I. Outline
Thebalance isamultifunctionelectronicbalanceadoptingMCS-51 seriessinglechip
microprocessor.Theweighingcanbeautomaticallycalibrated,theintegratingtimecanbe
adjustedand thesensitivitycanbeselectedlikecommonintelligentelectronicbalances.
Besides,it hasthreeweighingsystemsforusers choice:gram,metriccaratand troy ounce
(themetriccaratand troyouncearefortheexportedbalance).Thedatainterfaceis
providedwithRS232Cuniversaltwo-wayserialinterface,whichcanbeconnectedtothe
microprocessorand serialprinter(e.g., TPμP-T16S,etc.).Thedataoutputhasalsofive
modesforusers choice, includingtiminginthree steps,continuous, andmanualoutput.

1Preparation
lUnpacktheboxandremoveall thepacking.Takeoutbufferspongeinthewind-proof
coverand install pan.
lPutthebalance on a stableworking tablefree fromvibration, sunshineand airflow.

lCheckthelevelmeterbeforeoperation.If thebubbleisnotin thecenter, adjustthelevel
legstomakethebubbleinthecenter.
lThebalance adoptssofttouchbuttons,soit canbecontrolledwithmulti-keyboards.Itis
easytooperate.Functionchangeand selectioncanberealizedsimplyby depressingthe
correspondingbuttons.

lIntroductionofLCDpanel(see thesketch):
1. Integratingtimeicon---- whentheintegratingtimeisadjustedas “—INT—1”,
onlyawaveisdisplayedonthebuttonintheiconframe.
2. Sensitivityadjustmenticon---- whenthesensitivityisadjustedas “—ASD—1”,
onlyadropisdisplayedontheleftintheiconframe.
3. Displayflickerswhentheusersetsand selectsthemenu.
4. Displayflickerswhentheuserisaskedtowait (pressingkey “CAL”inthecount
functionexcluded. Fordetail see operationin §5).
5. Printingoutputmodeicon---- whenthemodeof “—PRT—1”isselectedonlya
penisdisplayedontheleftintheiconframe.
6 –10. Weighingsystem--------e.g., “ct”iscaratinthemetricsystemand “oz”is
ounce forgoldandmedicine.

lSelectanappropriatelinevoltageansetthevoltageswitchtothecorresponding
position.
lTurnonthepoweronandthebalanceisreadytorun(butthedisplaydoesn twork),
normallywarm-upisneeded beforethedisplaypanelcanbeoperated.Foraccurate
measurement,balanceofgrade needstobepoweredthree hoursforwarm-up,
whilegrated needsonehour.

Foremergency,weighing canbedonethroughcalibrating thebalancebeforeuseforaccurate
measurement, ifthewarm-uptimeisnotenough.
lFunctionofthekeyboard
“ON”displayson
Depress slightlythebutton “ON”, thedisplaywill belighted.
Checkthefunctionofthedisplay, about2 secondslater, themodelofthebalance will be
displayed:

Depress slightlythebutton “OFF”,thedisplaywill goout(nowthebalanceisstill powered).
Ifthebalancewill notbeused fora long time, thepowerplug should betaken off.

Putthecontaineronthepan, theweightofthecontainershouldbedisplayed:

4Balance Calibration
Afteralongperiodofstorage,movement,changeofenvironment,theweighingunit maynot
bedisplayedonthepanel,oneweightmaybedisplayedontheleftbuttonofthedisplay
panelwhenthereisnoanyweightingcarriedout.Normally,thebalanceshouldbecalibrated
beforeuseinordertoobtainprecisemeasurement.
lPreparationforthebalancecalibration:
Takeawayall theobjectstobeweighedonthepan.Forbalance FA2204B,asan
example, setmodesCou-0, INT-3, ASD-2, and UNT-0 (default whenbalanceison).
Depress slightly “TAR”forclearingthebalance.
lCalibration
Depress slightly “TAR”will beontheflash-displayof “CAL-200”.Releasethe
button, indicatingacalibrationisneeded with astandardweightof200g.Therefore,
puttheprepared200gstandardweightonthepan,waitingstatusof “Pleasewait”
appearsonthedisplaypanel,theflash-displayof “CAL-200”willstop.After
severalseconds, “200.0000g”will displayed,while “Pleasewait”goesout.
Removethecalibrationweight,thedisplayshouldindicate0.0000g.The
calibration isfinished.Ifnot,clearonce againandrepeattheaboveprocedures.
(Twiceofcalibrationarerecommendedinordertogetaccurateresult).Thedisplay
sequence ofthecalibrationisshowninthefigurebelow:

