CATLER RECOMMENDS SAFETY FIRST
We understand the importance of safety and that’swhy we put your safety first from the
initial design concept to the production itself. Nevertheless, please be careful and follow the
instructions below when using this appliance.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR
USING YOUR TS 4013/TS 4014 TOASTER
• This appliance may be used by children 8 years
of age and older and by persons with physical
or mental impairments or by inexperienced
persons, if they are properly supervised or
have been informed about how to use of the
product in asafe manner and understand the
potential dangers.
• Children must not play with the appliance.
• User cleaning and maintenance must not be
performed by children unless they are older
than 8 years of age and work under supervision.
• Children under 8 years of age must be kept
away from the appliance and its power cord.
• If the power cord is damaged, ask the
authorised service for areplacement in order
to prevent hazards. It is forbidden to use the
appliance with the power cord damaged.

• As bread may catch fire, do not use this
appliance in the vicinity of or under flammable
materials such as curtains, drapes etc.
• Before using the appliance for the first time,
please remove all packaging and ad stickers
and discard them in an environmentally safe
manner. Check the appliance for any defects.
Under no circumstances should you use
adamaged appliance or an appliance with
adamaged power cord etc.
• Before operating your appliance, please read
all the instructions carefully and store them in
asafe place for possible future use.
• To eliminate the risk of small children
suffocating, remove the protective cover of the
power plug from this appliance and dispose of
it safely.
• Before first use, make sure that the voltage in
your power socket matches the nameplate
voltage at the unit bottom. In case of any
doubt, please contact aqualified electrician.
• Do not operate the appliance on the edge of
adesktop or atable. Make sure that the surface
is flat, clean and free of water or other liquid
stains.

• Do not place the appliance on agas or electric
stove or near it or in alocation where it could
come into contact with ahot oven.
• Do not use the appliance on ametal pad such
as adrip sink.
• Before connecting your appliance to apower
outlet and turning it on, make sure it’sfully and
correctly assembled. Follow the instructions
provided in this user'smanual.
• During the appliance use, it’srequired that
sufficient area for air circulation above the
appliance and on all its sides should be
provided.
• Make sure the appliance is place on aflat,
clean, dry and stable and heat-resistant surface.
Do not operate the appliance on an inclined
surface and do not move and/or handle it in
any manner during operation. Do not operate
the appliance on asurface with cloth, near the
curtains or other flammable materials.
• If the appliance is covered by or touches
flammable materials like curtains, draperies,
walls etc. during operation, this may lead to
ignition.

• Curtains or other flammable materials may
ignite if located near or over the appliance.
• Do not allow the appliance’shot surfaces to
come into contact with kitchen desktop or
table.
• Do not use the appliance under an upper
kitchen cupboard.
• Make sure to provide aminimum clearance
of 10cm from surrounding objects and
20cm above the appliance to guarantee safe
operation.
• It is not recommended to place the appliance
in confined spaces.
• Use only accessories provided with the
appliance. Otherwise, there is arisk of fire,
electric shock or injury.
• Never turn the appliance on if the appliance
itself or some of its accessories are damaged.
• Do not put any part of the appliance in agas,
electric or microwave oven or on ahot gas or
electric range.
• Aconnected power outlet must be easily
accessible for possible sudden disconnection.

• Do not use this appliance with aprogrammable
switch, timer switch or any other device that
automatically switches the appliance on.
• Do not use the appliance near water sources
like akitchen sink, bathroom, swimming pool
etc.
• Do not touch the appliance with wet or damp
hands.
• Do not leave the appliance unattended while in
operation.
• The appliance surface gets warm and may
become very hot during operation. Do not
touch hot surfaces. There arisk of burning is
case of wrong handling. Pay close attention if
children or animals move around the appliance.
• Do not put big pieces of pastry, pastry packed
in aluminium foil or other protective cover as
well as kitchen utensils in the appliance.
In such case, there is arisk of short-circuiting
the appliance, fire or electric shock.
• If the pastry gets jammed inside the appliance,
first unplug the power cord from the mains
socket and only then remove the jammed piece
of pastry from the appliance.

