the painter or body shop on the specifics of how and when you can use this cover.
WARNING FOR USE IN HIGH WIND AREAS: When using this cover in high wind areas (and
for prolonged storage), use the loops and rope provided to securely pull the cover tight under
the center of the car. This should be done even if the optional lock and cable is being used.
Thecoverisnotdesignedtoreplaceagarageandshouldbecheckedforflappinginhighwinds.
If wind goes under the cover, it can cause it to work loose and come off the vehicle.
PERSONALIZEDMARKINGINSTRUCTIONS:Theapplicationoflargelettersand/ornumbers
on the side or front of the cover showing the vehicle's license plate or name(s) is one of the
best methods for protecting your cover against theft. If you choose to put identification
markings on your cover please note the following:
- DO NOT use regular or spray paint!
- DO NOT use laundry markers or “permanent” type Magic markers.
- DO NOT use any type of felt-tip pen or marker.
The only type of marking paint that is acceptable for use on this material is a permanent type
fabric/T-shirt paint. This paint is readily available in a variety of colors at most fabric and art
supplystores. Followthemanufacturer'sinstructions. Youmayneedtousemorethanasingle

WARNING - Markers and regular paint will not adhere to the fabric and can transfer their color
onto the vehicle finish.
HAZING OF WINDOWS AND PAINT: Airborne pollutants may be deposited on the windows
or paint while a vehicle is being driven or when parked uncovered. These deposits may
become smeared and create a haze when the cover is used. The haze can be wiped off with
a damp cloth or washed off with water.

Your new WeatherShield® cover is manufactured with a durable fabric, finished
with the patented Nextec® encapsulation process. The material provides a high
degree of protection against all weather conditions, dust, birds and tree droppings,
pollutants and salt air, while remaining breathable and soft against any fine paint
finish. It's light weight, easy to handle, and compact to take up minimum storage
space. Best of all, it can be easily cleaned in most home washing machines and
dryers.

“front” to help in positioning the cover on the vehicle (see Fig. A). If your cover is
equipped with mirror pockets (most late-model custom-fit patterns only), it is very
important thatthe mirror pockets beplaced over the side mirrors before the ends
of the cover are stretched over the front and rear bumpers.
Some vehicles have very sharp bumpers, hood ornaments, moldings, etc. We
recommend that you reinforce the inside of the cover at areas exposed to severe
abrasion using cloth-reinforced duct tape or Mystic brand tape which may be
purchased at hardware, plumbing or automotive stores. This will help extend the
use of your WeatherShield cover.

positioned. Using a sharp pencil, punch a hole through the fabric at the antenna
location. Be careful to avoid hitting the vehicle finish with the pencil. If the antenna
is not easily removed, see procedure #2.
2) Place the cover on the vehicle except for the fender or body panel where the
antenna is located. For example, if the antenna is located on the front fender on
the passenger side, roll or fold the cover away from the antenna and cover all the
remainingareaofthe vehicle. (Do not attempt to place the coveroverthetopofthe
antenna.) Center the cover, align both seams with the roof edges and be sure the
cover is pulled down evenly over the front and rear bumpers. Carefully unfold the
portion of the cover that is next to the antenna and position it next to the base of the
antenna. Rechecktheoverallpositioningofthecovertomakesureithasnotmoved
on the vehicle. Make sure the cover lies flat over the hood and roof areas of the
vehicle. Mark the cover with the location of the antenna base and make a hole with
a sharp pencil. When installing the cover, remember to place it over the antenna
before putting the mirror pockets over the mirrors.
REMOVAL
The following procedure will make it easier to remove and install the cover
whenever it is used.
1) Release both ends of the cover from under the bumpers.
CLEANINGANDWASHINGINSTRUCTIONS
Any cover will slowly collect dust on its underside, picked up from contact with the
surfaceofthevehicle. Mostcar-modelWeatherShieldcoversmaybewashedusing
a home-type washing machine and dryer, but larger commercial machines work
best due to the extra volume of water used for washing and rinsing.
NOTE - Dirt on the cover's surface will degrade its ability to repel water. This
condition is termed "wet-out". If you notice a deterioration in the performance of
your cover, please wash it first according to the following instructions.
UseapowdertypedetergentWITHOUTbleach. ThedetergentMUSTbecompletely
dissolved in the water, before the washing process begins. Wash cover using

WATER! Run cover through two or more rinse cycles - it is important that all the
detergent be removed. The cover can be dried in most home dryers. Use the
"Permanent Press" settings. DO NOT use fabric softener. You may need to "fluff"
thecoverinthedryertoassureallsurfacesaredry. Whenthecoverfeelscompletely
dry,continuedrying the fabricforanadditional20 to 30 minutes. Thisactuallyhelps
revitalize the fabric encapsulation polymers.
Extensive testing by the Nextec Labs has identified three key cleaning points:
1 - Be sure the detergent is pre-dissolved in the wash water.
2 - The detergent must be rinsed thoroughly from the fabric (2 or 3 rinse cycles).
3 - Longer drying times equate to better performance.
Another way to clean the dust from either the inside or outside of the cover is to put
it on the vehicle and hose it off. To clean the inside, put the cover on the vehicle
inside-out(thiscanonlybedoneifyoudonothaveanexternalantenna). Afterrinsing
off the cover, leave it on the vehicle to dry. Then fold it and return it to the trunk or
usual storage place.
If the cover becomes soiled in a few spots, light brushing with a soft rag will remove
most dirt. For persistent soils:
1) Wet the soiled area with water.
2) Wash with a mix of water and powder detergent, working the lather
into the soiled area using a sponge.
3) Rinse thoroughly with water to remove all detergent residue.
4) Air dry completely.
OPTIONALLOCKINGDEVICE
Your new cover is equipped with plastic (non-scratch) grommets, reinforced into
the bottom edge on both sides of the cover. A plastic-coated, steel cable with
padlock and keys is available to lock through the grommets and secure the cover
to the vehicle. Consult your dealer for availability.
An added theft deterrent is the application of large letters on the sides of the cover.

thief. (Note - see warning for use of ink and markers)
2) Fold up both sides onto the top of the vehicle into a long pile approximately 2 feet
(60 cm) wide. (See Fig.B)
3)Start at the front ofthevehicle and fold the coverin three foot (1 meter)foldsfrom
the front to the back.

If you use the same procedure each time, you will find it only takes about a minute
to install or to remove the cover.
The elastic at each end of the cover will keep it in place under all normal conditions.
Use care in installing the cover on a car which has just been driven, to be sure any
hot exhaust pipes are given a few minutes to cool.
