instrument.IftheBlanketTrackerisnotusedandhandledaccordingtothismanual,

Securityinformation
Thisinstrumentshouldbehandledbyqualifiedandauthorizedpersonnelonly.
Itismandatorytofollowallsecurityandotherroutinesthatapplyatsitewhen
usingtheBlanketTrackerintanksandbasins.
WithinEUitisprohibitedtodisposeofelectricandelectronicwasteinregular
wasteasthesemaycontainharmfulsubstances.Allelectricandelectronicwaste
mustbesortedandleftforrecycling.SuchproductsarelabeledwithanX‐marked
wastebin.Itisimportantthateveryonecooperateinordertosecureahighlevelwhenit
comestorecyclingandhelptosaveourenvironment.Ifsuchwastenotishandledand
recycledaccordingtoregulation(ECDirective2002/96/EC)theenvironmentaswellas
people’shealthmaybejeopardized.
Descriptionofthefunction
BlanketTrackerisaportableopticalsuspendedsolidsmeterdesignedtomeasure
sludgeblanketdepthandsuspendedsolidsinclarifiers,thickeners,aerationbasins,etc.
inwaterandwastewaterplants,aswellinotherfacilities.Itispossibletodisplay
measuredvaluesastextorasagraphicimageofthesludgeprofile.Twodifferentalarm
levelsforthesludgeblanketmaybesettoindicatefluffandsludgeblanketlevels.These
maybedisplayednexttothegraphicsludgeprofile.
MeasurementFunctions
TheBlanketTrackerisabletostoreupto250measurementsasagraphicprofile,each
withinformationabouttime,date,location,thatmaybenamedbytheuser(maximum
10characterse.g.Clarifier2;Thickener5,etc.)Eachprofilealsocontainsdataabout
blanketandfluffdepthsthatappliedforthespecificmeasurement.
Sensorbody
Thesensorbodycontainsopticsandelectronicsthatshouldnotbeexposedto
mechanicalabuseorhightemperatures.Ifthesensorbodyhasmechanicaldamages,
watermaypenetrateintothesensoranddestroytheelectronicsandoptics.Pleasesee
sectionMaintenanceformoreinformation.

GettingstartedwiththeBlanketTracker
StarttheBlanketTrackerbypressingthebuttonmarked .ToswitchOFF/ONthe
unit,pressthesamebutton.Theunitwilldoanatmosphericpressurecompensationat
start‐upandmeasurementwillstartautomatically.Valuesforsludgeconcentrationand
deptharedisplayedincleartextandrealtime.Iftheunitisnotactiveduringaneight
minuteperiodthenitwillautomaticallybeturnoffwithoutsavingthemeasurements.
Inordertogetcorrectscalingofthedepthrangeinprofilerangeshownonthedisplay,
thenitisnecessarytosetthemaximaldepthattheactualmeasuringposition.

AtdeliverytheBlanketTrackerispresetwiththefollowingvalues;Fluff(1000mg/l)and
SludgeBlanket(5000mg/l).Usingthesevalues,itispossibletoinstantlystartto
measureandgetapictureofthesludgeprofile.Tochangethesettingspleasesee
Threshold1forFluffandThreshold2forSludgeBlanket.

TheBlanketTrackerisdesignedtoreducethemanualmaintenancetoaminimum.All
metalpartsarestainlesssteel(SS2343/SS316).TheenclosureisIP67/NEMA6(water
proof)inordertowithstandwaterflushingwhencleaning.Thesensorcableisa
speciallymanufacturedPUR™withastrongshieldandextraheavywirestowithstand
mechanicalwearforalonglife.Thesensorandenclosurecablefittingsarehighquality
MatchClamp™toensureawaterproofconnectionevenshouldtheoutershieldbe
damaged.
Inspectionofthesensor
Thesensorheadshouldbecleanedifanysolidsorfoulingofthemeasuringwindows
occurs.Inordertoverifythenecessityofcleaning,placethesensorinclean,de‐aerated
waterandreadthedisplayvalue.Thevalueshouldnotdiffermorethan±100mg/lfrom
zero.Ifthevalueisoffthecleaningisrequired,anewzerocalibrationmaybe
performed.SeesectionCalibration.
Inordertoverifyifadepthcalibrationisneeded,lowerthesensorintowateruntilthe
onemetercablemark.Thedepthvalueshouldnotdiffermorethan±2cm(±1”).Ahigher
deviationrequiresazeroandonemetercalibration,seesectionCalibration.
Whencleaningthesensor,itispreferredtousetheCerlicSensorCleaning(CSC)liquid.
Itisalsopossibletouseasoftclothandwater.Payattentionnottoscratchthe
measuringwindowsordamagethebuiltinpressuresensor.
ChangingofBatteries
Cerlic Blanket Tracker is supplied with four AA batteries, placed inside the unit. To change
the batteries, follow the steps below;
1.Openthebackpartofthehandleontheenclosure.Thispartisa
combinedbatterylidandcablewinder.Thisisdonebyremovingthetwo
screwscountersunkintothebackoftheenclosure,seefig20.Donot
removethescrewholdingthecablewinder.
2.Removethebatterylidandreplacethebatteries.Makesuretofollowthe
labelshowingthepolarity(+/‐).
3.Remountthebatterylid.
4.Mountthebackofthehandlecontainingthebatterylidbytighteningthe
screws.Itisimportanttomakesurethelidiswellclosedwithnovisible
gapsorcablesbetweenthehousingandlid.

Troubleshooting
Checkthatthebatteriesareingoodcondition.TheBlanketTrackerhasabuiltinlogicto
increasethebatterylife.Ifthebatteryvoltagegoesbelowacertainlevel,thenthe
softwarewillblockthefollowingfunctions;displaybacklight,acousticandvibration
signals.
IftheBlanketTrackervaluesfordepthandconcentrationshoulddeviate,anew
calibrationfordepthand/orconcentration.PleaseseesectionCalibrationfor
instructions.
Incaseofanymalfunctionthatisnotpossibletocorrectwithanewcalibration,please
contactCerlicoralocalCerlicrepresentative.IncaseofsendingtheBlanketTrackerto
Cerlicforcheckuporrepair,pleasemakesuretousetheformforReturnofMaterial