• To turn the appliance off, please use the STOP
button.
• If the appliance is to be left unused, before
moving, removing bread or cleaning, always
unplug the power cord from the mains socket.
Allow the appliance to cool down completely
before cleaning and storing.
• Avoid spilling water or other fluid onto the
mains cord and plug.
• Do not use rough abrasive or caustic detergents
to clean the appliance.
• Keep your appliance clean. Follow the cleaning
instructions provided in this user'smanual.
•
Do not store or use any explosive and/or
flammable substances inside or in the vicinity of
this appliance, such as flammable gas sprays.
• To disconnect the appliance from the power
outlet, always hold the cord plug, not the cord
itself while pulling.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR
USING ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
• Fully unwind the power cord before use.
• Do not leave the power cord hanging over the
edge of atable or countertop or allow it to
touch ahot surface or to become tangled up.
• For safety reasons, we recommend to connect
the appliance in an independent electrical
circuit separated from other appliances. Do
not use adapter plugs or extension cords to
connect the appliance to apower outlet.
• Do not submerge the appliance, power cord or
plug in water or any other liquid.
• We recommend that you inspect the appliance
regularly. Do not use the appliance if it is
damaged in any way, if it malfunctions or if the
power cord or plug is defective. All repairs or
adjustments must be performed at the nearest
Catler authorised service centre.
• This appliance is designed for household
use only. This appliance is not designed for
commercial use. Do not use this appliance
in moving vehicles or on boats, outdoors,
or for any purpose other than it’sintended.
Otherwise, there is arisk of personal injury.

• Any maintenance other than standard cleaning
must be performed at authorised Catler service
centre.
• We recommend to install aresidual current
device (standard safety switches in your power
outlet) to provide ahigher level of protection
when using the appliance. We recommend to
install aresidual current device (with anominal
residual operating current of no more than
30mA) in the electric circuit in which your
appliance is to be connected. For further expert
advise, please contact your electrician.
• Keep this appliance and its power cord out of
children.

BEFORE FIRST USE
Unpack the appliance and its accessories.
Before environmental disposal of the
packaging, make sure you have removed all
parts and accessories from the package.
Check the appliance and all the accessories
for damage. Never use adamaged appliance
and/or appliance with damaged accessories,
damaged power cord or plug.
Before rst use, wipe the appliance with
asoft sponge slightly moistened in warm
water.
Turn the appliance on with the highest
toasting level without any pastry inserted.
You may notice slight smoke coming from
the openings or light smell. This is anormal
event which disappears during use.
WARNING!
Never submerge the
appliance in water
or in any other
liquid.
WARNING!
NEVER ATTEMPT TO
REMOVE JAMMED
PASTRY WITH
AKNIFE OR OTHER
TOOL WHILE THE
APPLIANCE IS STILL
CONNECTED TO THE
MAINS. THIS COULD
LEAD NOT ONLY
TO THE APPLIANCE
DAMAGE, BUT ALSO
TO AN ELECTRIC
SHOCK. ALWAYS
DISCONNECT THE

FROM THE POWER

USING
PASTRY TOASTING
1.
Place the appliance of aat adry surface.
Make sure the crumb tray is properly
installed in the appliance body.
2. Insert the mains cord plug into apower
socket.
3. Insert bread, English pancakes or other
pastry you wish to toast in the openings.
Thanks to extra wide and long openings
you will be able to toast even bigger
bread slices.
4. Turn the rotary knob to set the toasting
level: 1 (lightest) to 9 (darkest). When
the appliance is used for the rst time,
it’srecommended to use level 4.

