drilling make sure the drill will not damage any
electrical wires routed inside the frame.)
• AligntheTrailerTongueBallwiththeholesonthe
trailertongueasshowninFigure3.Installscrews.
Step 4: Hook-up Sway Control
• Applyasmallamountofgreasetobothsway
controlballs,placesocketofslidebaroverthesway
controlballandsecurewithclip.
• TurntheOn/Offhandlecounter-clockwiseuntilthe
slidebarcaneasilyslideinthemainbody.Placethe
socketofthemainbodyontothetrailertongueball.
Secureitinplacewiththeotherclip.
• TurntheOn/Offhandleallthewayclockwise.The
threadsshouldbottomout.
• Onsomeinstallations,damagetothesway
controlmayoccurduringextremelysharpturning
maneuvers.Thiscanbecheckedbyslowlybacking
vehicleinbothdirectionsintoajackknifepositionwhilesomeoneiswatching.Makesurethattheswaycontrol
doesnothitthebumperortrailerframeandthatitdoesnotbecomefullycompressedorcomeapart.Ifanyof
thesesituationsoccurwhenjack-knifed,theswaycontrolmustberemovedwhilebackingup.
Step 5: Adjustment
• Roadandweatherconditions,loadinganddesignofthetraileraswellaspowersteering,wheelalignmentandthe
oscillationpointofthetowvehicleandtrailerallaffecttowingcharacteristics.
• Startingwiththefactorypresettension,roadtesttheswaycontrol.Ifthisisnotenoughswaycontrol,thenadjust
thebraketensionscrew¼turnclockwise.Roadtestagainandrepeat(ifnecessary)untilproperswaycontrolis
achieved.Largerorheaviertrailersorbroadsidetrailersmayrequiretheuseoftwoswaycontrols.
• Aftera1,000milebreak-inperiod,removetheslidebarandcleanitusingawirebrushorsteelwool.Theslidebar
shouldthenbecleanedevery10,000miles.
