3 About ...
This chapter is intended to provide a general overview of the advantages and options of the coin
recycling system CLS (Coin Loop System). The first section, however, is designed to help you
navigate easily within this manual.
3.1 About this manual
This manual is meant for operators and describes the design and function of the coin recycling
system CLS. Afterwards, chapters 6 and 7 explain the necessary steps for starting up and operating
the CLS. In chapter 8 you learn how to service the CLS.
Chapter 9 "Technical data", 10 "Remedying the cause of a malfunction" and the appended "Index"
reduce the search for specific explanations.
3.1.1 Text conventions
To make it easier for you to navigate within this manual and to operate the device, the following
accentuations were made in the text:
Safety instructions which you must observe in order to protect operators and
equipment.
Special notes intended to facilitate the use of the device.
At the beginning of each chapter you will find a short "guide" which summarizes
the contents of the chapter.

3.1.2 Additional useful technical documentation
Apart from this manual you already have, further documentation is available for the CLS, e.g.
software integration and service documentation. All documentation can be downloaded from the
Crane Payment Innovations web site (www.cranepi.com, NRI Support) as pdf file.
3.2 About the CLS coin recycling system
The CLS is a coin recycling system used in retail checkout zones and self-service cash systems
as well as in banks‘ front offices reliably accepting and dispensing all coin denominations of a
currency. As part of a point of sale terminal coins can be deposited and dispensed either by the
cashier or direct by the customer. The automated closed loop system assures error-free and
tamper-proof but also quick coin acceptance and payout of coins.
The coin recycler is powered using a separate power supply with power cable. The CLS is oper-
ated and controlled using the customer-side PC software for the control unit connected to the
payment system.
3.2.1 The CLS features
