Important Safeguards
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
READ AND SAVE THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING
THIS PRODUCT.
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to
reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury, including the following:
1. Read all instructions before
operating this thermometer.
2. Keep the sensor clean before and
after measurement.
3. This thermometer works best in
temperatures between
61° F/16° C and 95° F/35° C.
4. Do not use this thermometer in
extreme temperatures (below
32° F/0° C, above 104° F/40° C, or
above 85% relative humidity).
5. If the thermometer is moved
between areas with a large
temperature differences, allow
the thermometer to acclimate for
20 minutes before use.
6. Always use a clinical thermometer
to verify any abnormal temperature
measurements.
7. For household use only. Not
intended for medical or healthcare
facility use.
8. Keep out of reach of children under
12 years.
9. Never use the thermometer for
purposes other than those it has
been intended for. Please follow the
general safety precautions when
using on children.
10. Never immerse the thermometer
into water or other liquids (not
waterproof). For cleaning and
disinfecting directions, see the
“Care & Cleaning” section.
11. Keep the thermometer away from
direct exposure to the sun and
keep it in a dustfree, dry area at a
temperature between 60.8° F/16° C
and 104° F/40° C.
12. Do not use the thermometer if
there are signs of damage on
the measuring sensor or on the
instrument itself. If damaged,
do not attempt to repair the
instrument. Contact Customer
Service using the number on the

6
Important Safeguards
14. Please consult your doctor if you
see symptoms such as unexplained
irritability, vomiting, diarrhea,
dehydration, changes in appetite
or activity, seizure, muscle pain,
shivering, stiff neck, pain when
urinating, etc., even in the absence
of fever. Even in the absence of
fever, those who exhibit a normal
temperature may still need to
receive medical attention. People
who are on antibiotics, analgesics,
or antipyretics should not be
assessed solely on temperature
readings to determine the severity
of their illness.
15. Temperature elevation may signal a
serious illness, especially in adults
who are old, frail, have a weakened
immune system, or neonates and
infants. Please seek professional
advice immediately when there is a
temperature elevation and if you are
taking the temperature of:
• Neonates and infants under
3 months.
• Over 60 years of age.
• Those who have diabetes
mellitus or a weakened immune
system (e.g., HIV positive, cancer
chemotherapy, chronic steroid
treatment, splenectomy).
• Those who are bedridden
(e.g., nursing home patient, stroke,
chronic illness, recovering from
surgery).
• Transplant patients (e.g., liver,
heart, lung, kidney).
16. It is important to know each
individual’s normal temperature
when they are well. This is the
only way to accurately diagnose
a fever. Take multiple readings
when healthy to determine normal
temperature.
17. This thermometer is not intended
for pre-term babies or small
for gestational age babies. This
thermometer is not intended to
interpret hypothermic temperatures.
Do not allow children to take their
temperatures unattended.
18. Do not modify this equipment
without authorization of
manufacturer.
19. Use of this thermometer is not
intended as a substitute for
consultation with your physician
or pediatrician.

Directions For Use
Guidelines & Tips
• Keep the thermometer’s sensor clean. Clean the thermometer’s sensor with
an alcohol wipe before and after each use.
• When measuring a person’s temperature in an environment where the ambient
temperature differs greatly from body temperature, have the person wait in
the test environment for at least 10 minutes before measuring the person’s
temperature to allow the person’s body temperature to stabilize. Otherwise,
the temperature reading might be inaccurate.
• If the thermometer has been stored in a cold or hot environment, allow the
thermometer to acclimate to room temperature for 20 minutes before use.
• This thermometer can be used to measure the temperature of objects or
people. After measuring an object with a very high or low temperature, wait at
least 10 minutes before measuring a person’s body temperature.
• The thermometer should only be used in a stable environment to produce
accurate results. For example, do not use this thermometer in the direct path
of a fan or air conditioner’s air flow.
• Do not use this thermometer in direct sunlight.
• For best results, wait a few minutes after a person wakes up before measuring
that person’s temperature.
• Make sure the skin of the person whose temperature is being measured is dry
and that hair does not interfere with the temperature measurement.
• A person should wait at least 30 minutes after eating, bathing, or exercising
before having their temperature measured.
• Do not measure a baby’s temperature during or immediately after
breastfeeding.
• In some cases, three temperature measurements should be taken. Use the
highest measurement as the most accurate reading:
a. When measuring the temperature of children under three years old with
weakened immune systems.
b. When you are not yet completely familiar with using this thermometer.
c. When you suspect the temperature measurement is lower than it should be.
• Due to high metabolism, the body temperature of children under 3 years old
may be slightly higher than adults.
• After heavy exercise, always wait at least 10 minutes before taking forehead
temperature readings.

Directions For Use
Installing the Batteries
1. Remove the Battery Cover by pushing the cover
in the direction of the arrow on the cover.
2. Insert two AAA batteries. Do not use
rechargeable batteries in this thermometer.
Ensure that batteries are installed in the proper
polarity orientation before use. Failure to observe
these precautions can result in the thermometer
overheating. Reattach the Battery Cover.
• Requires 2 AAA batteries (not included).
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Do not mix alkaline, standard, or rechargeable batteries.
• Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
• Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
• Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the thermometer before
being charged.
• Different types of batteries or new and used batteries are not to be mixed.
• Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
• Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the toy.
• The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.

Directions For Use
Body Temperature Measurement
Ensure that the Toggle Switch is set to the body
temperature setting.
1. Press the Trigger to turn on the thermometer.
The LCD Display will turn on.
2. Point the thermometer at the forehead of the
person whose temperature is being taken.
Keep the thermometer 1–2 inches (3–5 cm)
from the target’s forehead.
3. Press and hold the Trigger to measure the target’s
body temperature. Release the trigger when the
temperature reading is displayed.
The best way to determine your normal temperature
range is to use the thermometer when feeling well.
Record readings twice a day (early morning and late
afternoon). Take the average of the two temperatures
to calculate normal oral equivalent temperature.
A child’s normal temperature can be as high as 99.9°F or as low as 97.0°F. Remeasure
with a standard digital thermometer for confirmation, especially on infants.
Fever Guidance
Fever Guidance helps you to better understand the meaning of your child’s
temperature with the color indicated on the display. The screen displays green if no
fever, orange when the temperature is slightly elevated and a red alert for fever.
Color RANGE Reading Meaning
Green <99.5 °F/37.5 °C– Normal
Orange <99.68 °F/37.6 °C– 100.4 °F/38 °C Slightly elevated
Red >100.5 °F/38.1 °C Possible high fever
