INTRODUCTION
IO-AMHP-245 WWW.CLEANCOMFORT.COM 3
What the Air Cleaner Does
This Clean Comfort™ brand AMHP HEPA air cleaner is
designed to be connected to the return air duct of your
central heang and cooling system. It draws in just a
poron of the total air ow, treang it and returning it
cleaned to the home’s ductwork.
Features and Benets
• Cered True HEPA (High-Eciency Parculate Air) lter is
up to 99.97% ecient at removing parcles down to
0.3 micron
• Acvated Carbon Prelter removes lint to prolong life of
HEPA Filter and helps remove unpleasant odors (such as
those from cooking, smoking or painng.
• Bypass installaon means these HEPA air cleaners do not
add stac pressure to the HVAC system
• Easy-to-change lters
• Powerful motor delivers 245 CFM of ltered air
• Plug-in power cord
• Versale installaon: free-standing, ceiling-mounted, or
wall-mounted
• Heavy-gauge steel cabinet provides rigid installaon and
durability
• Corrosion-resistant cabinet with powder-paint nish
• By removing parculates from the air, these air cleaners
also help protect and prolong the operang eciency of
the home’s heang and cooling equipment.
• Provides a more comfortable environment year-round.
How It Works
Return air ducts of heang and cooling systems carry airborne
parcles back to the heang and cooling equipment of the
home. Here the parcles can be captured by the air cleaner’s
HEPA lter.
This AMHP-245 air cleaner uses a mul-stage air treatment
process:
1. Preltraon, using an odor absorbing acvated carbon
VOC lter
2. High eciency HEPA ltraon, removing a minimum of
99.97% of all airborne parcles 0.3 microns and larger
3. Posiltraon treatment of odors and Volale Organic
Compounds (VOCs), using an oponal Carbon VOC
Aer Filter (purchased separately)
These two or three stages of treatment help ensure the air
your family breathes is fresh, clean and comfortable.
Although the AMHP-245 only treats a poron of your
home’s air at a me, on average it can treat all the air in a
2,000 square foot home in just over an hour of operaon
when running connuously on full speed.
The very large collecon surface area of the HEPA lter
(65 ²) ensures a long service life and should be changed
every two-to-three years, based on condions in the home.

INSTALLATION
4WWW.CLEANCOMFORT.COM IO-AMHP-245
Location
The HEPA air cleaner should be located as close to the
return air duct as possible. This allows for shorter lengths of
ducng, which helps keep the stac pressure lower. The unit
can be adapted to mount on a wall or be suspended from
the ceiling. Care should be taken to keep the unit away from
an area where there is a possibility of moisture leaking on it.
Ensure there are 36 inches in front of and above the unit to
allow for removing and replacing the lters.
Installation Steps
1. Remove any packaging or plasc from lters before
installing. See Maintenance secon for instrucons
to remove the lters. Cut wire es from lter hold-
down bar.
2. When the unit is shipped, the inlet and outlet collars
are reverse- mounted to prevent damage in shipping.
The collars must be removed and reaached with the
collar ring facing out.
3. An inlet collar is provided on the unit to accommo-
date a length of 8-inch exible duct connected to
the cold air return. The 8-inch inlet must be aached
to the cold air return duct at a locaon ahead of the
clean air outlet from the air cleaner.
4. A duct adapter and a length of 8-inch exible duct are
required to connect the 8-inch inlet collar to the cold
air return duct. When running the exible duct, make
sure that there are no kinks or sharp bends that will
impede the airow to the air cleaner. Secure and seal
all connecons to prevent air leakage.
5. A duct adapter and a length of 6 inch exible duct are
required to connect the outlet collar to the cold air
return of the HVAC system. The outlet exible duct
should be aached to the return air duct, close to
the furnace. The ideal locaon is low on the return
air boot poinng towards the furnace. To prevent air
shear inside the duct, it is recommended that you
install a deector inside the boot, so the discharged
air is deected down into the boot. When running
the exible duct, make sure that there are no kinks
or sharp bends that will impede the airow from the
unit. Secure and seal the hose and connecons to
prevent air leakage.
