ClearCube® C7420 Digital Fiber C/Ports provide the following:
• LC fiber optic connector
• Support for one or two independently–configurable monitors
• PC–over–IP™ (PCoIP™) processors, delivering PC video and
audio over your IP network
• Four USB 1.1 ports
• Audio in and audio out
C7420 Digital Fiber C/Port Overview
In typical ClearCube environments, PC blades are centrally–
located in data centers. Each blade user has a user port (such as a
C7420) on their desk, which has a network connection to a PC
blade. A C7420 provides the interface to the blade. That is, the user
can connect monitors, pointing devices, and other peripherals to
the C7420 to receive peripheral data sent from a blade and to send
USB data to the blade.
The C7420 securely extends user desktops from centralized PC
blades. This point-to-point fiber optic solution supports existing
fiber cabling infrastructures that employ a pair of multi-mode
fibers for each user. The C7420 connects to a F6150 fiber
transceiver chassis using a pair of 62.5µ or 50µ, multi-mode fibers
through an LC connector.
Setting up Your C7420 Digital Fiber C/Port
Perform the following steps to set up the C7420 Digital Fiber
C/Port. To mount the C7420 under a desk, use a 9/64–inch drill bit
to drill pilot holes for the mounting bracket screws.
1.
Place your C7420 on a desk or use the included mounting bracket to
mount the C7420.
– Ensure that there is a minimum of 1.5 inches of clearance
on each side of the C/Port, and a minimum ¾–inch
clearance above the C/Port.
– To prevent overheating, do not stand the C/Port on either
of its sides, and do not cover any ventilation holes.
– When using the C7420 mounting bracket to mount the
C/Port under a desk, use the holes on the top of the bracket
as a hole pattern to drill holes. Ensure that the bracket is
inset 1.5 inches from the front of the desk.
2. Connect the following to the
C7420 :
– USB keyboard and pointing device using the USB ports on
the front or the rear of the
C7420 .
– LC fiber optic cable to the LC jack on the rear of the C7420 .
– Monitor cable to each DVI-I port on the rear of the
C7420 .
– Power adapter supplied with the
C7420

3. Ensure that you have connected the power cable and AC
adaptor provided with your
C7420 . Connect the AC
adapter to the
C7420 , and then connect the power cable to
a power outlet. Briefly press and hold the power button to
power on the
C7420 .
C7420 Digital Fiber C/Port Indicators
Front Panel
• Blue power indicator—Illuminated when the
C7420 is
powered on.
• Link LED—Shows when a connection, or link, is
established between the
C7420 and a blade.
– Green LED—C/Port and blade are connected.
– Red LED—C/Port and blade are not connected (for
example, the
C7420 LC fiber optic cable is
disconnected).
Rear Panel
• ACT/LOS—This LED indicates fiber activity and a loss
of connection.
– Blinking green—Signal activity
– Orange—Loss of fiber signal
• SPD—This LED indicates connection speed. When
illuminated, a 100–megabit connection is established.
Additional Steps
C7420 Digital Fiber C/Ports and dual–monitor blades
contain PCoIP processors that enable dual monitor displays.
You must provision the PCoIP processors on your
C7420 s
and on your blades when deploying them. See User Port
Guide at support.clearcube.com for information about
provisioning PCoIP processors on your C7420 .
