Please read these instructions before operating the appliance and retain them for
future use.
This product is not suitable for use by children, and may not be suitable for persons
requiring supervision unless they receive instruction by a competent person on how to
safely use the product. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play
with the product.
This appliance generates heat during use. Adequate precaution must be taken to
prevent the risk of burns, scalds, res or other damage to persons or property caused
by touching the exterior whilst in use or during cooling.
Never use this appliance for anything other than its intended use. This appliance is for
household use only. Do not use this appliance outdoors.
Always ensure that hands are dry before handling the plug or switching on the
appliance.
Always use the appliance on a stable, secure, dry and level surface.
Never use a power base other than the one supplied with the appliance.
This appliance must not be placed on or near any potentially hot surfaces (such as a
gas or electric hob).
The power cord is not replaceable by the user. Always return the appliance if the power
cord is damaged to avoid any hazard.
Do not use the appliance if it has been dropped, if there are any visible signs of
damage or if it is leaking.
Ensure the appliance is switched off and unplugged from the supply socket after use
and before cleaning.
Always allow the appliance to cool before cleaning or storing.
Never immerse any part of the appliance or power cord and plug in water or any other
liquid.
Never let the power cord hang over the edge of a worktop, touch hot surfaces or
become knotted, trapped or pinched.
Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.
Beware of steam coming from the spout or lid especially during relling. Never open
the lid during the boiling cycle.
Never ll the appliance when it is positioned on the power base.
Never ll the appliance above the MAX marking. If the appliance is overlled, boiling
water may be ejected.
Never use the appliance without sufcient water for it to operate correctly.
Never allow the appliance to boil dry.

before first use
Remove any packaging and promotional material from your tea maker/kettle and position
it on a stable, secure, dry and level work surface away from the edge.
Before connecting to a power source, make sure your mains supply voltage is the same
as the one indicated on the appliance. Connect the plug to a suitable power outlet and
make sure that the power cord does not overhang the work surface. Excess power cord
can be stored in the power base.
Remove your tea maker/kettle from the power base and remove the tea carriage and
infuser.
Fill your tea maker/kettle to the maximum mark.
Fit the kettle lid.
Place your tea maker/kettle back onto the power base.
Press the START/STOP button. The BOIL light will illuminate.
Press the START/STOP button and allow your tea maker/kettle to boil.
Discard the water.
Repeat twice. This will remove any residue left over from the manufacturing process.

If your tea maker/kettle is lled above the maximum level mark, hot water may
be ejected from the spout during boiling. Beware of steam coming from your tea
maker/kettle especially during relling. Never open your tea maker/kettle when it is
boiling.
Put the required quantity of tea leaves into the tea carriage. You can also use tea
bags if desired.
Line up the arrow on the tea carriage knob with the UNLOCK marking on the rim of
the infuser then slide the tea carriage into the infuser.
Rotate the arrow on the tea carriage knob until it is aligned with the BASKET
RAISED marking on the rim of the infuser. This will raise the tea carriage upwards.
Fill the body with the required amount of water. Don’t ll your tea maker/kettle past
the MAX mark and always ensure that there is at least 500ml (approximately 2
cupfuls) of water in your tea maker/kettle.
With the dot on the tab of the infuser positioned a few degrees anticlockwise of the
dot on the handle, as shown, slide the infuser/tea carriage into the body of your tea
maker.
Rotate the infuser/tea carriage clockwise until the two dots align as shown.
Place the body of your tea maker/kettle onto the power base and plug the base into a
suitable power supply socket.
Press the START/STOP button. The START/STOP button will ash red and the
SELECT button and the BOIL indicator will be lit. This is the default setting for your
tea maker. If you want a different temperature, press the SELECT button to choose
the LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH setting.
Press the START/STOP button. The START/STOP button will illuminate white and
your tea maker/kettle will start to heat the water to the selected setting. As your tea
maker/kettle approaches the selected temperature, it will pause for a few moments
then continue heating. This is normal operation. When the correct temperature has
been reached the START/STOP button will ash red.
8. Rotate the arrow on the tea carriage knob until it is aligned with the BREW marking
on the rim of the infuser. This will lower the tea carriage into the water.
9. Allow your tea to brew to the desired strength and then rotate the tea carriage
knob until the arrow is aligned with the BASKET RAISED marking on the rim of the
infuser. This will lift the tea carriage out of the water preventing further brewing.
You may now pour the brewed tea directly from your tea maker/kettle.

