TheModelAH‐826antennacanusedtogenerateelectro‐magneticfieldsforimmunity
testing.Immunitytestingshouldbeconductedinsideashieldedenclosureoranchoic
chambertoavoidinterferencetootherequipmentandexposureofpersonneltohigh
electromagneticfields.
Maintenance
Therearenouserserviceablepartsintheantenna.Usermodificationstotheantennawill
voidwarrantyandmayalsoinvalidatethecalibration.Sendtheantennatoanauthorized

5.0 Warranty
Com‐PowerwarrantstoitsCustomersthattheantennasitmanufactureswillbefreefrom
defectsinmaterialsandworkmanshipforaperiodof3years.Thiswarrantyshallnotapplyto:
•Transportdamagesduringshipmentfromyourplant.
•Damagesduetopoorpackaging.
•Productsoperatedoutsidetheirspecifications.
•ProductsImproperlymaintainedormodified.
•Consumableitemssuchasfuses,powercords,cables,etc.
•Normalwear
•Calibration
•ProductsshippedoutsidetheUnitedStateswithoutthepriorknowlegeofCom‐
Power.
Inaddition,Com‐Powershallnotbeobligedtoprovideserviceunderthiswarrantytorepair
damageresultingfromattemptstoinstall,repair,serviceormodifytheantennabypersonnel
otherthanCom‐Powerservicerepresentatives.
UndernocircumstancesdoesCom‐Powerrecognizeorassumeliabilityforanyloss,damage
orexpensearising,eitherdirectlyorindirectly,fromtheuseorhandlingofthisproduct,or
anyinabilitytousethisproductseperatelyorincombinationwithanyotherequipment.
Whenrequestingwarrantyservices,itisrecommendedthattheoriginalpackagingmaterial
beusedforshipping.Damageduetoimproperpackagingwillvoidwarranty.

5.1Maintenance
Thisantennahasnouserserviceablepartsinside.Iftheunitdoesnotoperateorneeds
calibration,pleasecontactCom‐PowerCorporation.Anymodificationsorrepairsperformed
ontheantennabysomeoneotherthananauthorizedfactorytrainedtechnicianwillvoid
warranty.
Theexteriorsurfacemaybecleanedwithmilddetergentandthenbewipedwithadry,clean,
lint‐freecloth.

6.1 Connecting
ThemodelAH‐826hornantennahasatypeSMAfemaleconnectorofsignaloutputorinput.
Itcanhandleupto5WattsCWsignal.Theseconnectorsaredelicateandshouldbehandled
withcare.Donotovertightenoruseexcessiveforcewhenmakingconnections.
6.2 Antennasetupforreceivingsignals
ThemodelAH‐826mustbeconnectedtothereceiver/spectrumanalyzerwithhigh
frequency,lowlosscables.Thelossmustbemeasuredandusedincalculatingthefield
strength.
6.3 Antennasetupfortransmittingsignals
WhentheAH‐826antennaisusedfortransmittingsignals,theantennaisconnectedtoa
microwavesignalgeneratorandapoweramplifier.ThemodelAH‐826antennacantransmit
upto5Wattsofcontinuouspower.Thefieldgeneratedbytheantennacanbemeasuredby
usingafieldstrengthmeter/probeoranotherhornantenna.
6.4Testlocation
TheHornAntennamustbemountedandplacedinareaawayfromotherconductiveobjects
ormaterialswheninuse.Largeconductivebuilding,structuresandelectricalcables,can
reflectandreradiatetheemissionsofEUT,causingerrorsinthetestdata.Inaddition,care
shouldbetakentokeepmeasuringinstrumentsandtestpersonnelawayfromthetestarea
toavoidinterferencetothetest,aswellexposureoftestpersonneltohighelectro‐magnetic
fields.

7.0 TheoryofOperation
7.1Overview
Broadbandantennasallowmeasurementofsignalsoverawidefrequencyrange.ModelAH‐
826HornAntennasarebroadbandantennasthatoperateinthefrequencyrangeof18to
26.5GHz.
ModelAH‐826canbothreceiveandTransmitoverthefrequencyrangeofoperationandis
usedforsusceptibilityandemissionstestinginEMCLaboratories.
BeforetheHornantennasareusedformeasurementtheyhavetobecalibrated.During
calibrationofaknownfieldstrength(dBµV/m)isgeneratedaroundtheantennaateach
frequencyatpredeterminedintervalsbetween18GHz–26.5GHz.Thedifferencebetween
fieldstrength(dBµV/m)receivedbytheantennaandknownfieldstrengthgenerated
(dBµV/m)istheantennafactor(dB/m)forthatfrequency.DuringEMCtestingtheantenna
factorforthefrequencyofinterestisaddedbacktoreadingontheEMImeterorspectrum
analyzertocalculatethefieldstrengthmeasuredbytheantenna.

WhenusingtheAH‐826antennafortransmittingapplication,pleaserefertoTable8.1to