5COUCountFunction
Thebalance hasafunctionofcounting.Theaveragenumbersareinfourstepsof5, 10, 25,
and 50.
Thesettingofaveragenumbers:
Onlydepress “COU”and hold, “Pleasechoose”will appearonthedisplaypanel,whilethe
menudisplaywillbecirculatingcontinuouslyasthefollowing:

Itmeanstheaveragevalueof5, 10, 25, and 50 objectsrespectively.
If anormalweighingfunctionisrequired,releasewhenCou-00 displays,andwaitingstatus
“Pleasewait”will beindicated, atlast0.0000gweightingstatuswillbeindicated.
If theaveragevalueoffiveisrequired,releasewhen “Cou-05”displays, “Pleasewait”
appears,thenput5objectson thepanwhen “Pleasewait”goesoff.Now “Pleasewait”
appearsagain.Depress “CAL”onceimmediatelybefore “Pleasewait”goesoff again.Then,
waitingstatusof “-------”and “Pleasewait”appearagain.Afterseveralseconds,5will be
displayed.Takeawaytheobjectstobeweighed, “0”will bedisplayedonthepanel.Atthat
timethecountingofthesameobjectstobeweighedcanbedone.(Attention:theweightof
theobjectstobeweighedmustnotbegreaterthanthemaximumweighingrangeofthe
balance).
If youaverageover10, 25, oreven50 objects, thentheaccuracyofcountingwill behigher.

Depress “UNT”buttonandholdthedisplayof “Pleasechoose”willappearonthepanel,
whilethefollowingmenuiscirculatingcontinuously:

When theunit youneedappears, letgo, then it shows “pleaswait”and turnsintotheunit you
setup.
“0”meansthevalueisexpressedin “gram”, “1”meansthevalueisexpressedin “metric
carat/ct”,and “2”meansthevalueisexpressedin “troy ounce/oz”.

Depress “INT”buttonandhold; “Pleasechoose”will appearon thepanel,whilethedisplay
isshownasthefollowingmenu,circulatingcontinuously:

Whenthemodeyouneedappears,letgo,thenit shows “pleaswait”and turnsintothemode

Thecorrespondingintegratingtimeisasfollows:

Depress “ASD”buttonand hold, “Pleasechoose”willappearon thepanel, whilethedisplay

PRT-0 isthemodeofindefinitetimeoutput; slightlydepress “PRT”once,theweighingresult
will beoutputontheoutputinterface once.Attention:Atthistimeyoushoulddepress the
buttonslightlyandquickly,otherwise, thenextoutputmodewill bedisplayed.
PRT-1 outputonce everyhalfaminute.
PRT-2 outputonce everyminute.
PRT-3 outputonce everytwominutes.
PRT-4 outputcontinuously.
10 OperationofWeighing,Taring,Add Objects, ReadDeviations
lWeighing:
Afterselection oftheabovemodesbytheuser,(thedefault whenthebalance is
poweredis: “INT-3, ASD-2,and PRT-4)depress “TAR”,zerodisplays.Puttheobject
tobeweighedon thepan.Whenthenumberisstable,i.e. “0”and “Pleasewait”
indicationontheleftofthedisplaygoesout,thenumberdisplayedwill betheweight
oftheobject.

Putthecontaineronthepan,theweightwilldisplay.Depress “TAR”,zerodisplay.That
istaring.Puttheobjecttobeweighedintothecontainer,thevaluedisplayedisthenet
weightoftheobjecttobeweighed.
lAccumulativeweighing:
Puttheobjectstobeweighedonthepanonebyonewithtaring methodandtareand
clearforeachone.Takeawayall theobjectstobeweighed, theabsolutevaluedisplayed
isthetotalweightoftheobjectstobeweighed.
lAddObjects
Setthemodeof “INT-0, ASD-0”and putthecontaineronthepan,thentare.Addthe
objectstobeweighed(liquidorlooseobjects)intothecontaineronebyone.The
continuousreadingvaluecanbeobtainedquickly.Whentheaddedobjectsreachthe
requiredweight, “0”and “Pleasewait”indicationonthelefton thedisplaygoesoutand
thenumberdisplayedistheweighing valuerequiredbytheuser.Whenaddingthe
mixedobjects, thenetweightofeachobjectcanbemeasuredbytaringmethod.
lReadingdeviations:
Putthereference weight(orsample)onthepanandtare.Thentakeoffthereference
weight.Thenegativevalueofweightdisplays.Puttheobjecttobeweighedon thepan.
Thecorrespondingplusorminusdeviationwill display,comparingtheweighedobject
withthereferenceweight.
lUnload:
Loosethescrewsofthebottomcover,revealthehook.Putthebalance onaworking
tablewithahole.Levelandcalibratethebalance.Anobjectcanbeweighedwiththe
hook.
