Charging the Speaker Microphone

To charge the speaker microphone
1. Ensure the device is turned ousing the multifunction button.
2. Plug the charge cable into any powered USB outlet,
such as an AC wall charger, and then into the charge jack
on the speaker microphone.
3. Once the charging process has begun, the LED indicator
on the bottom of the speaker microphone will show a constant red light.
4. Typical charge time is approximately ve hours. Actual charge time will vary depending
on several factors including the battery’s charge state, condition, and age.
5. When the battery is fully charged the LED indicator on the speaker microphone
will turn o.
6. Disconnect the charger from the adapter when charging is completed.
Charging Cautions:
- Do not use a wall charger or charge cable that appears to be damaged. (Example: frayed wires,
melted plastic, etc.) Contact Cobalt AV to get a new manufacturer-approved replacement charger.
- Do not tamper with or modify the speaker microphone or charger.
- Always turn the speaker microphone owhen charging.
The AMPS-BLUE-KU speaker microphone has a
replaceable Lithium Ion rechargeable battery
pack which must be charged prior to operation,
and must be recharged regularly. A fully charged
battery will provide up to 40 hours of continuous
operation before needing to be recharged.
However, operating time can vary depending
on usage and the condition of the battery
pack. Recharge the battery regularly.

Installing or Replacing the Battery Pack
The AMPS-BLUE-KU Bluetooth speaker microphone gets its power from a rechargeable Lithium-Ion type
battery pack. The battery pack must be installed inside the microphone prior to operation. Under normal
usage, this battery should have a lifespan of over 1,500 charge/discharge cycles before needing to be replaced.
To access the battery compartment:
1. Rotate the clothing clip on the back of the speaker microphone 90° to expose the thumbscrew at
the top of the battery compartment cover. Rotate the thumbscrew counter-clockwise until the cover
opens. Remove the battery door.
2. Insert the rechargeable battery pack into the battery compartment. Ensure that the battery
terminals are properly lined up with the contacts inside of the battery compartment.
3. Reinstall the battery compartment cover and rotate the thumbscrew clockwise to tighten.
Do NOT over tighten.

Controls and Connection
Front Firing Speaker
Received calls are heard over this speaker.
The volume level can be controlled using
either the Volume Up / Down buttons on
the speaker microphone, or by using the
volume controls on the phone.
Status LEDs
The red and blue LEDs ash
messages that let the user
know the current status of
the speaker microphone.
Clothing Clip
The alligator-type clip secures the speaker
microphone to the user’s clothing during
use. The clip can be rotated to allow the
microphone to be better positioned.
Multifunction Button
Holding down this button for one second will turn
the speaker microphone on and o. This button can
also be used to place the speaker microphone into
pairing mode so that it can be connected wirelessly
to a cellular phone.
Microphone:
This microphone picks up the user’s
voice audio when sending a call
PTT Button
This button is used to activate
the push-to-talk feature of the
AT&T ePTT app.
Phone Button
This button can be
used to answer or
hang up phone calls.
Volume Up and Down Buttons
These buttons can be used to turn
the receive audio volume of the
speaker microphone up or down
in ve preset steps.
Charge Jack
This mini-USB jack is used to recharge the
removable battery of the speaker microphone
by connecting the AMPS-BLUE-KU to a USB
charger or any powered USB source.
Earphone Jack
This jack is used to connect an (optional)
wired listen-only earphone to the speaker
microphone for enhanced privacy.
Battery Cover
The rear cover of the speaker
microphone can be removed by
loosening the thumbscrew
on the rear of the microphone.
This allows the user to gain access
to the removable battery pack.
Removable Battery
The speaker microphone
is powered by a removable
Lithium battery pack.

The AMPS-BLUE-KU speaker microphone is designed to work with
smart devices running either the Android or Apple iOS operating
systems. Prior to normal operation, the phone and speaker
microphone must be paired together using the following process
(note the process for iOS and Android are dierent):
To pair the AMPS-BLUE-KU speaker microphone with a Android phone:
1. When pairing the speaker microphone with an Android phone, rst make sure that the AMPS-BLUE-KU
and all other nearby Bluetooth devices are powered obefore beginning.
2. Press and hold down the Power Button on the AMPS-BLUE-KU for ve seconds, until the LED on the
speaker microphone ashes RED-BLUE-RED-BLUE continuously in sequence. The BTH-600-KU speaker
microphone is now in pairing mode.
3. Activate the Bluetooth feature on your phone.
4. Activate the “scan/discover new Bluetooth devices” feature on the phone. The exact steps needed
to do this will vary depending on the brand/model of phone you are using.
5. Select the BTH-600-KU from the list of Bluetooth devices shown on your phone. If the phone asks for a
passcode, enter “0000”. The phone may also prompt you to conrm the connection.
6. After a few seconds, the two devices should synch to one another. Once the AMPS-BLUE-KU speaker
microphone and phone are paired with each other, the status LED on the microphone will revert back
to a single blue ash every few seconds.
7. Once successfully paired, you will be able to make and receive phone calls using the AMPS-BLUE-KU
speaker microphone.

