Gas Detector Safety Precautions
1. Never ignore a high alarm condition. This gas detector is designed to detect
hazardousatmosphericconditions.Anindicationoflifethreateninghazardsshould
be taken seriously.
2. Turn on, and allow theunit to warm up, BEFORE entering the area when gases
are to be detected.
3. High or off-scale readings may indicate a flammable gas concentration.
4. Before entering an area for testing, make a test of the unit in a safe area with a
smallamountofknown gas from acontainer.Thentestagainwithcleanair.The
readingshouldreturntozeros.
5. Where a high or alarm condition is detected, evacuate the affected area and
contactthelocalfiredepartment,gascompany,orotherproper authoritiesfrom
outsidetheaffected area. Without switchingon any electrical devices, properly
ventilatetheareabeforereenteringandretest.
6. Do not store or use this device in or around corrosive gases.
7. Do not drop this device. Damage will occur to the internal components.
8. Charge batteries and switch unit on or off only in a nonhazardous atmo-
spheric location.
9. Some vapor compounds may affect the operation of the sensor. Always use
your sense of smell to supplement the readings of the meter. If your sense
of smell detects gas that the meter does not, get the meter calibrated im-
intended.Donotmodifythistool and do not use thistoolforapurposeforwhich
it was not intended.
6. Check fordamagedparts. Beforeusinganytool,anypartthatappearsdamaged
shouldbecarefullycheckedtodetermine thatitwill operateproperlyand perform
its intended function.Any part that is damaged should be properly repaired or
replacedbya qualified technician. Donotusethe tool ifanyswitchdoesnot turn
OnandOffproperly.
7. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical
replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Only use
accessoriesintendedforusewiththistool. Approved accessories are available
fromHarborFreightTools.
8. Donotoperate toolifunder the influenceof alcohol ordrugs. Read warning
labels if taking prescription medicine to determine if your judgment or reflexes
are impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not operate the tool.
9. Maintenance. For your safety, service and maintenance should be performed
regularlybyaqualifiedtechnician.
