1. Getting started
2. Care and Maintenance
BATTERY INSTALLATION (see figure 2):
Hold the unit with the bottom facing up and the narrow end away from you. Place your thumbs on either
side of the magnet and push forward. The battery cover will loosen. Lift off and place 2 “AA” batteries in the
compartment with the correct polarity shown in the diagram within each compartment. Replace the cover.
Never mix batteries of different types or mix old and new batteries. Replace both batteries at the same time.
• If the Tornado Tin Opener slows during cutting, this may indicate a low battery level and the batteries should
be replaced.
• You can use a clean damp cloth or a sponge to wipe the surface of the Tin Opener but do not wash it under
running water or other liquids. Do not use solvents and abrasives when cleaning.

4. Using the Tornado Tin Opener
1. If the batteries are depleted and the Tin Opener is still on the can, you will not be able to remove it by
pressing the button. In this case, you will need to replace the batteries.
2. The magnet in the centre of the Tin Opener will often pick up the can lid and remove it. If the magnet doesn’t
hold, you may need to carefully lift the lid off by hand.
3. If the opener stops during use, (it has not released the can, and the reverse button does not work), a
screwdriver may be inserted in the release screw and slowly turned counter-clockwise until the cutting blade
retracts.
4. The opener is meant only for smooth round cans. Cans with bumps, dents or squared corners may cause it to
jam. Not meant for use on rimless cans.
NOTE: The blade cuts around the lid will be very fine and may not be immediately obvious.
• Read all instructions carefully before using your Tin Opener; save these instructions for future reference.
• Tin Opener is not intended to be used by children.
• DO NOT use to open pressurised (aerosol-type) cans.
• DO NOT use to open cans of flammable liquids such as lighter fluids.
• Make sure the motor has stopped completely before opening up the battery door for battery replacement.
• Avoid contact with moving parts. Keep hands, hair, jewellery, clothing etc. away from moving parts during operation
to prevent injury and/or damage to the Tin Opener.
• To maintain your Tin Opener at its optimal condition DO NOT immerse it in water or any other liquids. Please see
Care and Maintenance section for cleaning instructions.
• Before cleaning cutter, remove batteries to avoid accidentally turning unit on.
• DO NOT try to adjust or remove the cutter screw.
• Keep fingers away from cutter at all times. Remember lids may be sharp after cutting, so take care when handling.
Note: This Tornado Tin Opener is intended for household use only.
The packaging manual can be recycled. Please dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner and take it to a
recycling centre.
If you wish to dispose of this equipment at any point, please also do so in an environmentally friendly manner.
It should not be disposed of alongside general household waste. Instead, please take it to a recycling point for
electrical goods. Your local council will be able to advise you further.
Batteries should not be thrown away in household waste. Please ensure that you always dispose of batteries only
when they are empty. Your local council will be able to advise you further.
1. Operate voltage: DC6V
2. Battery: 2 x AA alkaline or rechargeable batteries (not included)
1. Please put the edge of the tin in between the blade and the gear. If the blade and cutter are engaged, carefully
press and hold the reset button until the motor stops. (Fig 3)
2. Push Tin Opener down fully on the tin without any space in between them. (Fig. 4)
3. With the tin on a flat surface, press the start button for about one second and release the Tin Opener when it
starts to cut the can. (Fig. 5)
4. When finished, lift the opener off the can. Carefully remove the lid from the magnet and discard (Fig. 6)
5. If the can is not completely opened push the start button again. (Fig. 7)
