GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Gas app iances must be insta ed in accordance with the ru es in force. In the UK it is the
aw that a gas app iances must be insta ed by a Gas Safe™ registered insta er (former y
CORGI), in accordance with the Gas Safety (Insta ation and Use) regu ations (as
amended). The insta ation must a so be in accordance with the re evant parts of oca and
nationa bui ding regu ations and in accordance with BS5871 pt4 except where Bur ey
instruction state different y. For the Repub ic of Ire and, reference shou d be made to
IS813 and ICP3 and any guidance notes from Bord Gais. Fai ure to have the fire fitted by a
qua ified person nu ifies ALL guarantees. In the event of gas eakage, the fire must be
turned off at the nearest iso ating va ve.
2.2 The space to be heated must have a wa vent of at east 100cm² of venti ation and an
open ab e window or patio door. The vent must be positioned at east 1 metre away from
the app iance.
2.3 In the Repub ic of Ire and two vents of not ess than 60cm² each, one not ess than 1.6m
above the other, must be insta ed in the room.
2.4 When providing venti ator openings consideration must be given to the avoidance of
ocations where discomfort from draughts may cause the user to b ock the openings.
Simi ar y the possibi ity of curtains or furniture b ocking venti ation openings must be
considered. Floor vents, closable window vents or chimneys are not suitable means o
ventilation.
2.5 Working surfaces inc ude the air out et gri e.
2.6 The heater must not be used in a room of ess than 30m³ in vo ume. Adjoining spaces, not
separated by a door may be inc uded. To convert cubic feet (ft³) to cubic metre (m³)
divide the room vo ume in cubic feet by 35.3.
2.7 Soft furnishings, decorations and wa coverings etc. must not be p aced within 1 metre of
the app iance and its convection out ets (see 5.0). Be aware of curtains etc which cou d be
b own towards the app iance.
2.8 The heater is intended as a secondary heat source. Check that a primary source of heat
(such as radiators) is present in the room. If insufficient primary heat is being used there
may be a bui d-up of condensation, if this is the case, p ease warn the customer of this.
2.9 The heater must not be used in rooms where the atmosphere is ike y to contain water or
chemica vapours which may adverse y affect the app iance or its finish.
2.10 Do not use whi st painting & decorating, or in new y decorated rooms as the residues can
ead to unp easant sme s from the app iance. A ways cover or have the app iance
removed when decorating. (See points to note on page 14)
2.11 Cand es too c ose to the fire may me t. Scented cand es must be at east 1 metre away
from the app iance.
2.12 Air freshener residues can enter the app iance and ead to residua odours, especia y the
p ug in type.
2.13 The cata yst is not an air c eaner and presence of odours is un ike y to be cata yst fai ure.
2.14 Houses with warm air heating systems, so id wa s, or no damp proof course may be
unsuitab e for F ue ess app iances.
2.15 This heater does not contain asbestos.
2.16 The oxy pi ot can become b ocked by fibres from new carpets and pet hairs advise the
customer to vacuum around the pi ot on a regu ar basis to prevent b ockage to pi ot unit.
