Safety
General safety instructions for cordless power tools
Warning: Readall theinstructions. Failure to adhere to thefollowing instructions may
lead to electric shock, fires or serious injuries. Theterm “power tool” in thefollowing
text refers to your handheld mains operated or battery operatedtool.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
1) Work area
a) Keep thework area clean and well illuminated. Cluttered and poorly lit areas
invite accidents.
b) Do not use power tools in explosive environments,e.g. near to flammable
liquids, gases ordust. Powertools generate sparks that can easily ignite dust
andfumes.
c) Keep children and other bystanders asafe distance away from thearea
where you intend to use thepowertool. Distractions can cause you to lose
concentration and control of thetool.
2) Electrical safety
a) Thepower tool’s plug must fit correctly into thewall socket. Nevermodify
theplug in anyway. Neveruse anadaptor plug together with earthed powertools.
Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce therisk of electric shocks.
b) Avoid physical contact with earthed objects, such as pipes, radiators, ovens
or refrigerators. Thereis anincreased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.
c) Do not expose thepower tool to rain or other wet conditions. Waterentering
apower tool will increase therisk of electricshock.
d) Do not abuse themainslead. Neveruse thelead to carry or drag thepower
tool or to jerk theplug from awall socket. Keepthelead away from heat, oil,
sharp edges and movingparts. Damaged or tangled leads increase therisk of
electricshock.
e) When using power tools outdoors, use anextension lead that is suitable for
this purpose. Theuse of anextension lead designed for outdoor use decreases
therisk of electric shocks.

f) Iffor some reason you must use apower tool in awet environment, always
connect it to themains via anearth-fault circuit breaker such as anRCD
(residual current device). Useof aRCD significantly reduces therisk of electricshock.
3) Personal safety
a) Pay attention to what you are doing and use common sense when using
powertools. Neveruse power tools if you are tired or under theinfluence of
drugs, alcohol or medication. Onemoment of inattention while using apower
tool may result in serious injury.
b) Wear protective clothing. Always wear safety glasses. Usingprotective
clothing such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes, helmets and ear defenders
when needed decreases therisk of injury.
c) Avoid accidental starts. Makesure that thepower switch is set to OFF before
plugging thetool into awall socket. Nevercarry apower tool with your finger on
thetrigger and never connect thepower tool to awall socket when theswitch is
set to ON, since it may result in injury.
d) Remove all service tools/keys before switching on thepowertool. Aservice
tool left on arotating part of thepower tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keepproper footing and balance at alltimes. Thiswill allow
you to have more control in unexpected situations.
f) Wear suitable clothing. Donot wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery.
Keephair, clothes and gloves away from movingparts. Looseclothes,
jewellery or long hair can become caught in movingparts.
g) If equipment for dust extraction or collecting is available, make sure that it is
connected and used properly. Useof dust collection equipment can reduce dust
related hazards.
4) Use and maintenance of the power tool
a) Do not force thepowertool. Usethecorrect power tool for your application.
Thecorrect power tool will do thejob better and safer if used at therate for which
it was designed.
b) Never use thepower tool if thepower switch does not switch thetool on andoff.
Anypower tool that cannot be controlled by thepower switch is dangerous and
must be repaired.
c) Unplug thelead from thewall socket before making any adjustments,
changing accessories or storing thepowertool. Theseprecautions reduce
therisk of thepower tool starting unexpectedly.
d) Store power tools that are not being used out of children’sreach. Donot
allow people who are unfamiliar with thetool or its functions to operateit.
Powertools are dangerous in thehands of untrainedusers.
e) Maintain powertools. Checkfor misalignment, binding of moving
parts, broken parts or anything else which might affect theoperation of
thepowertool. Ifdamaged, have thepower tool repaired beforeuse.
Manyaccidents are caused by poorly maintained powertools.

f) Keep tools sharp andclean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use thepower tool, accessories and similar according to theinstructions
and in anappropriate way suitable for thetype of power toolused. Also, take
into consideration your work environment and thetype of work to bedone.
Usingthepower tool for apurpose other than that for which it is intended could
result in adangerous situation.
5) Use and maintenance of cordless power tools
a) Make sure that thepower switch is set to OFF before thebattery is inserted.
Attaching abattery to apower tool when thepower switch set to ON is inviting
anaccident.
b) Only charge thebattery using acharger approved by themanufacturer.
Acharger suitable for one type of battery pack can pose apotential fire hazard if
used for another batterypack.
c) Use power tools only with specifically designated batterypacks. Theuse of
any other battery packs may create arisk of injury andfire.
d) When not in use, thebattery pack should be stored away from other metal
objects such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or any small metal
object that could bridge thegap between thebattery terminals. Shorting
thebattery terminals together may cause burns or afire.
e) If batteries are abused there is arisk of them leakingacid. Avoidcontact with
anyacid. Ifcontact accidentally occurs, flush withwater. Iftheacid comes
into contact with your eyes, consult adoctor. Battery acid can cause irritation
andburns.
6) Service
a) Repairs and service should only be performed by qualified tradesmen, and
only with original spareparts. Thisguarantees that thesafety of thepower tool is
maintained.
Specic safety instructions for drilling
a) Use anauxiliary handle if one is supplied. Lossof control over thepower tool
can lead to personal injury.
b) Only hold thepower tool by its insulated gripping surfaces when performing
anoperation where thecutting accessory could come into contact with
live electrical wiring. Cutting accessories which contact live wires may
energise any metallic components on thehousing of thepower tool and lead to
anelectricshock.

