3. Using the Appliance
• Placethecylinderinsidethecabinetthroughthebackofthecabinetintotheallocatedspace.
• Usethisapplianceonlyonarmlevelsurface.
• Beforeuseensurethatthedripcupisinplace.
• Makesurethegascylinderiscorrectlyttedtotheappliance.
• Ensurethecylindercontrolvalveisintheopenposition.
• Note!Allburnersarettedwithanautomaticigniter.
Tolighttheapplianceusingtheautomaticigniter,rstensurethedomeisintheopenposition.Pushinandturnthecontrolknob
inananti-clockwisedirectionuntilspringresistanceisfelt.Holdtheknobinthispositionfor3–5secondstoallowthegastoow
andthenturntheknobfullyanti-clockwisetotheHIGHposition.Thiswillcausetheautomaticlightertolighttheburner.Should
theburnernotignitethersttime,turnthecontrolknobtotheOFFpositionandwait5minutes,repeattheprocessuntiltheburner
ignites.
• Manual ignition:Tolighttheburnersmanually,rstremovethegrillplateandthedeectorplatedirectlyunderneathit.Igniteamatch
orrelighterandpositionitnexttothelefthandburner.Turnonthegassupplytothatburneronlybypushingthecontrolvalveinand
turningitinananti-clockwisedirection.Thiswillignitetheburner.Oncetheburnerisignited,carefullyreplacethedeectorplate
andcastirongrillplate.Youwillnowbeabletolighttheremainderoftheburnersasabove.
• Usethecontrolknobstoadjusttheindividualburnerameintensitytothedesiredlevelbyturningtheknobanti-clockwiseto
decreasetheameandclockwisetoincreaseit(seeFig.3).
• Afteruse,rstclosethevalveonthegascylinder.Whentheameisextinguished,closetheburnercontrolvalvesontheapplianceby
turningcontrolknobsfullyclockwise.
4. Fitting and Changing the Gas Cylinder
• Beforeconnectingtheappliancetoagascylinder,ensurethattherubbersealontheregulatorisinpositionandingoodcondition.
• Carryoutthischeckeachtimeyouttheappliancetoagascylinder(seeg.1).
• Blowoutanydustfromthecylinderopeningtopreventpossibleblockageofthejet.
• Ensurethegascylinderisttedorchangedoutdoors,awayfromanysourceofignitionsuchasnakedames,andawayfromother
people.
• Makesurethatthegascylinderiskeptuprightatalltimes.Handtightentheregulatorontothecylinderuntilitisfullyengaged.
• Ifthereisaleakonyourappliance(smellofgas),extinguishallsourcesofignitioninthevicinityoftheappliance.Ifyouwishto
checkforleaksonyourappliance,usesoapywaterwhichisappliedtothesuspectedarea.Aformationofbubbleswillindicateagas
leak.Checkthatalltheconnectionsaresecurelyttedandre-checkwithsoapywater.Ifyoucannotrectifythegasleak,donotuse
theappliance.ContactyourlocalCADACstockistforassistance.
• Whenchangingagascylinder,rstclosethecylindervalveandthentheappliancevalve,makingsuretheameisextinguishedand
unscrewtheregulator.Re-ttheregulatortoafullcylinderfollowingthesameprecautionsasdescribedabove.
• Aftertheappliancehasbeenfullyassembled,performagasleaktestbeforeoperatingtheappliance.
5. General Maintenance
• Therearenopredeterminedmaintenanceintervalsforthisappliance.
• Itisdangeroustouseanappliancewithacrackedorperishedsealand/orhose.Inspectbothsealsandhoseregularlyandreplaceif
theyarenotinorderbeforeusingtheappliance.
• Iftheappliancewasinuseitwillbehot.Allowtocoolsufcientlybeforeattemptinganymaintenance.
• CADACPatioBBQ’sarettedwithspesicCADACjetstoregulatethecorrectamountofgas.ShouldtheholeintheJetbecome
blockeditmayresultinasmallameornoameatall.DonotattempttocleantheJetwithapinorothersuchdeviceasthismay
damagethehole,whichcouldmaketheapplianceunsafe.Referto“Introduction“(Section1)forjetsizes.
5.1.Replacing a Blocked Jet
• Ensurethatthecylindervalveisclosed,thendisconnecttheappliancefromthegascylinder.
• Removethegrillplates.Removetheametamerstoexposetheburners.Removetheretainingscrewsoftheaffectedburner.
• Removetheaffectedburnerbyliftingitoutofitslocationtakingcarenottodamagethecontrolvalvewhilstdoingso.Thiswillexpose
theJet.
• UnscrewtheblockedJetwithasuitablespannerandreplaceitwithanewJet.DonotusepliersontheJetastheycancausedamage,
makingtheJetunusableorimpossibletoremove.
• Tore-assemble,reversetheaboveprocedure.DonotovertightenasthismaydamagetheJet.
5.2.Replacement of Hose
• Thehoselengthshouldnotbelessthan0.8morexceed1.2m.Checktheexpirydateonthehoseandreplacewhennecessary.Fitting
ofahoseisdescribedinSection2.OnlyanLPGhosethatcomplieswithSANS1156-2,BS3212orDIN4815maybeusedwiththis
appliance.