Push the control lever down until it’sxed
in the lower position. The toasting
process will start automatically. The
toasting time will be set automatically
according to the selected toasting level.
6. As soon as the toasting process is
nished, the appliance will turn o and
the pastry is lifted automatically. You can
stop the toasting process immediately at
any time by pressing the STOP button.
DEFROST FUNCTION
The defrost function is designed to unfreeze
and toast the pastry.
1. Inset the pastry to be defrosted and
toasted in the openings.
2. Turn rotary knob to set the toasting level.
3. Push the control lever down until
it’sxed in the lower position.
4. Press the Defrost button. Button LED
backlighting will ligh up to indicate the
function to be active.
5. As soon as the defrosting and toasting
process is nished, the appliance will turn
o and the pastry is lifted automatically.
You can stop the toasting process
immediately at any time by pressing the
STOP button.
HEATING FUNCTION
The heating function is designed to warm up
pastry without toasting.
1. Inset the pastry to be warmed up in the
openings.
2. Push the control lever down until
it’sxed in the lower position.
3. Press the Reheat button. Button LED
backlighting will ligh up to indicate the
function to be active.
4. As soon as the warming-up process is
nished, the appliance will turn o and
the pastry is lifted automatically. You can
stop the toasting process immediately at
any time by pressing the STOP button.
BAGEL FUNCTION
This function is suitable for toasting thicker
slices of pasty such as bagels, baguettes,
muns etc.
1. Inset the pastry to be toasted in the
openings.
2. Push the control lever down until
it’sxed in the lower position.
3. Press the Bagel button. Button LED
backlighting will ligh up to indicate the
function to be active.
4. As soon as the toasting process is
nished, the appliance will turn o and
the pastry is lifted automatically. You can
stop the toasting process immediately at
any time by pressing the STOP button.

TIPS AND TRICKS
The toasting level depends on the water
amount in the pastry as well as your personal
taste. We recommend to set alower toasting
level and then make an adjustment.
For thin pastry slices, we recommend to set
alower toasting level while for thicker slices,
we recommend to set ahigher toasting level
or use the Bagel function.
For fresh or wholegrain pastry, it’ssuitable to
use ahigher toasting level.
If you are about to toast sweet pastry, such
as with raisins or nuts, we recommend to
remove loose or cut pieces from the slice.
This will prevent them from burning or
getting jammed in the appliance.
Please half bagels, baguettes or muns in
two equal halves if possible before toasting.
Both halves will be toasted uniformly then.
Please always insert the pastry in the
opening centre to ensure uniform toasting.
Be very careful during the consumption
if toasting stued pastry. The lling may
warm faster and to ahigher degree than the
pastry surface. Do not leave the appliance
unattended if warming such pastry.
Do not use force when inserting or removing
the pastry.
Do not insert pastry with butter, spread
etc., pastry with leaking lling, frozen pastry
with pieces of ice etc. This could result in the
appliance short-circuit and electric shock.

CARE AND CLEANING
Before cleaning the appliance, always make
sure that it’scooled down completely and
the power plug is disconnected from the
mains socket.
WARNING!
Do not immerse the
appliance, power
cord or plug in
water or any other
liquid.
To clean the outer
jacket, do not
use wire brushes,
abrasive cleaners,
petrol, thinners or
similar substances
that could scratch
or irreparably
deteriorate the
surface.
Wipe the appliance outer jacket with asoft
sponge slightly moistened in warm water.
CLEANING THE CRUMB TRAY
1. The crumb tray is located at the
appliance bottom.
2. To clean the crumbles, draw out the tray,
empty it and then insert back for further
use. Or you can wipe it with adry cloth.
NOTE
The tray should be cleaned on regular
basis. Avoid excessive gathering of
crumbles in the tray.
To clean the interior, turn the appliance
upside down over asink or alitter bin and
shake to remove the bakery leftovers.

INSERTED.
STORAGE
Before storing, always turn your appliance
o, disconnect from the mains and allow to
cool down. Store your toaster in ahorizontal
position in adry and well-ventilated place.
Do not place any objects on the appliance.
