BECAUSE OF THEIR SIZE
• Very fine particles, combustion, nanoparticules, bacteria,
virus, small spores
BECAUSE THEY CAN PENETRATE DEEP INTO THE HUMAN BODY
• Passage into the bloodstream, alveoli and to the brain
INDOOR AIR CAN BE 50
X
MORE UNSAFE THAN OUTDOOR AIR
• We breathe 15 kg of air per day
• Indoor environment can be 50 times more polluted
• We spend 90% of our time indoor
• More than 25.000.000 particles with each breath
PM1 ARE THE MOST HAZARDOUS FOR HEALTH

Camfil - Clean air solutions
The PM1 Tracker is an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) measurement device, that can be handheld or connected
to a cloud.
The nephelometric sensor gives indicative values of particules <1µm (0,5 to 1µm), recognized as the
most harmful particles to human health. It also measures Wellness parameters: temperature and relative
humidity.
Different measurement modes are available:
• PM 1ndex: IAQ index developed by Camfil and based on WHO guidelines and 50 years of indoor air
measurements.
• Realtime: Number of particles and PM1 value (mass) – Temperature – Relative Humidity
• Monitoring: this function is not activated yet
1. INTRODUCTION
The different PM1 Tracker modes are accessible via the Selection Button on the side of the unit: press
once to change between modes or hold the button 2s. to validate the mode of choice.
The Selection Button is used to select different modes, validate and select options.
In certain modes, an automatic stop of the unit is programmed, for battery savings. In order to preserve
battery life, in certain modes the unit will automatically switch off when left idle.

2. START/STOP OF THE UNIT
Hold the Selection Button for 2s. to start the PM1 Tracker.
The Main Menu appears.
Here you are able to select the different modes: PM 1ndex, Realtime
and Monitoring (this mode is only available if communications
settings are activated), Settings and Power Off of the unit.
The PM1 Tracker stops automatically if:
• PM 1ndex measurement ends and/or is idle for 20mins
• Realtime measurement launched and/or is idle for 10mins
• Monitoring mode launched and no battery charge for 2hours.
3. PM 1NDEX MODE
The PM 1ndex measurement displays the Indoor Air Quality after
15 minutes of data collection.
During this time:
• The Operational Indicator LED will blink in yellow
• After every minute, an intermediate result is displayed in the
Information Panel
A gauge at the bottom of the Information Panel indicates the
status of the test
• Hold the Selection Button to stop the measurement
• Press the Selection Button once during the measurement
process to display an intermediate result.
At the end of the test, the final result is displayed in the Information
Panel and the Operational Indicator LED will blink in green.
The result is still available for 20 minutes with a short press.
If the mode ALWAYS-ON is activated, and the unit is connected to
the main supply, the measure will start again after 10min.

• PM 1NDEX DEFINITION
The PM 1ndex will give an indication of your Indoor Air Quality and allows you to improve it.
With 50 years of experience in the Indoor Air (and data collection) industry and based on WHO* guidelines
on PM2,5 (annual mean exposition: 10 µg/m3), Camfil have defined an Air Quality Index which ranges from
1 (Very Good) to 5 (Very bad).
PM 1ndex Air Quality PM1 (µg/m3) Typical Environment
5 Very bad > 8.3 Industrial or no ventilation
4 Bad < 8.3 Bad ventilation / filtration or no filtration
3 Standard < 3.9 Standard office
2 Good < 1.4 Good ventilation and filtration
1 Very Good < 0.60 Pure air with air cleaner
Sources :
• Guideline WHO* on PM2.5: 10µg/m3
• Ambient Air Particle Mass Size Distribution defined in ISO16890: PM1 represents 70 to 80% of PM2,5 value.
• Hundreds of measurements in Indoor Environments thanks to Camfil Software: Air Image.
Note: Indoor Air Quality varies due to sources/activity/humans, etc. Always keep in mind that Indoor Air
Quality varies: PM 1ndex mode will provide a mean value for 15 minutes in order to cut off peaks and
erratic values. Don’t touch or move the unit during the PM 1ndex measurement.
4. REALTIME MODE
This mode will continuously display different parameters.
It will allow you to see the number and mass of PM1 in a particular situation. Temperature and Relative
Humidity are also displayed.
IAQ measurement: Number of particles (0,5 to 1 µm) and PM1
value in µg/m3
Wellness measurement: Temperature and Relative Humidity
• Values of Temperature and Relative Humidity are displayed continuously
• Particle counting is displayed every minute (first display after 1 minute)
• Hold button to stop measurement
• Pressing the Selection Button will allow you to switch from one screen
to the other. The measurement will go on for 10 minutes (otherwise
the measurement stops)

6. SETTINGS
Settings gives access to select: Units and Wireless.
6.1 UNITS
This menu allows the choice of temperature unit. Select between Celsius
and Fahrenheit.
6.2 WIRELESS
This menu allows to activate distant connection for the data processing.
This function is not activated yet.
6.3 ALWAYS ON
This menu allows to have the screen always on during different modes.
If the unit is connected to the main supply, the PM1 mode will restart after
10 minutes, with the screen always on.
ANNEX : BATTERY
If the unit is off, press the Selection Button once to check battery status:
• If the Operational Indicator LED blinks in green, the PM1 Tracker can
be used
• If the Operational Indicator LED blinks in red, you must charge the battery
Note: if no flash appears, charge the battery
On the Information Panel, an indication of the battery charge is displayed.
The PM1 Tracker will automatically shut down if the battery is empty.
In order to charge the battery, use the micro USB/USB cable provided in
the box, plug it into your computer or your phone charger.
In case of special charger use, check that the voltage is DC 5V and can
deliver more than 500mA.
If the battery fails and an alert icon appears at the top of the Information
Panel, please contact pm1tracker.support@camfil.com for support.
