Hardware Installation for USB 2.0 PCI Card
1. Turn off the power to your computer and any other connected peripheral devices. Follow the
precautions for static electricity discharge.
2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the computer
3. Remove the computer’s cover.
4. Select an available 32-bit PCI slot for the new board.
5. Remove the selected slot bracket by unscrewing the holding screw and slide it out. Save this screw
for securing the USB 2.0 PCI card after it’s installed.
6. To install the USB 2.0 PCI card, carefully align the board’s bus connector with the selected
expansion slot on the motherboard. Push the board down firmly, but gently, until it is well seated.
7. Replace the slot bracket’s holding screw to secure the board to the rear slot panel.
8. Put back the computer’s cover.
9. Reconnect the power cord and make new connections to the ports.

Driver note: If you are installing from the included CD, the file you need to run is called
“U2v2_062.exe”. If you are installing from a download, the file is called “U2v2_1_5.exe”.
Windows XP users: please install Service Pack 1 before you install this card and software!

Driver Installation Under Win 98 / 98SE
1. Windows will detect new hardware and start
the “NEC USB Open Host Controller” driver
search program. As Figure 1. Click Next.
2. Select “Search for the best driver for your
device” in Figure 2. Click Next.
3. Put your operating system CD in the
CD-ROM. Click Next.
4. Don’t select any location and click Next. As
Figure 3
5. Select “The updated driver (Recommended)
NEC USB Open Host Controller”. As Figure
4. Click Next.

6. See Figure 5. Click Next again.
7. After installation, click Finish. As Figure 6.
8. As “NEC USB Open Host Controller” driver
search program shows up. See Figure 7. Click
Next.
9. Select “Search for the best driver for your
device (Recommended)”. Click Next. As
Figure 8 (The dialog is the same as Figure 2)

10. Don’t select any location, Click Next. See
Figure 9.
11. Select “The updated driver (Recommended)
NEC USB Open Host Controller”. As Figure
10. Click Next.
12. After installation, click Finish. As Figure 11.
13. As “PCI Universal Serial Bus” driver search
program shows up. See Figure 12. Click
Cancel.

14. Double click the “Explore” under “My
Computer” as Figure13
15. Find the file located in “G:\NEC_USB2.0 PCI
Card\PC\U2v2_062” and double click. As
Figure 14
16. Select “Yes, I want to restart my computer”
and click Close. As Figure 15
17. Check if the “NEC PCI to USB Enhanced
Host Controller” is installed. As Figure 16

1. See the welcome page,as Figure 1.Click Next
2. Select “Search for a suitable driver for my
device (recommended), as Figure 2.Click Next
3. Don’t select any location and click Next, as
Figure 3.

4. Click “Continue Anyway” As Figure 4
