Setting Up
Connecting the headset.
There will be two connectors attached to the headset cable: one 3-pin XLR and one 6.35mm
(1/4”) jack plug.
Connect the XLR connector to the socket market “Mic Input” on the rear of the ISDN unit.
Connect the jack plug to the socket marked “Headphone Output.”
Ensure that the “Headphone Level” control on the front panel is turned down to “0.”
Connecting the ISDN Lead
The ISDN lead has two, identical connectors fitted, one on each end.
Plug one end into the ISDN socket on the wall and the other end into the “ISDN” socket on
the rear of the unit. Ensure correct orientation and that the connectors lock into place.
Connecting the Mains lead
Finally connect the mains lead – always fit the IEC connector into the rear of the unit first and
then plug the 13A mains plug into the wall.
There is no mains switch on the unit so ensure that the supply is switched on at the wall. If all
is well then the “Power” indicator on the front of the unit will illuminate.
Operation
The studio should have been given your ISDN line number. When they call it, a buzzer will
sound from the unit. Also the ‘Line Connect Disconnect’ button on the front will flash
When this button is depressed the ringing will cease and the lamp will illuminate in a steady
state.
You are now connected to the studio.
Talk into the microphone and adjust the ‘headphone Level’ control for a comfortable sound
level.
You should be able to hear the studio taking to you.
If you feel the need to cough or clear your throat then press the ‘Cough’ button for the
duration.
After the interview
Press the ‘Line Connect Disconnect’ button again. The lamp within the button will extinguish
Switch off the mains supply at the wall.
