4. OPERATION
TheHNS050MDisacombinationofpassiveinfra-redmotionandlightleveldetectorthatdetectsmotionupto
2mfromthesensor.TheHNS050MDisasensorandiftheroomisdark(<20lux)willtriggertheCabacS-Click
timertoturnthelightONattherstinstanceofmovementforaxedamountoftime-offeringbothhands
freeswitchingandpowersavings.SeeSection3forcompatibleproducts.
WhentheHNS050MDdetectsmotioninadarkenedroomorhallwayitwilltriggertheconnectedtimerswitch.
TheroomorhallwayneedstobefairlydarkbeforethesensorwilltriggerthetimerandturnthelightON.The
lightcanalwaysbeturnedondirectlyatthetimerswitch.Thelengthoftimethelightstaysonissetonthe
timerswitch.
WhenusedwiththeHNS410TMorHNS420TMtimers,thelightswillashbrieyabout1secondaftermotionis
detected,beforeturningonforthesettimingperiod.

5. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
TheHNS050MDistobeinstalledaspartofaxedwireelectricalinstallation.Bylawsuchinstallationsmust
bemadebyanelectricalcontractororsimilarlyqualiedperson.Avoidexcessiveforceonterminalblock
duringinstallation.
5.1 WIRING
• Disconnectpoweratthecircuitbreakerbeforeanyelectricalwork.
• InsertCabacS-ClickTimerSwitchintofaceplateasperinstructionsinitsmanual.
• InsertHNS050MDintofaceplaceandttheappropriatelens,asshowninFigure1.
• ConnecttheHNS050MDandCabacS-ClickTimerSwitchasperthewiringdiagraminFigure2for2-wire
timer(HNS410TM/HNS420TM)installationorFigure3for3-wiretimer(HNS440TM/HNS450TM)installation.
• FitfaceplacewiththeHNS050MDandCabacS-ClickTimerontowall.
• Reconnectpoweratthecircuitbreakeronceinstallationiscomplete.
• Afterinstallationwaitapproximately30to40secondsfortheHNS050MDtocompletestart-upsequence.
LEDwillashduringthisstart-upsequence.
• Triggerthemotiondetectorandensurethedetectorandtimeroperatecorrectly.TheHNS050MDwillonly
detectmotioniftheroomisdark.
NOTE:TheHNS050MDisdesignedforindooruse.Itisnotratedforoutdoorinstallation.

7. IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNINGS
7.1 LOAD REPLACEMENT
• ItshouldbeassumedthatevenwhenOFF,mainsvoltagewillstillbepresentatthelamptting.Mains
powershouldbedisconnectedatthecircuitbreakerbeforereplacingfaultylamps.
7.2 HNS050MD INSTALLATION
• TheHNS050MDistobeinstalledaspartofaxedwireelectricalinstallation.Bylawsuchinstallations
mustbemadebyanelectricalcontractororsimilarlyqualiedperson.Avoidexcessiveforceduring
installation.
7.3 LOW READING DURING INSULATION BREAKDOWN TEST
• TheHNS050MDisasolidstatedevice.Thereforealowreadingmaybeobservedwhenconducting
Insulationbreakdowntestingonthecircuit.
7.4 CLEANING
• Cleanonlywithadampcloth.Donotuseabrasivesorchemicals.
8. TROUBLESHOOTING
8.1 LIGHTS DO NOT TURN ON
• Ensurethatthecircuithaspowerbycheckingthecircuitbreaker.
• Ensurethelamp(s)isnotdamagedorbroken.
• Theroommaybetoobright-theHNS050MDwillnotactivateiftheroomislight.CheckifHNS050MD
indicatorLEDlightswitchesonwhenmotionisdetected.
• EnsuretheHNS050MDiscorrectlyconnectedtothetheCabacS-ClickTimerSwitch.
• TheHNS050MDmayhavebeendamagedandneedstobereplaced.
8.2 TIMER HAS POWER BUT MOTION DETECTOR DOESN’T WORK
• Theroommaybetoobright-theHNS050MDwillnotactivateiftheroomislight.
• TheHNS050MDmightnotbeconnectedtothetimerswitchcorrectly.
• TheHNS050MDisobstructedorbeinginterferedwithbydirt,furnitureoranobject.
• Ashadowmaybecastoversensorbypersonorobject.
8.3 LIGHTS TURN ON, THEN OFF
• TheHNS050MDisretriggering.Checkthattheroomlightisnotobstructedfromtheviewofthe
HNS050MD.
• Thelightintheroommaynotbebrightenough,whichmayhappenifaperson’sshadowcastacrossthe
sensorandtheroomlightisnotbrightenough.
9. WARRANTY AND DISCLAIMER
CABACwarranttheproductagainstmanufacturingandmaterialdefectfromthedateofinvoicetotheinitial
purchaserforaperiodof12months.DuringthewarrantyperiodCABACwillreplaceproductsthatprove
tobedefectivewheretheproducthasbeencorrectlyinstalledandmaintainedandoperatedwithinthe
specicationsdenedintheproductdatasheetandwheretheproductisnotsubjecttomechanicaldamage
orchemicalattack.Thewarrantyisalsoconditionalontheunitbeinginstalledbyalicensedelectrical
contractor.Nootherwarrantyisexpressedorimplied.
CABACshallnotbeliableforanydirect,indirect,incidentalorconsequentialdamages.
