NVR pre-installation
This NVR is highly advanced surveillance equipment that should be installed with
care. Please take into consideration the following precautionary steps before
installation of the NVR.
 Keep all liquids away from the NVR.
 Install the NVR in a well-ventilated and dust-free area.
 Ensure environmental conditions meet factory specifications.
 Install a manufacturer recommended HDD.

1 X optical mouse
1 X remote control
3 X SATA hard drive cables (2 short, 1 long)
16 X mounting screws
2 X rack mount ears
NVR installation
When installing the NVR:
 Use brackets for rack mounting.
 Ensure that there is ample room for audio and video cables.
 When routing cables, ensure that the bend radius of the cables is no less than
five times the diameter.
 Connect the alarm and RS-485 cable.
 Allow at least .75 in (2 cm) of space between the rack mounted devices.
 Ensure the NVR is grounded.
 Environmental temperature should be within the range of 14 to 131ºF
(-10 to 55ºC).
 Environmental humidity should be within the range of 10% to 90%.

Hard disk installation (optional)
Additional SATA hard disks can be installed in the NVR. Disconnect the power
from the NVR before installing a hard disk drive (HDD). A factory recommended
HDD should be used for this installation.
Up to 8 SATA hard disks can be installed on the NVR.
Tools required: screwdriver.
To install the hard disk drive into the NVR:
1. Remove the cover from the NVR by unfastening the screws on the rear and
side panels.
2. Connect one end of the data cable to the motherboard of the NVR and the
other end to the HDD.

3. Connect the power cable to the HDD.
4. Place the HDD on the bottom of the device, and then fasten the screws on
the bottom to affix the HDD.

Control
buttons
DIRECTION
In menu mode, the direction buttons are used to
navigate between different fields, items, and select
setting parameters.
In playback mode, the Up and Down buttons are used
to speed up and slow down record playing. The Left
and Right buttons are used to move the recording
30 seconds forwards or backwards.
In the image setting interface, the up and down
buttons can adjust the level bar of the image
parameters.
In live view mode, these buttons can be used to
switch channels.
ENTER
The Enter button is used to confirm selection in menu
mode; or used to check checkbox fields and ON/OFF
switch.
In playback mode, it can be used to play or pause the
video.
In single-frame play mode, pressing the Enter button
will play the video by a single frame.
In auto sequence view mode, the buttons can be used
to pause or resume auto sequence.

functions of the composite keys. (Input letter or
numbers when the light is out; Realize functions when
the light is red.)

The F1 button when used in a list field will select all
items in the list.
In PTZ Control mode, it will turn on/off PTZ light and

The F2 button is used to change the tab pages.
In PTZ control mode, it zooms in the image.

Delete characters before cursor.
Check the checkbox and select the ON/OFF switch;
Start/stop record clipping in playback.

Playback, for direct access to playback interface.

JOG SHUTTLE control
Move the active selection in a menu. It will move the

In Live View mode, it can be used to cycle through

devices, the first NVR’s D+, D- pin should be connected with the D+,
D- pin of the next NVR.

Connector for alarm input.

Peripheral connections
Wiring of alarm input
The alarm input is an open/close relay. To connect the alarm input to the device,
use the following diagram.
Note: If the alarm input is not an open/close relay, connect an external relay
between the alarm input and the device.
Wiring of alarm output
Note: Connect to a security system zone.
To connect to an alarm output (AC or DC load), use the following diagram.

For a DC load, the jumpers can be used within the limit of 12 V, 1 A safely.
To connect an AC load, jumpers should be left open (you must remove the
jumper on the motherboard in the NVR). Use an external relay for safety (as
shown in the figure above).

There are four jumpers (JP1, JP2, JP3, and JP4) on the motherboard, each
corresponding with one alarm output. By default, jumpers are connected. To
connect an AC load, the jumpers should be removed.
Example:
If you connect an AC load to the alarm output 3 of the NVR, then you must
remove the JP3 jumper.
Using of alarm connectors
To connect alarm devices to the NVR:
1. Disconnect the pluggable block from the ALARM IN /ALARM OUT terminal
block.
2. Unfasten the stop screws from the pluggable block, insert signal cables into
the slots, and then fasten the stop screws. Ensure the signal cables are tight.
3. Connect the pluggable block back into the terminal block.
Controller connection
To connect a controller to the NVR:
1. Disconnect the pluggable block from the KB terminal block.
2. Unfasten the stop screws from the KB D+, D- pluggable block. Insert the
signal cables into the slots and fasten the stop screws. Ensure the signal
cables are in tight.

3. Connect Ta on the controller to D+ on the terminal block and Tb on the
controller to D- on the terminal block. Fasten the stop screws.
4. Connect the pluggable block back into the terminal block.
Note: Make sure both the controller and NVR are grounded.
HDD storage calculation chart
The following chart shows an estimate of storage space used based on recording
at one channel for an hour at a fixed bit rate.

the actual value.

Menu operation
Menu structure
Startup and shutdown
Proper startup and shutdown procedures are crucial to expand the life of the
NVR.
To start the NVR:
1. Check that the power supply is plugged into an electrical outlet. It is highly
recommend that you use an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) in
conjunction with the device.
2. Press the POWER button on the front panel. The Power LED should turn
green as the unit starts.

To shut down the NVR:
1. Enter the Shutdown menu (Menu > Shutdown).
2. Select Shutdown.
3. Click Yes.
Using the Setup Wizard
By default, the Setup Wizard starts once the NVR has loaded.
To operate the Setup Wizard:
1. Select the system language from the drop-down menu, and then click Apply
to save the resolution settings. The default language is English.

2. The Setup Wizard can walk you through the settings of the NVR. If you do not
want to use the Setup Wizard, click Cancel. You can use the Setup Wizard
the next time by selecting the Start wizard when NVR starts? checkbox.
3. Click Next on the Wizard window to enter the Login window.
4. Enter the admin password. By default, this password is “secure7.”
5. To change the admin password, select the New Admin Password checkbox.
Enter the new password and confirm the password in the given fields.
6. Click Next to enter the date and time settings window.

7. After the time settings, click Next to return to the Network Setup Wizard
window.
Note: The internal NIC IPv4 address should be configured for the cameras
connecting to the PoE network interface of the NVR.
8. Click Next to enter the HDD Management window.
9. Click Init to initialize the HDD. Initialization removes all data saved in the
HDD.
10. Click Next. You will enter the Adding IP Camera interface.
11. Click Search to find the IP Camera.

12. Select the IP camera to be added, and then click Add.
13. Click Next. Configure the recording for the searched IP Cameras.
14. Click Copy to copy the settings to other channels.
15. Click OK to complete the Setup Wizard.

Live View
Some icons are provided on screen in Live View mode to indicate the different
camera statuses. Icons appear at the top right of the screen for each channel.
They show the status of the record and alarm in the channel so that you can
identify problems quickly.