If your tea maker/kettle is lled above the maximum level mark, hot water may

kettle is boiling.
Using your tea maker/kettle as a conventional kettle
The separate lid supplied with your tea maker/kettle alows it to be used just like a
conventional kettle. You can also use your tea maker/kettle in this way to heat the water
to one of the preset temperatures (Low, Medium, High or Boil).
Fill the body with the required amount of water. Don’t ll your tea maker/kettle past
the MAX mark and always ensure that there is at least 250ml (approximately 1
cupful) of water in your tea maker/kettle.
Align the lid with its dot positioned a few degrees anticlockwise of the dot on the
handle, as shown.
Rotate the lid clockwise until the two dots align as shown.
Place the body of your tea maker/kettle onto the power base and plug the base into a
suitable power supply socket.
Press the START/STOP button. The START/STOP button will ash red and the
SELECT button and the BOIL indicator will be lit. This is the default setting for your
tea maker. If you want a different temperature, press the SELECT button to choose
the LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH setting.
Press the START/STOP button. The START/STOP button will illuminate white and
your tea maker/kettle will start to heat the water to the selected setting. As your tea
maker/kettle approaches the selected temperature, it will pause for a few moments
then continue heating. This is normal operation. When the correct temperature has

conventional kettle.

using your kettle
Keep Warm function
After serving the tea, you may want to keep the remaining tea warm.
Simply replace the kettle onto the power base and press the WARM button.
The WARM button will light up red and your tea maker/kettle will maintain the
temperature of the tea at approximately 75º C for approximately 60 minutes. After 60
minutes the keep warm function will switch off. The keep warm function will also switch off
if the tea maker/kettle is lifted from its power base.
To cancel the keep warm function, press the WARM button until the light goes out.
If your tea maker/kettle boils dry
If your tea maker/kettle is operated with insufcient water a built in safety device will
automatically switch it back off to prevent damage. If this should happen:
Unplug your tea maker/kettle and allow it to cool. When your tea maker/kettle has
cooled down sufciently the safety device will reset itself.
Once the safety device has reset, rell your tea maker/kettle with cold water and use
it as normal.

Tea is grown and produced in different environments and requires diferent water
temperatures to allow its true avour and aroma to develop during brewing. To bring
out the taste of more delicate tea leaves, a lower temperature is required. For example,
brewing green or white teas in boiling water will scald the tea leaves and the taste will be
bitter and unpleasant.
Brewing the tea for too long may also result in a bitter, unpleasant taste, while brewing
for too short a period may leave the tea bland. For best results always follow the specic
directions on the packet.
The following table provides a guide to some of the common tea varieties and their
recommended temperature settings. Flavour will always be a personal preference so
don’t be afraid to experiment with temperatures and brewing times.

Always unplug your tea maker/kettle from the mains supply socket and allow it
to completely cool down before cleaning or descaling it. Do not immerse your tea
maker/kettle, power base or power cord and plug in water or any other liquid.
Clean the exterior surface of your tea maker/kettle with a damp cloth and then polish
with a soft dry cloth. Do not use steel wool pads or harsh/abrasive cleaners. This will
damage the nish.
Clean the interior of your tea maker/kettle with a soft bristled brush such as a dish
brush. A little detergent may be used but be careful to thoroughly rinse the detergent
out after cleaning.
Clean the tea carriage and infuser in warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly then dry.
Descale your tea maker/kettle regularly to keep it working efciently. Use a
proprietary descaling product following the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
Cleaning the lter
Before removing or retting the lter, switch off your tea maker/kettle and empty
it. Allow it to cool completely, then unplug the power base from the mains supply
socket. Never operate your tea maker/kettle without the lter tted.
Remove the lter from behind the spout.
Rinse the lter under a tap whilst brushing it with a soft brush.
In hard water areas it may be necessary to descale the lter using a descaling
agent. Use a proprietary descaling product following the manufacturer’s instructions
carefully. The lter may be washed safely in the cutlery rack of a dishwasher.
Ret the lter back into your tea maker/kettle.

connection to the mains supply
This appliance must be earthed.
This appliance is tted with either a moulded or rewirable BS1363, 13 amp plug. The fuse
should be rated at 13 amps and be ASTA approved to BS1362.
If the fuse in a moulded plug needs to be changed, the fuse cover must be retted. The
appliance must not be used without the fuse cover tted.
If the plug is unsuitable, it should be dismantled and removed from the supply cord
and an appropriate plug tted as detailed below. If you remove the plug it must not be
connected to a 13 amp socket and the plug must be disposed of immediately.
The wires of the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
GREEN/YELLOW = EARTH BLUE = NEUTRAL BROWN = LIVE
The wire which is coloured GREEN/YELLOW must be connected to the terminal in
your plug which is marked with an E or by the earth symbol ( ) or coloured GREEN or
GREEN /YELLOW.
The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal in your plug which is
marked with the letter N or coloured BLACK.
The wire which is coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal in your plug which
is marked with the letter L or coloured RED.
If any other plug is used, a 13 amp fuse must be tted either in the plug or adaptor or at
the distributor board.

parts. Follow these steps if the unit fails to operate:
Check the instructions have been followed correctly.
Check that the fuse has not blown.
Check that the mains supply is functional.
If the appliance will still not operate, return the appliance to the place it was purchased for
a replacement. To return the appliance to the Customer Service Department, follow the
steps below:
Pack it carefully (preferably in the original carton). Ensure the unit is clean.
Enclose your name and address and quote the model number on all correspondence.
Give the reason why you are returning it.
If within the guarantee period, state when and where it was purchased and include
proof of purchase (e.g. till receipt).
