
compartment matching polarities.
Taking Temperature Measurements
1. Press button (2) and move the sensor slowly from side to
side at a distance of 1cm to 6cm from the patients
forehead.
2. The device will click and take readings as long as the
button is kept pressed.
3. Release the button to display the maximum recorded
reading.
Note -The thermometer measures infrared energy emitted
from the forehead which may vary. Measuring a single point
may therefore result in a less accurate reading.
Readings between 32°C / 89.6°F and 37.5°C / 99.5°F will be displayed and the backlight
will turn green. The reading will be accompanied by a single long beep.
Fever Warning - When the readings exceed 37.6°C /99.7°F, the product warns that the
patient may have a fever by 7 rapid, short beeps and a red display. (If a normal body
temperature is recorded, the signal is a long beep and the display will glow green.)
Readings less than 32°C will be displayed as ‘L’ with three short beeps and a red backlight.
Readings greater than 42.2°C will be displayed as ‘H’ with three short beeps and a red
backlight.
When the °C symbol begins to flash, the device is ready to take another reading.
1. Point the sensor at the surface being measured from a
distance of 1cm to 6cm and press button (3).
2. When the reading is complete, the device will beep and
the maximum recorded reading will be displayed.
To switch from one mode to another, the device should be
allowed to switch off and then restart using either button 2 or
3, depending upon which mode is required.

Additional Tips to Achieve Accurate Measurements
•Ensure the temperature sensor is clear of dirt or dust.
•Ensure the forehead is clean and dry and the patients temperature has not been
affected by exercise or extreme emotions prior to taking a reading.
•If the instrument or the patient has been transferred from one place to another where
the ambient conditions are different, wait for minimum of 30 minutes before use.
•Do not hold the instrument for an extended period of time as it is highly sensitive to
heat.
Interpretation of Display
Device is in Forehead Mode and reading is within the defined measureme
range.
Backlight will be green.
Device is in Milk Mode and reading is within the defined measurement ran
Backlight will be green.
Maximum temperature recorded is higher than the defined measurement
range.
Backlight will be red.
Maximum temperature recorded is lower than the defined measurement
range.
Backlight will be red.
Checking Stored Readings
To access stored readings, press button (3) for 4-8 seconds and the
display will show “- - -” with a flashing M.
Pressing button 3 again will display the number 1 and then the last
reading stored. Repeated pressing of button 3 will display the last 20
recordings taken.
The data shown is forehead readings only, milk temperatures are not
stored.
If repeated pressing of button 3 does not scroll through the readings,
then no readings are stored at that time.

Page 7
Changing Units °C/°F
To change the temperature units, press button (3) for 8-12 seconds and the
display will first show “- - -” with an M before showing “- - -” with a flashing °C.
Pressing button 3 again will change the units from °C to °F and vice versa.
The units will change each time button 3 is pressed within 5 seconds.
Having changed the units the device will start up in Milk Mode. If forehead
readings are required the device should be allowed to power down and be
started in forehead mode by pressing button 2.
