Skid Steer
Requirements
Your Extreme Brush Cuer should only
be used on a skid steer with a li
capacity of at least 1500 lbs. and with a
weight of at least 6000# with the
bucket removed. A skid steer equipped
with tracks will provide superior
stability in this applicaon.
The availability and capability of a
high-flow system on your skid steer
loader may determine which model
Extreme Brush Cuer will work best
for you.
To protect the operator from any flying
debris, it is important that the skid
steer should be equipped with a
thermoplasc polycarbonate
windshield or similar material, and
similar protecon on the sides of the
operator’s cab.
Make sure your
skid steer is in good working
condion. Follow the operang

1.
With the skid steer engine RPMs
just above idle, slowly engage the
auxiliary hydraulic flow to the
cuer head. Use your machine’s
auxiliary hydraulic flow lever or
switch, acvate the auxiliary flow
to the brush cuer.
2.
Allow the cuer to run for 30
seconds to purge the air from the
system. Turn off the cuer drive,
allowing it to come to a complete
stop.
3.
Lower the cuer aachment to
the ground and shut off the skid
steer’s engine and exit the
operator’s compartment.
4.
5.
Check the skid steers hydraulic oil
level, and add oil if necessary.
Inspect the cuer hydraulic plumbing
for any noceable leaks. Correct these
leaks before connuing.
6.
Restart the skid steer. With the
aachment raised off the ground and
the engine throle set just above idle,
engage the cuer drive circuit to start
cuer. Allow cuer to come up to
speed before increasing engine speed.
Engage the cuer drive hydraulics with
the prime mover’s engine at a low
rpm. Slowly raise the skid steer
engine’s rpm to the correct and
desired cuer speed. Use the skid
steer’s hand throle to set the speed;
never use a foot throle when using
the cuer.
Starng the Cuer
Moving or
engaging the cuer with by standers
in the area could result in Death or
Serious Injury. Before engaging cuer
hydraulics, always make sure the area
is clear of bystanders.
If the cuer ever
creates a vibraon when ramping up
speed, turn the cuer aachment to
the off posion and invesgate cause.
Refer to the Troubleshoong secon
in this manual.
Stopping the Cuer
Geng Familiar with
the Aachment
Before starng the skid steer engine
with this cuer aached, make sure
you are knowledgeable and
comfortable with the operaon of the
brush cuer controls as outlined in the
previous and following secons of this
manual.
When stopping the cuer, raise the
cuer slightly and lower the skid
steer’s engine RPMs to an idle, and
allow the cuer to slow down. Aer
the cuer has slowed down you may
turn the auxiliary hydraulics to the
“off” posion.
Never operate the
cuer when bystanders are within 75’
(23 m) of your work area. Flying
debris could result in Death or Serious
Injury.
Be cauous when
operang on un-level ground
surfaces. A machine roll over could
result in Minor or Serious Injury.
Always wear your seat belt when
operang this type of machinery.
When operang the cuer, set the skid
steer throle at a speed that will
produce the required flow. Refer to
your skid steer manual or call your
local skid steer dealer for addional
help, if necessary. Your skid steer
dealer can measure the flow available
on your machine and recommend a

throle seng that is compable with
this aachment.
To begin with, learn what the cuer
head looks like in a level cung
posion when you are seated in the
skid steer. Knowing what a level cuer
head looks like will help you avoid
damage to the cung blades by
cung too close to the ground
surface.
The correct ground speed for cung
with this aachment can be monitored
by sound andfeel and depends on the
material density. If the skid steer
engine is bogging down or if the cuer
speed is turning too slow because of too
much load, the ground speed
should be decreased.
Determine a safe cung paern
before the start of the cut. Stop the
forward progress of the skid steer
loader.
Do not enter into an area to be cut
before the cuer rotaon come up to
the operang speed.
Inspect the area to be cut and make
sure it is free of any ulies, rocks,
fence posts, or any other objects that
you do not want to cut or that would
damage the cuer.
Use the skid steer loader li to adjust
the elevaon of the cuer. The fore &
a leveling can be accomplished by
using the skid steer’s aachment lt
cylinders.
Always be aware of your surroundings.
While watching the cuer, also pay
aenon to what obstacles or terrain
are in front of the cuer and prime
mover’s wheels. Maintain a safe speed
while cung.
Listen and feel for any strange
vibraon when working the cuer. A
bad vibraon felt when cung could
indicate a damaged cung blade, or
material trying to be cut at too fast a
pace. Slow down the skid steers
ground speed to see if vibraon stops.
If it does not, stop the cuer, turn off
the skid steer engine and invesgate
cause of vibraon. Refer to the
Troubleshoong secon in this manual
for further instrucons.
Cung tree
branches with the cuer in an
elevated posion could result in Death
or Serious Injury if the skid steer
becomes unstable. Never raise the

ground when working on slopes or uneven
terrain.

dense or heavy material, you may
want to adjust the level of the cuer
deck so the front of the cuer is
approximately 1” (25mm) lower than
the back of the cuer. This will assist
the processing of the material and will
avoid material “balling” under the
deck.
Use care when
operang on uneven terrain or any
type of sloped surface. Keep your
cuer low to the ground when
working in these condions to avoid a
roll over that could result in Minor or
Serious Injury.
Before Cung

Cung Tips
Never operate
this aachment when bystanders are in
proximity of the work area that could
result in Minor or Serious Injury from
flying debris.
1.
Always inspect work area before
starng the cuer. Locate and
mark any ulies, steel posts,
rocks or any other objects that
could be damaged or would
damage the cuer during
operaon. Never assume the
work area is safe and never skip
the inspecon part before start of
operaon.
2.
Operate at a safe slow-paced
speed that will allow you to watch
the area ahead of the cuer &
loader.
3.
Make sure you are operang the
skid steer’s engine at an rpm that
will produce the volume of oil
flow required for this aachment.
4.
Raise the rear of the brush cuer
approximately 4” (102 mm) above
ground level. The deck should be
slightly sloping downward away
from the operator.
5.
Your rotary brush cuer is
capable of cung and mulching
small trees and other vegetaon
of up to 7” in diameter.
Learn and realize which way the
tree is likely to fall so it does not
end up crashing onto you in the
skid steer.
Cung Ground Level Vegetaon
Cung Above Ground Level Vegetaon
Do not operate
the cuer if you (the operator) can see
the cuer blade. If the operator can
see the cuer blade, the back of the
cuer is raised TOO HIGH and should
be lowered to avoid debris being
thrown back at the operator and
causing Minor or Serious Injury.
6.
Tilt the front of the deck
approximately 1 to 2 feet above
ground level, but do not raise the
rear of the deck. Drive slowly into
the vegetaon and use the
hydraulic lt to bend or push the
vegetaon forward. Allow the
cuer blade to cut the vegetaon.
Lower the front of the deck as you
connue to mulch the material.
Back drag the cuer to further
minimize the size of the debris.
7.
If the cuer speed slows down,
reduce your travel speed and
allow cuer to reach the proper
rotang speed. Mowing too fast
in thick material could result in
balling of material underneath the
cuer deck resulng in a loss of
cung efficiency.
8.
Never use your cuer to push,
pull, li or move any type of
object or vehicle. Do not use this
aachment to “push” down trees
without the cuer being used.
9.
Always allow cuer to come up to
operang speed before moving
aachment into the material you
want to cut.