Specic safety instructions for batteries/battery packs
a) Never attempt to open, disassemble, damage or tamper with thebattery in
anyway.
b) Do not short-circuit thebattery. Neverstore thebattery in such away that there
is arisk of it coming into contact with other batteries or electrical conductors.
Whenthebattery is not in use, keep it at safe distance from all metal objects like
paper clips, coins, keys, nails and screws. Suchobjects could create acontact
between thebattery terminals, causing them to short circuit thebattery, which
could lead to burn injuries orfire.
c) Do not expose thebattery to heat or naked flames. Donot store thebattery in
persistent sunlight.
d) Do not subject thebattery to impacts or shocks.
e) Do not let fluid from leaking batteries come into contact with your skin oreyes.
Ifthis occurs, flush thearea immediately with copious amounts of water and
contact aphysician.
f) Contact adoctor immediately if thebattery or any of its parts has been ingested.
g) Keep thebattery clean anddry.
h) Clean thebattery regularly using aclean drycloth.
i) Thebattery must be charged beforeuse. Always adhere to theinstructions
included in this instruction manual using thecorrect charging procedures.
j) Never let thebattery charge for extended periods when it is not inuse.
k) If thebattery has been stored for along time, it may need to be charged and
discharged several times in order for it to reach its full capacity.
l) Thebattery is able to perform at its optimal capacity when it is used at room
temperature (20 ± 5 °C).
m) When recycling thebattery, be sure to keep batteries with different chemical
compositions separate from eachother.
n) Thebattery should only be charged using thesupplied charger. Neveruse
acharger other than one that is specially designed and intended for use with
thebattery in question. Acharger suitable for one type of battery can pose afire
hazard if used for another type of battery.
o) Never use abattery designed for another power tool than that described in this
instruction manual.
p) Keep theextension lead out of children’sreach.
q) Retain all original documentation supplied with this tool for future reference
anduse.
r) Remove thebattery from thepower tool when not inuse.
s) Theproduct should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
General safety instructions for batteries and chargers

Vibration
• Themeasurement of thevibration emission level declared in this instruction manual
has been carried out in accordance with astandardised test method described in
EN60745 and can be used for comparing one power tool with another.
• Themeasurement method may also be used for apreliminary assessment of
vibration exposure.
• Thedeclared vibration emission level applies when thepower tool is used in
accordance with this instruction manual. If thepower tool is used for other
purposes and with other accessories or has not been properly maintained,
thevibration value could rise significantly duringuse.
• For anexact assessment of thevibration exposure, thetimes when thetool is
switched off or running idle should also be taken into account. Thissignificantly
reduces thevibration exposure over thetotal working period. Decide upon safety
measures to protect theoperator from theeffects of vibration during all types
ofuse.

Features
Power switch and forward/reverse selector
1. Thedirection of rotation (forward or
reverse) can be chosen using theselector
(4). Therotation selector also has
amiddle setting which locks thepower
trigger. Iftheselector is set to this middle
position, thedrill/driver will notstart.
2. Thedrill/driver is started and stopped
by squeezing and releasing thepower
trigger (5). Thedrill/driver is equipped with
avariable speed control, which makes
it extremely practical for driving screws.
Themore thepower trigger is squeezed,
thehigher thechuck rotationspeed.
Work light
Thedrill/driver is equipped with awork light (11). Thelight comes on when thepower
trigger is squeezed and goes off when thepower trigger is released.
Battery charge status indicator
Thebattery has acharge status indicator (8)
consisting of 4 LEDs and which is activated
by pressing thetest button (9).
One or several LEDs become lit depending
on thebattery status:
• Thebattery is fully charged, 1 red and
3green LEDs.
• Thebattery is partially discharged, 1 red
and 1–2 green LEDs.
• Thebattery is discharged and must be
recharged if just 1 red LED is lit.
Screwdriver mode
1. Use thetorque/drill mode selector ring (2) to set asuitable torque setting.
Thecorrect torque setting will disengage thedrive at thepreset torque to prevent
screws from being over-tightened or driven in toofar. Thetorque setting should be
based upon thetype of screw, its size and thetype of material being screwedinto.
2. Always start at thelowest torque setting and increase in stages until asuitable
setting is reached.

Drill mode
Set thedrill/torque setting ring (2) to drill mode ( ).
High/Low gear
Thegear selector (3) has two settings: Mode1: 0–350 rpm, mode 2: 0–1300rpm.
Charging
Note: Thebattery needs to be charged fully before initialuse.
1. Remove thebattery from thedrill by pressing thebattery release button (10) and
pulling out thebattery. Ifthebattery feels hot after heavy use, allow it to cool
properly before chargingit.
2. Connect thecharger to awall socket. Thegreen LED on thecharger will comeon.
3. Insert thebattery into thecharger. TheLED will be lit asolid red during charging
and will change to asolid green once charging is complete.
4. Oncecharging is complete, press thebattery release catch and remove it from
thecharger.
Thecharger indicates thecharging status as follows:
No battery connected:
• Constant greenlight: Charger is plugged into thewall socket.
Battery connected:
• Constant redlight: Charging is in progress.
• Constant greenlight: Charging is complete, battery fully charged.
• Chargingtime: approx 1hour.
• Thebattery may become warm during charging. Thisis completely normal.
• Thebattery and charger function best at normal room temperature. Donot charge
thebattery in direct sunlight or in temperatures below 5 °C. Thetemperature range
for charging is 10–40 °C.
• When thebattery becomes discharged, theelectronics of thebattery will turn
thedrill off automatically.
• For long-term storage (months) thebattery should first be fully charged.
