1. General Information.
The HDX-100UTP tap is designed for Half/Full duplex 802.3
Ethernet Networks. The no package loss and redundant power
feature makes it the ideal solution for security networks.
The tap is invisible and none-intrusive to the network. It has no IP
address and mirrors all traffic including Layer 1 and Layer 2 errors to
the monitor ports.
It is redundant powered to guarantee maximum monitoring uptime. If
one power fails the secondary power will automatically replace its
function without causing any interruption in the network traffic. The
permanent link feature in the network guarantees permanent network
connectivity also when power fails.
The HDX—100UTP tap passes 10 or 100 Mbps traffic and PoE
(802.3af) without interference. No active components are used in the
network link, it does not introduce a point of failure.

2. Functional description
2.1 Introduction
The HDX 100UTP tap is a multiple structure with the tap ports on the
front and the network ports on the backside of the unit. Network Ports
A and B are connected in the network, Tap Ports A and B are
connected to monitor device A respective B.
2.2 Security
The tap is 802.3 compliant and none-intrusive to the network.
Network ports A and B are hardwired together and the tap does no
introduce a point of failure in the network.
It has no IP address and is invisible to the network. It does not
interfere in auto negotiation, speed and duplex settings.
2.3 Power
The HDX-100UTP tap can be redundant powered. Using the
redundant power feature guarantees a maximum uptime off the
monitor ports. The second power will automatically take over the
function of the first when it disappears. Two (2) LEDs show the
presence of power. The tap is fully functional using only one power.
2.4 Power Failure
The uninterrupted link in the network guarantees permanent network
connectivity, also when power fails. No data is passed to the TAP
ports at power failure.
2.5 Power over Ethernet
The unit is 802.3af compliant and forward PoE in the Network. The
tap ports are galvanically separated from the network ports and in
such way protecting your monitoring equipment from PoE.