6. It is important to maintain some distance between
the inlet and the outlet connecons to the return
air duct. Failure to do this may result in short cycling
between the inlet and the clean air discharge. It is
recommended you leave at least 6 feet between the
inlet and the outlet connecons for the air cleaner to
work eecvely. If the distance is smaller than 6 feet,
it is important to install an air deector in the duct.
7. If outside air is introduced into the return air duct,
either through an HRV / ERV (Heat or Energy Recovery
Venlator) or by a direct venlaon duct, it should enter
the return duct upstream of the inlet to the air cleaner.
Operating Instructions
The HEPA air cleaner is designed to run connuously
to provide clean, ltered air 24 hours a day. The fan
on the heang/cooling system should be set to
‘connuous’ operaon.
Note: If the system fan is set to `automac’ operaon,
it is recommended the HEPA air cleaner be operated
through an air proving switch or relay to turn the air
cleaner OFF, when the system fan is not running.
The unit plugs into a regular 120 VAC outlet and is
controlled by a switch located on the rear panel,
near the power cord.
Note: Do not allow the cord to be placed where it may be
walked on, or allow anything to roll over it. The top cover
must be secured for the air cleaner to operate. All lters
must be in place for the unit to operate properly.
iCAUTION!
This unit must be installed on the return air side of the
system only. Do not connect to supply side.
Do not install in a cooking area or connect directly to
any appliance.
iCAUTION!
Never use the unit without all of the lters in place.

MAINTENANCE
IO-AMHP-245 WWW.CLEANCOMFORT.COM 5
Maintenance
For ecient operaon, the lters must be changed on a
regular basis. Check the lters if you noce a reducon in
airow from the system.
1. To access the lters, turn the air cleaner OFF at the
switch and remove the front door.
2. Release the lter hold-down bar by pulling it forward
one side at a me.
3. Carefully remove lters to avoid spilling of collected
parculates. Dispose of lters in a plasc bag and
discard with regular household trash.
4. Remove plasc from new lters before installing.
Discard plasc safely. Take care not to damage
the lters.
5. Write the date on the replacement lter in the
space provided.
6. Place the Carbon VOC prelter around the HEPA lter
and secure with the Velcro provided.
7. Ensure the open end of the HEPA lter is toward
the motor.
8. Replace the lter hold-down bar by placing one side
under the bracket on the side of the cabinet. Once you
have one side started, force the bar under the bracket
on the other side of the cabinet. This insures the lter
has a good seal.
9. Use genuine replacement lters only. Contact your
HVAC service contractor for these parts.
iWARNING!
Make sure to turn the air cleaner OFF before performing
any maintenance or removing any components.
Replacement Parts
Note: When the lters are new, you may noce a new
smell from the system. This is normal and will dissipate
within a few hours.
Carbon VOC Prelter (Part #AMP-W3-0855):
Replace every three-to-six months, based on condions
in the home. If there are heavy odors in the home from
cooking, smoking, painng or other sources, the lter
may require changing more oen.
True HEPA Filter (Part #AMP-W3-0840):
Replace every two-to-three years, based on condions
in the home. The life of this lter depends on the
amount of parculates in the air and the frequency
with which the prelter has been changed. Renova-
ons in the home that create sawdust, drywall dust or
similar parculates will shorten the life expectancy of
the HEPA lter.
Note: NEVER aempt to extend the life of the HEPA
lter by vacuuming it.
Note: Handle the HEPA lter by the frame only.
The paper is fragile and a puncture or tear will
reduce eciency.
Carbon VOC After Filter (optional)
(Part #AMP-W3-0810):
This lter is posioned inside the HEPA lter, and
should be replaced every six-to-twelve months based
on condions in the home. If there are heavy odors
in the home from cooking, smoking, painng or other
sources, the lter may require changing more oen.
