Product Information
Overview
Conquip Block Grab is designed and manufactured to li secure packs of blocks
and bricks. This block grab has an automac mechanism that enables a single
operator to stack or unstack secure loads.
The block grab is also suitable for handling all types of concrete products, such as
slabs, steel strapped bricks, blocks, kerb stones and paving blocks.

Important Usage Notes
• This type of liing equipment relies upon a ‘crushing’ force to grip the load
prior to and during the li. There will always be the possibility that the load
(especially of so materials) may break up and become unstable during
the li. You should therefore inspect each load prior to liing, to ensure its
suitability.
• Do not allow hands or feet to come between, or below the grab and the load.
• Do not aempt to adjust or manhandle a load whilst it is in a raised posion.
• The grab arms should not be in contact with the ground. However, when
liing blocks, the grab arm should be no higher than 1/3 up the block.
• Always try to li the blocks end on rather than the sides. The loads length
must not be greater than the grab arms.
• Do not drag the load; this equipment is for liing the load clear o the
ground.
Using with Liing Apparatus
1. Aach the liing apparatus’ hook to the Block Grab’s liing point. Always
ensure that the hook’s gate is correctly closed.
2. Place the Block Grab on the ground making sure that its jaws are fully open.
3. Posion the height of the contact wheels so that the distance from the grab
jaws to the wheels is equal to the load’s height.
4. The posion of the wheels is adjusted by pulling out the pins to unlock, move
the wheels up or down the arm height locator as required, then reinserng
the pins to lock.
5. This adjustment must be carried out to equal seng on both sets of wheels.
The grab is now ready to use.
6. Secure the pack to be lied with banding. If not banded, when liing stacked
loads such as building blocks, the blocks may separate during the li.
7. Raise the grab and posion over the load, checking that it is centrally aligned
before lowering.
8. Lower the grab unl the automac locking mechanism closes onto the load.
9. Raise the load just above the ground and check that the load is correctly
balanced and secure.
10. Whilst the load is being held o the ground, x a Safety Restraint Net. Pull
the net under the loaded Block Grab, li up around the outside of the Block
Grab and secure the loops on the net to the safety net hooks. The net can
be adjusted by pulling up any slack on to the hooks. Only use a tested and
cered net, as supplied by Conquip Engineering Group.
11. Once the net is secured and the load is safe, proceed to move the load to its
required posion.
12. Move slowly and carefully; do not jolt the load.
13. When in posion, lower the load unl in contact with the ground. The grab
jaws will automacally release and allow you to raise the Block Grab clear of
the load.
14. You can now proceed to the next load.
15. An unloaded grab will alter between grip and release each me it receives
a jolt. This may cause the jaws to be out of sync when you next aempt to
‘grab a load’. If this is the case, lower the emptyl Block Grab to the ground to
alter to the release posion before reloading.

Basic Safety
A site-specic Risk Assessment, and li plan where applicable, must be completed by the responsible person
before using this equipment to control risks, produce a safe system of work and ensure safety for you, your
colleagues and others. Your risk assessment will determine the correct Personal Protecve Equipment (PPE)
for the task you are doing. You must use it. Conquip recommends that you should wear:
• Suitable clothing
• Gloves
• Hard hat
• Protecve footwear (steel toecaps)
• Safety glasses
Important Safety Notes
• Read these instrucons before using this equipment. If there is anything you do not understand
or if you have any concerns do not use this equipment. Contact your supervisor or Conquip
Engineering Group for advice.
• You must check that you have considered all the safety requirements for the task you are doing
and that this equipment is suitable.
• You must protect bystanders and the general public by prevenng access to the working area.
• Do not use this equipment if you are red, unwell or under the inuence of alcohol or drugs. If
you are taking any medicine or undergoing treatment you should inform your supervisor.
Usage & Transportaon
• Never unevenly load this equipment.
• The weight of the equipment, together with its aachments, must be added to the weight of the load
when calculang the total load that will be imposed on the liing apparatus / operang machine.
• This equipment must be used in conjuncon with the load rangs of the liing apparatus / operang
machine. (Refer to the manufacturers’ load rangs and original working instrucons).
• Make sure you know how to use this equipment and understand all aspects of its operaon in case of
emergency.
• This equipment weighs more than 25kg. Do not li or manhandle without machine assistance.
• Do not operate this equipment near overhead power lines.
• Take care in conned spaces, near ceilings or similar hazards. This equipment was designed for vercal
liing. Do not drag, or swing.
• Before operang this equipment, check that you have enough space for you to work safely and make
sure that the working area is clear of hazards, obstrucons and personnel.
• Before lowering equipment make sure that the landing zone is clear and capable of accepng the size
and weight of the load.
• Crush Risk. Keep hands and feet clear of the equipment at all mes to avoid injury.
• Do not exceed the maximum Working Load Limit (WLL) shown on the serial plate. Ensure that the WLL
on the individual li points is not exceeded.
• Before liing, check that the load is secured, balanced and stable. Allow space for the equipment to
move if the load shis.
Personnel
• All personnel must wear relevant personal protective equipment.
• Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery and tie back long hair to avoid becoming tangled or trapped in
this equipment. You must make everyone in the work area aware of what you are doing.
• All personnel involved in the lifting operation must be competent to do so and must have been briefed
in conjunction with this User Guide available from Conquip Engineering Group, the manufacturer.
Equipment Maintenance & Cleaning
• It is mandatory that the equipment is thoroughly examined regularly, by a qualied engineer, to ensure
compliance with relevant regulaon/s. (Conquip recommend to carry out thorough examinaon every
six months).
• This product may incorporate various loose and detachable items of liing gear. Refer to the separate
requirements for the safe use of those items.
• When not being used, store the unit in a clean, upright condion and in a safe place where it will be
protected from thieves and unauthorised users.
• This equipment must be inspected by the responsible person before each use and then regularly, as
determined by your risk assessment or working pracce. If you have any concerns about condion or
suitability do not use.

Warranty
The products supplied by Conquip Engineering Group are all guaranteed by a 12 month warranty.
Apart from where excepons apply, Conquip Engineering Group promises to repair or replace any fault which
the Company considers to be due to defecve material or workmanship within 12 months of the date of sale,
at no addional cost.
• Faults arising from unauthorised alteraons (see modicaons secon below for full details).
• Damage caused by abuse, neglect, misuse or falling.
• Damage caused because of failure to follow transportaon, storage, loading, cleaning or
operang instrucons.
• Replacement or repair of components due to fair wear and tear.
• Any consequenal damage or wear arising from the use or ng of addional or non-standard
parts.
Modicaons
If any third-party modicaons or alteraons, involving drilling, welding, cung or distoron of materials in
any form, are to be carried out on the product, Conquip Engineering Group must provide full wrien approval
prior to the work being carried out.
Alteraons, modicaons, addions or repairs must be carried out by Conquip Engineering Group’s
recognised distributors, if they are not carrying out the work themselves.
Conquip Engineering Group operate a connuous improvement policy and therefore reserve the right to alter
technical specicaons and user guide details at any point without noce.
Conquip Engineering Group will not cover or reimburse any transportaon and/or shipment costs to and
from their premises or their recognised agents, or any material and/or labour costs for repair, replacement or
assessment against a warranty claim.
Conquip Engineering Group and/or their directors, employees, insurers or recognised agents will not be held
liable for consequenal damages, losses or expenses relang to the inability to use the product correctly for
its purpose.
