Microphone installation guide for Profile Series with Codec C40 and C20
78-19808-02 Profile C40-C20 Microphone Installation Sheet | September 2011 | © 2010-2011 Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved.
Using one or two microphones
Profile systems with Codec C40 and C20 are shipped with two microphones.
Normally a single microphone should suffice to serve all the participants, as
shown in room setup A to the right.
However, if this is not the case you will need to use two microphones, as
shown in room setup B. You must then make sure the microphones are spaced
sufficiently apart to avoid that the sound of the first microphone suffers from
interference from the second microphone.
How to place the two microphones
As a rule of thumb: The second microphone should be placed three times
or longer away from a participant (MIC 2 - distance 3x) compared to the
microphone closest to that participant (MIC 1 - distance x). This is the case for
all participants.
If you cannot fulfill the requirement you might not need the second microphone
in the first place. Instead, inspect the site to ensure that all participants have
eye contact with the microphone when using the system.
Installing the microphones
Place the microphones on the table and lead the cables toward the rear side
of the Profile system.
Open the rear door in the base module and locate the microphone connectors
on the codec. Connect the microphone cables as shown on the next page.
User documentation
User documentation is available on the Cisco web site.
