GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Gas appliances ust be installed in accordance with the rules in force. In the UK it is the
law that all gas appliances ust be installed by a Gas Safe™ registered installer (for erly
CORGI), in accordance with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) regulations (as
a ended). The installation ust also be in accordance with the relevant parts of local and
national building regulations and in accordance with BS5871 pt4 except where Burley
instruction state differently. For the Republic of Ireland, reference should be ade to
IS813 and ICP3 and any guidance notes fro Bord Gais. Failure to have the fire fitted by a
qualified person nullifies ALL guarantees.
3.2 The space to be heated ust have a wall vent of at least 100c ² of ventilation and an
openable window or patio door that co unicates directly to the outside. The vent ust
be positioned at least 1 etre away fro the appliance, in the Republic of Ireland two
vents of not less than 60c ² each, one not less than 1.6 above the other, ust be
installed in the roo . With the ini u size roo and with the ventilation specified, the
concentration of NO2 in the roo will be less than 150ppb.
3.3 When providing ventilator openings consideration ust be given to the avoidance of
locations where disco fort fro draughts ay cause the user to block the openings.
Si ilarly the possibility of curtains or furniture blocking ventilation openings ust be
considered. Floor ven s, ceiling ven s, closable window ven s or chimneys are no
sui able means of ven ila ion.
3.4 Working surfaces include the air outlet grille.
3.5 The heater ust not be used in a roo of less than 50 ³ in volu e. Adjoining spaces, not
separated by a door ay be included. To convert cubic feet (ft³) to cubic etre ( ³)
divide the roo volu e in cubic feet by 35.3.
3.6 The heater ust not be installed in high rise blocks of flats (unless a gas supply already
exists), bed sitting roo s, base ents which are not open on at least one side, bathroo s,
or bedroo s, in corridors stairways landing or hallways of ulti occupancy dwellings,
garages or roo s containing petroleu products.
3.7 Soft furnishings, decorations and wall coverings etc. ust not be placed within 1 etre of
the appliance and its convection outlets (see 5.0). Be aware of curtains etc which could be
blown towards the appliance.
3.8 The heater is intended as a secondary hea source. Check that a pri ary source of heat
(such as radiators) is present in the roo . If insufficient pri ary heat is being used there
ay be a build up of condensation, if this is the case, please warn the custo er of this.
3.9 The heater ust not be used in roo s where the at osphere is likely to contain water or
che ical vapours which ay adversely affect the appliance or its finish.
3.10 Do not use whilst painting & decorating, or in newly decorated roo s as the residues can
lead to unpleasant s ells fro the appliance. Always cover or have the appliance
re oved when decorating. (See points to note on page 14)
3.11 Candles too close to the fire ay elt. Scented candles ust be at least 1 etre away
fro the appliance.
3.12 Air freshener residues can enter the appliance and lead to residual odours, especially the
plug in type.
3.13 The catalyst is not an air cleaner and presence of odours is unlikely to be catalyst failure.
3.14 Houses with war air heating syste s, solid walls, or no da p proof course ay be
unsuitable for Flueless appliances.
3.15 This heater does not contain asbestos.
3.16 The oxy pilot can beco e blocked by fibres fro new carpets and pet hairs advise the
custo er to vacuu around the pilot on a regular basis to prevent blockage to pilot unit.
