C ntr ls.
The fire is controlled by 3 switches. The far left switch turns on the light and flame effect.
The centre switch turns on 1 kW of heat and the right switch turns on the nd kW of heat.
The fan speed does not increase with the nd kW. The left hand switch must be on for the
other switches to operate.
P siti ning f c als. Place the coals on the fibreglass fuel bed, putting pieces down the
front behind the bars first and then putting a layer across the top of the bed. If extra coal is
needed for any reason, it is perfectly acceptable to use normal washed household coal.
Maintenance.
WARNING - DISCONNECT THE APPLIANCE FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE
UNDERTAKING ANY MAINTENANCE.
1) Replacing lamps. Remove the pieces of coal, lift off the fibreglass fuel bed. Replace the
lamp with a 60 Watt fireglow bulb, these are available from most electrical shops or
supermarkets. Re-assemble in reverse order before reconnecting to the power supply.
) Cleaning. The air inlet grille will need cleaning from time to time. The air inlet grille is on
the back of the fan heater box. Brush the grille to remove any dust or fluff.

To find the cause of an operational fault, plug the fire into the wall socket and turn all 3
switches on.
Sympt ms.
a) N heat r light. This will almost certainly mean that the fuse has blown or the wall
socket is faulty. Fit a new 13 amp fuse (brown) in the plug having first checked that it works
in a table lamp. Check that the wall socket works by also plugging in a table lamp. Is the fire
on an extension lead? Heaters must not be used on extension leads as most have their own
cut out and are not rated for the power required..
b) The heat c mes n but n light. The bulb will have failed, see replacing lamps. Check
that a new lamp works by testing it in a table lamp.
c) Light comes on but no heat. See maintenance .
d) Heater cuts ut (with a blue flash), and blows cold. See (cleaning maintenance 2).
e) Plugs get h t. It is nearly always the socket which is at fault. Check the fire in another
socket, it will not get as warm. Stop using the socket immediately and call an electrician.
Many house fires are caused by faulty sockets overheating.
f) Light is n but flame effect is n t w rking. Unplug the fire, remove the coals
and fuel bed, (see changing lamps,) check that the fan is not being obstructed and
turns freely, gently brush the blades of the fan to remove any dust and reassemble.
g) Blemishes in the casting. All the castings used on the fire are hand poured into
moulds styled by craftsmen. The individuality of the process may create slight
blemishes which unfortunately are unavoidable.
h) Bulbs d n t last very l ng. If the bulbs keep blowing there is not a fault with
the fire. It is not possible to predict the life of a lamp, some burn out more quickly
than others.
j) N ise fr m the fans. Unfortunately there is always some noise from the fans.
We do our utmost to reduce this but they will never be silent.
