Please read the following instructions before operating the
SolarPort unit.
* ALWAYS connect the power cable and adapters first, then the electronic device last. Otherwise it may cause a short circuit.
* DO NOT attempt to recharge NON-RECHARGEABLE alkaline batteries.
* When using the SolarPort in a vehicle, make sure the vehicle’s temperature is within the allowable specified range (see Specifications).
Step 1: Testing
Open the SolarPort by pressing the small black latch at the front of the unit. Place in full
sunlight and test by pressing the yellow test button to the right of the latch. The green LED
will light up indicating sufficient sunlight is present, and your unit is working properly.
Step 2: Positioning
Always select a location where your SolarPort will get the maximum sunlight. Tilt the
SolarPort towards the sun for best performance.
Step 3: Window Mounting
The SolarPort comes with 2 suction cups (2). This allows you to mount your SolarPort
directly to a window. Before mounting to a window, secure the suction cups in the holes on
the inside of the frame (Fig. 1).
Step 4: Selecting 6V/12V
On the back of the SolarPort, you will find a
6V/12V switch. Select the 6V position when
connecting to electronics requiring 6V or
less (e.g. MP3, minidisc players, digital
cameras and electronic games). Select the
12V position when connecting to electronics
requiring 12V, or when using the female
socket adapter cable (1). Always check the
electronic’s specifications before using the SolarPort.
Instructions
ProperAdapter Connection
Cellular Phone Connection
In the 6V position (recommended for faster charging (Fig. 4), the female socket adapter
cable (1) plugs into the female socket (B). Then, plug the male cigarette adapter plug
(*not included) into the female socket adapter cable (Fig. 3). Plug the male cigarette
adapter plug into your cell phone.
All connections should be made correctly before plugging in your cell phone. If your cell
phone does not indicate that it is charging, while in the 6V position, switch to the 12V
position.

Power cable (3)
2.5 mm male adapter
3.5 mm male adapter
5.5 x 2.5 mm female adapter
5.5 x 2.1 mm female adapter
5.0 x 2.1 mm female adapter
4.0 x 1.7 mm female adapter
3.5 x 1.4 mm female adapter
Start by connecting the power
cable (3) to the female socket
(B) of the SolarPort. Then,
connect the adapter (4 - 10) that best
fits the electronic’s power jack to the power
cable. Connect the adapter to the electronic
device.
VERY IMPORTANT
:Most SolarPort users in North America must match the adapter
(4 - 10) to the power cable (3), + to + (positive to positive) if their electronic device
displays the symbol . This symbol is usually found next to the power output of
the electronic device. Conversely, most SolarPort users in Europe must match adapters to
the power cable + to - (positive to negative) if their electronic device displays this
symbol . No charging will occur if the incorrect polarity is used.

Connections
It is possible to double the charging power by plugging more than on SolarPort together, using the
sliding male plug (A) on the back of the unit. Remove the rubber cap, slide the switch into it’s locking
position (Fig. 6), insert the male plug (A) into the female socket (B) of an additional SolarPort (Fig. 7).

Q: Can the SolarPort DRAIN my battery at night?
A: No. The SolarPort has a built-in diode for reverse current protection.
Q: Can my SolarPort be left outdoors without a protective covering?
A: Yes. However, the SolarPort should be taken indoors in anticipation of rain, snow, etc. even though it has been weatherproofed.
Q: The green light (LED) on the panel does not light up.
A: The green light (LED) indicates that your unit is receiving sufficient sunlight exposure. If it is not lit, it may mean that you are not exposing the
unit to enough sunlight. Properly position the solar panel to maximize its exposure to the sun. If this does not trigger the LED to work, it is
possible that the LED is burnt out. The LED may have a more limited life span than the panel. This in no way affects the performance of the
SolarPort.
Q: Can I charge more than one battery at a time with the SolarPort?
A: Yes. The charge can be applied to a bank of “AA” batteries. When attached to a bank of 2 or more batteries, the total power input will be
divided into that number of batteries. The higher the number of batteries, the longer it will take to recharge the battery bank.
Q: What happens if I use the wrong polarity?
A: No charging will occur. See section on Proper Adapter Connection.