Using the Speaker Microphone with AT&T ePTT
Once setup, you will be able to use the speaker microphone with the AT&T ePTT app, even if ePTT is
running the background.
• To activate ePTT's push-to-talk feature, press and hold the PTT button on the speaker microphone.
• When ePTT is transmitting a call, audio will be picked up by the BTH-600-KU’s built-in microphone
unless a wired accessory with a built-in microphone is plugged into the speaker microphone. In that
case, the accessory microphone will be used instead..
• Incoming calls received by ePTT will be heard over the earphone that is plugged into the
AMPS-BLUE-KU's accessory port.
Making and Receiving Phone Calls
You can also use the speaker microphone to make and receive phone calls.
• You can initiate a phone call by using the Phone Dialer app in the phone.
• Phone audio will be routed to the AMPS-BLUE-KU's accessory port and microphone.
• To answer an incoming call, press the phone button on the speaker microphone.
• While on a call, you can press the phone button on the speaker microphone to hang up
the phone and end the call.

The meanings of the various status LED messages shown by the speaker microphone are shown
on the following table:
OPTIONAL EAPRHONES
Although the AMPS-BLUE-KU has a built-in speaker for listening to received calls, some users may prefer to
use a listen only earphone for enhanced privacy. The accessory jack on the speaker microphone will accept
any mono earphone with a 3.5 mm audio plug. When an earphone is used, the front-ring speaker is
disabled.

SUPPORT AND WARRANTY
Cobalt Audio Video warrants this product against defects in materials or workmanship for a period of
one year from the date of retail purchase. Cobalt AV will repair or replace a defective unit, at our option,
without charge for parts or labor. The limited warranty is extended only to the original purchaser and is
valid only to consumers in the United States and Canada. It does not cover damage or failure caused by
or attributable to Acts of God, abuse, misuse, improper or abnormal usage, faulty installation, improper
maintenance, lightning, or other incidences of excessive voltage, or any tampering or repairs by other
than a Cobalt AV authorized repair facility. It does not cover replacement of consumable parts,
transportation costs, or damage in transit.
Repair or replacement under the terms of this warranty does not extend the terms of this warranty.
This warranty can only be modied by an ocer of Cobalt AV, and then only in writing. Should this
product prove defective in workmanship or material, the consumer’s sole remedies shall be such repair
or replacement as provided by the terms of this warranty. Under no circumstances shall Cobalt AV be
liable for any loss or damage, direct, consequential, or incidental, arising out of the use of or inability to
use this product. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the

Setting up AT&T Enhanced PTT
To get the AT&T ePTT app on your phone and set it up to work
with the AMPS-BLUE-KU’s speaker microphone do the following:
1. Install the AT&T ePTT app onto your phone using the Google Play Store
2. Launch the AT&T ePTT app.
3. Accept the End User License Agreement for the app.
4. When prompted, select "Yes" to activate the app.
5. Log in with your AT&T account.
To pair the AMPS-BLUE-KU speaker microphone with an Apple iOS phone:
1. When pairing the speaker microphone with a Apple iOS phone, rst make sure that the
AMPS-BLUE-KU and all other nearby Bluetooth devices are powered obefore beginning.
2. Press and hold down the Power Button on the AMPS-BLUE-KU for ve seconds, until the LED on the
speaker microphone ashes RED-BLUE-RED-BLUE continuously in sequence. The AMPS-BLUE-KU speaker
microphone is now in pairing mode.
3. Activate the Bluetooth feature on your phone.
4. In the phone’s Bluetooth list, two devices will be found, “BTH-600” and “PTT-U.” Both of these Bluetooth
devices must be paired to the phone for the AMPS-BLUE-KU’s audio and push-to-talk features to work.
5. Tap on “BTH-600” to pair the phone with the Bluetooth audio. If the phone asks for a passcode, enter
“0000”. The phone may also prompt you to conrm the connection.
6. After a few seconds, the two devices should synch to one another. Once the AMPS-BLUE-KU speaker
microphone and phone are paired with each other, the status LED on the microphone will revert back to
a single blue ash every few seconds.
7. Tap on “PTT-U” to pair the phone with the push-to-talk connection. The phone may also prompt you
to conrm the connection.
8. Once successfully paired, you will be able to make and receive phone calls using the AMPS-BLUE-KU
speaker microphone.
Reconnecting a Previously Paired Speaker Microphone and Radio Adapter/Cellular Phone
Once the AMPS-BLUE-KU speaker microphone and Bluetooth radio adapter and/or cellular phone have
been successfully paired together, both devices will remember that connection. The speaker microphone
and radio adapter/phone will attempt to reestablish their link whenever they are both powered on and in
within range of each other. Re-establishing this connection can take 10-60 seconds.
